Another point of this leaning towards Confucianism-like is the Mane 6 and Pillar 6 are walking virtues. Confucianism does have the five virtues of Confucius.

As it goes the religion in the show is unnecessary. I suppose if we pretend that the show cared about that there would be a couple of Chaos worshipers, several cult members of Nightmare forces and the Church of the Savior of Celestia

One can have a cult of personality. Special attributes are often ascribed to such people.

 

So what are traits of divine beings in FIM? To be beaten by every villain that walks by?

A lot of the time in the dark ages, Rulers and God were practically inseparable. Emperors were avatars of the almighty. Kings were 'ordained.'

In MLP is there even need for religion though? There the gods and the kings are one and the same. You don't need to pray. Just send a letter via dragonmail. Want to show loyalty? Just walk up to them and bow.

Biblically though, and weirdly I'm not even an Abrahamic follower... first time I watched S1E1 and was hearing Luna's story, that one line from Jesus in Gethsemane immediately sprung to my mind. "Will no one stay awake with me?"

Whoa. I tend to overthink things but...you intimidate me. 

Look, MLP is full of "pagan" imagery--the show is called Friendship is *MAGIC*. Discord is a trickster god. Pegasi and Hippogriffs come from Greek mythology. Griffins can be traced back to ancient non-Abrahamic religions. Twilight's cutie mark resembles many "occult" symbols. Dragons are frequently associated with Satan. Tirek essentially is Satan.

If you're a fundamentalist Christian...you probably shouldn't be watching this show. Or any secular show.

If you're not religious...what's the problem?  Tales of magic and monsters are a major part of human history! As long as protagonists aren't calling upon dark powers to wipe out unbelievers, I think that everything is going to be okay. 

Now...I'm not going to say that there is--or is not--a God. I know better than to open up that can of worms.

If you are concerned that MLP is dangerous for you to watch, don't watch it. Trust your gut. Just don't try to force other people not to enjoy it.

Personally, I view Celestia and Luna as nothing more than very powerful individuals (maybe lesser gods). They're not creator deities.
