I've only played once, I had a blast with it, I even was able to take down the dungeon boss almost single-handedly.  Hearing of the huge mess the boss created after it blew up was both satisfying and hilarious at the same time.  I don't play anymore because I always feel like I'm bothering people, also not to mention there's no more room in the group that I played with that one time and since there's only one DM hosting, I decided it'd be best to give my spot to someone else.

I've been collecting core rulebooks for years now, I would love to be able to DM my own game, I would love to DM either Pugmire or Cyberpunk Red when it comes out since I loved Cyberpunk 2020.  One thing I'd love to do is host games in the mental ward of the hospital near me.  I've been there a few times and I can say with absolute certainty that it's incredibly boring between activities hosted by various mental health organizations or the hospital.  I don't think it's good for the mind to wander back to the place that put you in the hospital in the first place and I think it would be good therapy in itself for people who're recovering from their symptoms in a controlled environment.  It also gives them something to focus on once they're out of the hospital, even if they're going right back to the environment that sent them there in the first place, at least they'd have something to occupy their imagination for a bit???  I know that sounds silly but it's something I'd like to try out at some point, if possible.  I think games like DnD can be very therapeutic but it gets overlooked so much because a lot of people around here think it's a waste of time.  Even the guy at the used bookstore where I bought my first rulebook(the dnd 3rd edition rulebook) told me it was a waste of time, I think he said something like, "You'd think people would choose to do more productive things with their time, right?"

If you enjoy doing something, it's not a waste of time, even if it's just watching paint dry.

I've played it several times with friends and it's definitely a wonderful and unique experience. Especially so when I got to be a Druid. I would like to play it again, though I lack the time to do so nowadays.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I love D&D! I used to play it obsessively when I was in my teens. I used to play a Fighter (using the original D&D sets before they called them ‘Warriors’) and looking back on it, the character choice was pretty incongruous to my personality. If I was playing now I’d play a Thief. My brother and I played many campaigns including Keep on the Borderlands, Tomb of Horrors, Vault of the Drow (along with the entire Drow series), Death’s ride, Desert of Desolation, Duchy of Tenh, the Bloodstone series and many more. My favorites were Tomb of Horrors and Duchy of Tenh. I played only one character for the entire time and never got killed (though I came close MANY times!) and was level 36 by the time I more or less stopped playing. I even wrote a module once but never got a chance to play it. All in all, good times and I really love the game.
