how small are we really?

Will it be still worth joining after G4 has come to an end. I keep hearing that it's shrinking and declining but how active and how small is it and will it be until g5 comes around and in comparison to other fandoms? I get the feeling that this fandom is gonna wither away and die pretty quickly (a few years) now that and once the object of their fascination has consummated. since it seems to be only dedicated mostly to G4 and not the previous ones,

With bronycon 2019 coming up (the last one) and the series' finale being spoiled thanks to early airings and leaks from china i am afraid of the health of this fandom and wether the average joe/user will still see it as a fandom worth joining anymore. because traditional gender norms still stand and seriously, nobody these days wants to be a fan of Girls Toys and Cartoons (neither will I if this fandom shrinks and declines to the point of death and total obscurity), because they're for girls only and boys who like it have something wrong with their brains, according to society. Even when G5 finally launches, this community wont have the same effect and be as big as it was back in the early and mid 2010s. It's either this community has stabilized and is at average size or it's actually smaller than many fandoms and is about to join the ranks of other dead fandoms.

I am slowly migrating back to Gaming fandoms because of this and because they seem to outlast fandoms for cartoons and tv shows (you can replay videogames over and over again and they are more interactive and engaging than tv shows and cartoons). isnt that true?

They are the future, Toys like MLP wont have any place in this digital age. and besides, no adult and teen wants to be a fan of pastel colored tiny horses targeted for little girls.

i've onyl been here for a couple of months and if this is the case, I'm outta here. it's no longer fun here anymore. it's a funeral parlor and soon to be a ghost town here.

How big are we really in comparison to other fandoms? Are we average size or are we now smaller than other fandoms? We're not relevant anymore and we're not worth anyone's time anymore.

There's plenty of regular users here and we do more than just talk about the show. MLP is unique in just how much content has been almost overwhelmingly produced by fans and it's great to come back to it. With decent writing and seemingly endless creativity, there's years worth of stuff to still hang around for. Things have lulled but that's to be expected with something that's gone on for so long. I don't think we'll see the same height in popularity with G5, but there's already a guaranteed audience from most of us I think, and there'll probably be a bit of a spike if it turns out to be pretty good.

Toys are no longer the backbone of MLP, or most franchises intended for younger audiences I think, largely due to how electronically dependent we've become and a shift in culture. There will always be a demand but good compelling entertainment is what's really sought for. Something for the whole family to watch or participate in, and MLP has successfully done that without even putting in a lot of effort. Friendship is magic was never supposed to have this big of an impact, yet it did, and it's something we can return to and enjoy again and again. I haven't even finished season 8 yet and we've seen many new comers to the fandom this season who are trying catch up themselves. Not anything miraculous, but unexpected growth all the same. The brony community had been referred to as a cancer for the internet by many a frowning outsiders and trolls. So like a cancer we shall drag things out till the bitter end, but for now things will keep rolling.

Joining the brony fandom depends on people's interest. Nowadays, the fandom is getting smaller. The show was about selling toys but it became big and made a fandom for teens and adults to watch a little girl show. Ending BronyCon and Friendship is Magic doesn't mean the fandom just suddenly vanish. The fandom will keep moving and whenever people decide to be a brony and watch the cartoon show.

Oh, hi there @Newman1651. I am from the digital age. I was part of it when it was new, and I am still part of it. I was also part of MLP from the start, and I am still part of it.

I have seen people stay, and people go, no matter where they were, or who they were. That's life.
But hearing something like "MLP don't belong in the digital age, when it has been doing that since G4 started, is just plain crazy".

If it is worth staying is up to you. Everyone here is staying, because we like G4. :oneheckofahat:
