Brohoof: Standard reaction, but ultimately impacts user karma on the website so arguably the most important

The rest are pretty self explanatory...

Shocked: This post shocks me

Thanks: Thanking the person who made the post

Yay: For good news/etc, same way I'd use it irl

Smile: I never use this one, similarly to the way I don't really smile irl. But yeah, it's a smile

Laugh: This post made me laugh

Sad: This post made me sad

Excited: This post made me excited

Pondering: This post either confused the heck out of me or successfully challenged an opinion I held about something

Candy: I don't use this one often, probably just when the post pertains to candy somewhat?

Hug: Sending a hug in case someone's sad or something

Divacup: Someone's being a diva, overly dramatic etc

Brohoof = “I agree with this”

Shocked = Self-explanatory

Thanks = “I appreciate it”

Yay = “Great”

Smile = “That’s good news/to hear”

Laugh = “That’s funny” or a means of being sarcastic

Sad = “I’m sorry that happened”

Excited = “That’s awesome”

Pondering = “I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about”

Candy = When you want to be random

Hug = “I am here for you” or “I am happy for you”

Teacup = Same as a brohoof

What each reaction means to Me when I see them:

 

Brohoof = “They like or agree with something that I said.”

Shocked = "What did I say?"

Thanks = “Thanks.”

Yay = “Yay!”

Smile = “That’s good news/to hear”

Laugh, by pony = Pear Butter: “They think I'm funny!?” or Rainbow Dash: "Are they laughing with me or at me?" 

Sad = “I’m sorry to hear that or I'm sorry that happened to you.”

Excited = “That’s awesome!”

Pondering = “You're not making any sense, Sparklefan.”

Candy = When you want to be random

Hug = “I am here for you” or “I am happy for you”

Teacup = Same as a brohoof.

Shocked: "that's awful", "how could you", *le gasp*

Thanks: thanks

Yay: "yay", "woohoo", "huzzah"

Smile: this post makes me happy

Laugh: that's funny, I don't ever sarcastic laugh or laugh at someone with this

Sad: sadness, "I'm sorry to hear that"

Excited: excited for or looking forward to something

Pondering: deep in thought, this post has got me wondering

Hug: this user really needs a hug right now

Teacup: "I have nothing to say to you, but rather than saying nothing, I'll give this nothingness reaction so you know it", I don't like this reaction, I don't like giving this reaction, the very rare exception is if we're talking about tea and even then I try to avoid using it

 

Brohoof is my go to reaction unless the situation really calls for something else. The exceptions being teacup, which I mentioned above, and smile. The uses for smile are completely eclipsed by brohoof, and I can't think of a situation where it's better.
