general media OCs in main storylines

I was wondering, did anyone ever try doing a fanfic of anything where their OC is integrated into already existing storyline? And what is the general opinion on such act?

By this I mean creating an OC and putting them into already existing set of episodes, slightly altering the script so they fit right in.

Yes... Actually a friend of mine did that on fimfiction....it was nicely done... But of course once the melding starts it will start to diviate and starts to branch into another story..... Which is good because.. originality is important. And continuing to try to stick to the original script of the episode would...meh

@The Wife of Hawks @Kujamih And how about the case when you create an OC, develop for them a background and add them to the existing story and it not only alters some of the episodes but also expands some elements of the world that could be expanded in the original (but weren't)?

Truth be told.. no one is stopping you to do it... How bout you write down the story and post it for everyone to see and see how it goes.

Truth be told, kept it in my head for quite a long time. Slowly getting it out of my head to preserve.

AU role plays can be a good way to do that and evolved the OC in the ways you want and explore the "what-ifs". I often did this with Sailor Moon rps and and also Bleach rps way back in the days of gaiaonline.  I also have a dragonball au  i have been wanting to do for a while!

@Kujamih Yeah, good luck with that, me. Despite never getting it on a paper, this thing endured and evolved whilst keeping my sanity in check (childhood was kind of a social mess). For like 15 years or so, for crying out loud!

There's only one way to remove it from my mind...I think.

I actually have planned on doing that on my comics fail safe.... But i was a bit chicken and made an ....original first and test it out there before stepping into mixing it with the "originals."
