How much longer should FiM go before MLP transitions into G5?

Think theres a chance to make a live action movie with real people as the mane 6? Jackie chang as pinkie. John travolta as spike tom jones as fluttershy robert de niro as rainbow dash and madonna as discord and twilight and also applejack played by will smith and katie perry. Oh and tirek will be played by a 4 year old girl who just happened to be on the stage at that time oh and chrysalis will be played by an anti brony with an infereority complex and some kind of strange wart on his nose. Should it be good I will personally take all credit. Should it be bad blame hasbro. Hey somebody has to bring new ideas to the table.

That's just going overboard. Ermm... no sorry, I have to definitely disagree with that. I think Hasbro should just keep up their good work with FiM as always. I applaud them

yeah sorry just a joke I had a feeling was poor. I do agree hasbro should not change anything nor make g5 or 4.5. Its rather sad we are even having such a discussion when mlp fim is still in its prime if its even reached that yet. What I was saying in my last post is how bad change would be. I wasnt actually mocking it. I love the show and love what it stands for and most of the fans have been great so far including you as I love seeing your posts on this. Sometimes I do get carried away but I do mean well the g5 idea is quite further than carried away. Its pointless

I agree.. This should be called the last generation and the whole New Hasbro should just be called Hasbro from now on in my opinion. Your right, what Lauren did was far beyond anything normal in a very good way. FIM is doing well and if Hasbro decides for a new show than it should still remain in the same generation, with the same designs and it should set the SAME standard that FIM did with the gender and age barrier. I still don't think FIM will be closed anytime soon, after all. I will say this a million times and never get tired of saying it, a good show that is kept with new ideas, characters, and a storyline every now in the. Where it is kept and taken care of for top quality. It could potentially last for ages upon ages, decades upon decades, I believe you've mentioned a show that has been running well for well over 30 years and still running? Who knows. It could end in years, could end after We all die of old age. Time can only tell, but as long as the company stays strong and keeps taking care and ensuring the best in quality of each season the show could potentially last ages. I'm just taking a wild guess here, but it's safe to say that Hasbro knows what they're doing.., with everything but Equestria girls xD (I'm really sorry if that offends you but I really just don't like the film and watching it made me hate it even more.)

agreed on eqg I saw and it just promoted gawd awgul barby bratz hybrids however had they done it in a mlp design they could have really made a dent good of course. Who knows maybe well see a movie like that.

Well, there was news from a Hasbro executive earlier in the year who stated that MLP FIM would be on the air for at least another 5 years bringing it to the year 2019. With the popularity that the show has obtained so far, I can see it going on much longer than that. So long as Hasbro and DHX can produce the cartoon at the quality that it currently is right now, i'll be happy.

 

I just don't want MLP to become the next Spongebob (post movie era).

 

If FIM were to end and the next generation would be coming in, i'd want the series finale to be a full feature length Pony movie that is shown in major theaters worldwide. That would be a treat for all us fans since we've been dying for a pony movie for so long. Not to say that the EQG movies are terrible or anything, but Hasbro should clearly know what we fans truly want  .

As long as its creators feel it should and can go. Look, I hate to say it, but ultimately, aside from ratings, fans don't have much of a say or should in whether the show should continue. Its equally a business decision as it is a personal one.

 

Lauren Faust aside, its her inheritors to the show that will make the final decision, with or without Hasbro. I look at FiM the same way with the Simpsons. Fans and peers alike have been groping how The Simpsons are on its last legs, is stale compared to what it used to be, etc etc. But the show still gets plenty of viewers and solid (even good) ratings, and as Matt Groening himself said, as long as he feels he can continue writing and enjoy the Simpsons, he will do it.

 

The same really is no different for FiM. If the people who create FiM really feel it should go on, and they feel they have enough support, it probably will.

I don't know how long it took for them to transition from gen 3 to gen 4, but I would think that MLP would have to be off the air for some time before they begin gen 5. I don't think they would transition out of gen 4 while its still making them money.

Tbh im not looking forward to G5. Unless the art style stays similar and the characters still have depth, I won't really watch it. But I also think it would be great if instead of making G5 a 'girls only' show, it would be for both genders. Like, have more male characters and a little more action. That would be great

I think you'll find many fans like Season 4. Yeah, Season 3 was a drop in quality, but that's not enough to write off a series. Many series have had a bad season and recovered.

I hope it goes for quite a bit longer. It took 30 years to get it to this level of awesome and number of fans. I think it would  be better to keep it from being repetative and add a some more cliqes aside from the mane 6. Like CMC but maybe like Lyra and her friends. Bring the backround ponies in as mane ponies too. I'd love to see more Derpy, Vinyl, and Snowflake for sure. Or there is plenty of spin-off potential too. A Daring Do show or movie, Bronies would love to see something like that! If Hasbro works it right FIM could run as long as The Simpsons, Star Trek or even Doctor Who. They just need to keep expanding it, Like what is beyond Equestria or what other races are there aside from equines, dragons and griffons? It has plenty of potential left.  With how popular it is now they run it for 5 more years adding and expanding on it, Bronies would grow to be one of the largest fandoms. It is awesome already might as well make it bigger and better.

Being a sole FiM fan, and having basically zero interest in previous generations of the show, I can say that if future generations of the show don't maintain the style and direction that Faust began, then I can't say id be interested in future generations, as for the remainder of G4 I'm up for as much as they throw at us, as long as it maintains quality.
