Haha, this reminds me of Benjamin Franklin's observation that it's always been a big artistic challenge; how do you depict a sunset and a sunrise differently? Truth is, they look the same. So, given a still frame, it's really up to the viewer to interpret which it is.

 

I think of it as a dawn, for reasons I don't want to spoil in the fanfic

And the fact that the shadows aren't blobs

I loved that particularly. Not that hard, either, just copy the pony, do some stuff with the mask, make'em black and transparent, reshape and rotate. Requires some tweaking because of how shadows work, but really it's not that hard.

Sheesh! That's not #5! It's not nearly as good as the stuff below it! Hah - I guess subject matter really can have a huge impact, eh? And a little Wyrd (an Anglo-Saxon understanding of God as luck/fate, literally the root for the word "weird").

 

Oh my gosh, "Why Me!?" is really taking a new meaning for me right now.

 

I hope I don't get used to this, but I've got some great ideas for my next piece. Hubjababa - I still can't believe this is happening to me!
