What would the elements of harmony look like if a wielder didn't have a cutie mark

Just was wondering that since the elements of harmony look like their user's cutie marks what would happen if their user didn't have a cutie mark for whatever reason, what would they change to look like? Would they keep the appearance they had when Celestia and Luna used them, or look completely different?

It would most likely be something generic, or a crystal of the same color as the element. To add on, if the wielder got their cutie mark, then the crystal could change to whatever shape the cutie mark is.

I assume the situation would also pop up more for a non-pony then a pony who legitimately doesn't have their mark yet, I just can't see many situations where a filly would get a element

A pony without a cutie mark would probably still have the element take the form of their future cutie mark. Destiny being predetermined and all.

A non-pony on the other hand… it might look like something significant about their appearance, like how the cutie map used Spike’s head crest.

Your Cutie Mark does not force your destiny upon you. It's simply a representation of who you are not your destiny. Princess Luna points this out in Bloom and Gloom.

And besides, Spike doesn't have a cutie mark and yet an icon that represents his face appeared when the Cutie Map was calling for him in S7's Triple Threat. Same thing can apply here with anyone who doesn't have a cutie mark
