I used to be a stranger 7,994 June 12, 2012 Share June 12, 2012 (edited) Since My Little Pony is animated on a cross between 12 and 24 frames per second and on a television production budget besides, they don't have as much ability to make more accurate eye-blinking, or other minor (or major) movements that take very little time (such as smear poses). (This is a smear pose, a cross between volumetric character shape and motion blur. His hoof only looks like that for a single frame.) If you analyze the animated blinks in Disney or Pixar films, you will find that it is harder to see weird inbetween-frames like the ones that appear in Friendship is Magic. Nuances like these add (or detract) from the quality of animation, but they're usually too subtle and too fast for almost any viewer to notice, unless they so-happen to pause the video at the right moment. It's not fundamentally bad or good, it just labels its production value at "Television" rather than "Movie".
