and seriously why did Vegeta let Frieza transform? he made the same mistake with Semi Perfect Cell, not exactly a wise combatant when he continued to repeat his same mistakes against the main villains in DBZ,

Because of the pride, it's a thing of the Saiyajins, they want their opponents to use their full power against them in order to prove themselves, Goku himself said something like that to Freeza before he used his 100% power/form at some point if I remember correctly. They only try to eliminate when they are sure that the enemy has no more hopes or power to win, it's what happened to Cell during the fight with Gohan, Goku told Gohan to kill Cell because he was sure that Cell already used all the power he had and no more Androids to absorb or transformations (well, at least before he returned as Super Perfect), that's why he gave him the senzu before the fight. Not everyone will be like Goku or Vegeta though as some characters aren't thst tolerant with enemies, Trunks was one who tried to interrupt Cell's transformation. Other characters like Android 17 acted similarly too.

The thing with Vegeta is that he used to be very arrogant earlily, and sometimes, a coward too, aside from Cell trying to make into his head, in that fight he was superior and super confident, so he was excited to see a stronger Cell and didn't care that he could surpass him. In the other hand, he tried to interrupt Gohan from transforming into a Oozaru because he was already in a very battered state and he knew that he wouldn't be able to battle him.

It's interesting your comment, though I must say that the differences are only there because of course one is a pre-schoolar series made for little girls and the other one is a shounen made for teenage boys, and all shounens are pretty much about fights and power ups, so DB will never really try to solve the problems through the same methods as MLP, or else the story won't be "exciting" enough, that's at least how I understand their goal. MLP can go through a different route as it can make takes on what its intended audience likes. Girls like what? Beautiful and cute things? Let's make the Changelings be defeated by a beautiful glow formed by Cadance and Shining Armor's romantic relationship, King Sombra be defeated by another beautiful shine of light created by the energy of crystal heart and the crystal ponies, or Tirek defeated by the Mane Six with new designs with beautiful rainbows and sparkles that make Equestria look gorgeous again and cute again.

Well at least I believe that is the goal and for me it really works, though I must say that I also think DB sometimes try to solve the problems through kindness and forgiviness, the thing is that unlike MLP most of the villains in DB are pure evil, only a few of them decided to stop what they were doing because they recognized their mistakes like Tenshinhan, Granolla, Majin Buu. Goku tried to forgive Freeza and Moro but they continued being evil, and others were hard to convince like Jiren and Broly. (And also, some villain defeats in DB are very beautiful to look at, mostly in the movies, check out Turles/Shinseiju, Janemba or Hirudegan deaths for example)

Only 5 villains in G4 (comics and EQG not considered I still need to see more of them) were pure evil and remained as so, for me that is a really good number for a series that is all about Friendship, kindness and forgiveness, for such story I would expect all the villains to become good. It also works for me because the villains that became good in G4 also are 5 coincidentally ~☆

Well, almost a 1 after that post, I must say that my relation with the franchise really changed, I don't love MLP anymore, at least not as franchise, I became more of a casual who really enjoys G4 content, other things like G1 really didn't get into me, some parts and aspects of G5 are interesting for me but a lot of them like Tell your Tale just felt really empty and uninteresting for me. Not even G4 actually is loved by me anymore as it used to be, but I still really like it, from time to time I revisit episodes and the EQG productions, and checking the content that is still new for me, but other than that there isn't really much for me to see, G3 doesn't seem interesting for me and the rest of G1 and G5 content unseen by me neither. Really hope G6 or the next series will feel like G4 again, not saying that is necessary or anything, but just really because I think that is the only way new MLP content can catch my interest again, with the same G4 characters, but a different universe with new stories and concepts. If not, well I at least will continue being a "Brony" because of G4, I will remain because of G4, it's what made me become a brony at first, and I remain as one because of it ~☆

Fair enough, some shows are that good though that they have our undying support of, it still applies to Dragonball, but there are many other shows to be watching than the same usual suspect. And whether or not My Little Pony gets a G6 that matches if not surpasses G4 in quality, G4 will still have a special place for me, as it's the generation that got me interested in this franchise in the first place. Ed Edd n Eddy is an old show but I still watch this from time to time, it just shows that if enough work is put into a show, it reaches legendary status.

I'm well aware of the shonen aspect of Dragonball, that in itself isn't a reason to criticize its flaws, I have to make some allowances for it because sometimes characters make those mistakes I had mentioned for the sake of comedy, it has its moments, even with beings as prideful as saiyajins, I do admit it was hilarious seeing Vegeta get his comeuppance against Perfect Cell, however foolish it was to let him get that transformation, unfortunately though, his character growth wasn't even acknowledged in the Buu arc, that's where it became irritating for me, because he let his ego get in the way of dealing with a bigger problem, which allowed Buu's escape. To bring Majin Buu into the story, Akira Toriyama should have in my opinion written it better, not have Goku and Vegeta go at it in a contest of masculinity, a topic MistareFusion on Youtube touched on, a person who is a good critic of Dragonball by the way.
