mega thread What is life like in the Nightmare Moon universe?

We've all seen the world of Nightmare Moore at the end of season 5. What do you think the life of ordinary ponies is like in this universe? Rarity said that the castle is closed to the public because the tapestries need to be changed.

From this, we can conclude that the ponies come on an excursion to the castle of Nightmare Moon. Does it solve the pony's problems? Does she protect her subjects?

I would imagine it is like a place where you get to see or face your own nightmares.

Funnily enough it's probably best outcome for normal ponies out of any of the villain endings. Nightmare Moon might not be as benevolent as Celestia was but I doubt she wouldn't protect her subjects. Especially since she was sort of born out of jealousy of not getting the same love as her sister. 

It's harsher but relatively safe I'd imagine. Just don't anger her and you'll be okay.

Nightmare’s ‘Mooniverse’ would be a lovely place to live. For night owls like me it would be the best kind of world. Luna would be a good and protective ruler just as much as Celestia. Luna may not be all warm and fuzzy, but she does have a heart. She simply earned a bad name in the past because she didn’t like having her night overshadowed by too much day. Any night owl would agree with her and it doesn’t make us bad, it just makes us equally interested in the flip-side of the commonly favored daylight world. Luna doesn’t kiss-up to anypony, but that doesn’t make her bad; just serious. I’d love to live in her world.

In the world of Nightmare Moon, I would not need sleep. I would be in constant motion 24 hours a night. We're gonna get back to that. Nightmare Night is coterminous with Halloween, here in the human world, and this October, mah Princess haz sooprize for U all...

I think it would be a place of chaos. Where you would face your deepest fears and you will not be able to run. It would more or less be a sort of purgatory.

I think Nightmare Moon's world would sadly not be very happy...

While her universe is comparatively safer to the rest of the war-torn timelines we saw in season 5, Luna's whole reason for becoming Nightmare Moon was due to ongoing neglect that caused her to spiral hard into envy, of which sadly manifested in a distorted ego and superiority complex. So long as she's like that, the poor mare is sadly in no state to nurture an entire nation since such a burden naturally comes with a fair amount self-sacrifice. Rather than loving them unconditionally and providing them their own chances to shine bright, Nightmare Moon will only love her subjects so long as she feels she is getting the love and admiration she deserves, which could have potentially disastrous outcomes if she, at any moment, feels that her subjects aren't admiring her enough or there is even the littlest of push-back against her, real or perceived. Even if her Equestria seemed relatively fine when we saw it, I can't imagine it lasting very long under her rule before it either fall apart because her subjects couldn't keep up with her unstable demands, or just plain fails to thrive due to the oppressive nature imposed on it.

As for the rest of the land, no doubt her eternal night would have some pretty serious consequences. Equestria would need an entirely new food and agriculture system for starters, and I can only imagine how cold it will get without the sun to help provide warmth. Not to mention the sheer number of health problems that would arise from the lack of the sun, since so crucial for good health, such as maintaining healthy sleep cycles, vitamin D production + calcium absorption, and release of serotonin and endorphins (Its why ppl have such a hard time sleeping and feeling good in the Winter). Plus, who knows what monsters could be running loose without harmony and all that jazz to normally keep them at bay! Those first few years would not be easy and would need a LOT of magic and improved technology to counteract it, and even then could still cause a good amount of problems in the long-term 

To put it bluntly, Nightmare Moon's world would be one heck of a nightmare I'll show myself out

It would be a lot like @Luciferase's depiction, I imagine. I also imagine that those whose names or Cutie Marks relate to the sun would be treated harshly since Nightmare Moon would view them as being on Celestia's side. She'd probably find a way to banish those ponies to the moon, if that's possible.
