agigantorllama 258 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 Thank you DeviantArt for the vectors! I think it's great simple! Should I add more? 3 Digital Artist. Using GIMP.
NavelColt 22,882 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 Hmmm, I think it looks pretty decent for what the title says it is; a simple AJ wallpaper. I don't think anything needs to be added, no. Simple wallpapers don't usually have much on them, so AJ, the simple BG design, her cutie mark and name looks like enough. Though, my love of her sister relationship with Apple Bloom tells me to add her, despite how it would throw off the point of the image. Short answer is best answer. Nice job, and no, I don't think anything needs to be added, in my opinion!
ProjectRKA 2,848 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 (edited) Really nice wallpaper, there. If you want to make the reflection of AJ to look even better, you should try to put the opacity down on the masked layer. I usually put the opacity to around 50 - 65% when I'm making reflections Edited July 3, 2012 by ProjectRKA
FortyShadows 217 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 Looking good for a wallpaper. You might want to try more effects and uh stuff. ._. In the reflection, AJ looks like she's floating, so you might want to bring the reflected layer closer.

Yeah, I was thinking of adding effects and all but I didn't really have anything really suitable or anything that fitted in. You're right about the floating, I really didn't know how and where to place her on the line, and I tend to kind of spread the reflection too much sometimes. Digital Artist. Using GIMP. When making a reflection, you should use the default foreground to background gradient. At least, that works best for me when making reflections.

The best way to do reflection gradients is, as RKA said, to apply a layer mask and use the gradient tool to apply a black-white gradient to the mask. Now, about the wallpaper. For a simple wallpaper, I think it's pretty good. The only gripe I have is the font. It's obviously a default font and just doesn't fit well with the rest of the image. Other than that, I'd say pretty good job! Edited July 3, 2012 by Vexx3

Hazardus_Havard. 480 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 Sometimes simplicity is the best thing for images, especially wallpapers. Yours is enjoyable to look at and doesn't shove out "look at me!" to anyone just wanting a simple bit of wallpaper and that's good for simple things like this. But the colors behind Applejack feel a bit weak. Maybe it's because the colors mesh with her hair too closely. And it's a tad awkward to see that reflection underneath her, it almost appears like she's floating. 1 Practice makes perfect; but if nobody's perfect, why practice? http://hazardus-havard.deviantart.com/ Art http://www.fimfiction.net/story/70801/an-alien-walks-amongst-us Story

I usually use the hair and body color as background colors for ponies. Now to think of it, I don't think a reflection at all in this photo would do good. Digital Artist. Using GIMP. Hazardus_Havard. 480 July 4, 2012 Share July 4, 2012 I'll admit, this is one of my worst works in my opinion. I usually use the hair and body color as background colors for ponies. Now to think of it, I don't think a reflection at all in this photo would do good. Using colors similar to the figure in question to your work as background fillers is a nice way to finish up simple projects like this, but don't forget different tones of the same color can work just as fine. Now that I look at the image again after coming back from my courses, I do now notice you might want to make the text soft shaded. It glaringly pops out from the rest and declares itself the dominate trait in the image since it's hard lined while the rest of the image is soft. rainbovv dash 110 July 4, 2012 Share July 4, 2012 I really like the wallpaper, but putting the reflection so far from her just makes her look as she is floating. 1 My main OC: Storm Cloud

I usually color pick straight from the pony's skin, most of my images are starting to look the same. Right. I just figured out how to drop shadow and softglow on text. xD.
