first attempt ever drawing a pony *TIPS ENCOURAGED*

Scarfy HOOVES

Recommended Posts

I agree with BuggieLugs it is a good start. As for tips I have this: Keep drawing and preferably do it from reference until you know by habit how to draw a pony/filly, and make sure to draw different poses.

I like to do requests. Please, if there is something you want to see me, an amateur, draw for you, just send me a PM with the details and I'll say yay or nay. Most likely yay.

For a first attempt it's not bad, body proportion and muzzle size need a bit of work is all. You got the gist of it though.

Constructive Criticism on your drawing -

When drawing, you should really lightly draw on any paper, forming spots where you want to place your figures parts such as the head or torso. I can see you hard lined and tried to erase near the hoofs and eyes. After you have the areas you like as you see fit should you hard line to produce details in full force.

The eyes are the most expressed part in the drawings for the ponies; they tend to be somewhat oval near the temples or rounded out more as they appear younger. Don't forget the white's in the eyes.

The hair on top is somewhat flat, try putting some bounce into it and round it outwards from the head a bit.

Finally, try getting a sketchbook to contain any drawings you do in the future. You can see how you progress and make improvements and store some of the images you really like. You may also later on want to take some of those pieces you like to digitally clean them for whatever use they appeal to you.

As a tip, don't be afraid to use references from the show or even from other sources to create your own variations of ponies for a unique style to you. And only with continued practice and patience will you truly get better.

Mmm....I'm not very good at drawing ponies, but I think the ponies in my little pony have a bigger head (specially the children) and a thinner body.

Also their eyes tend to be more like: (diagonal) and not so - (horizontal).

Also add some "shine" to her eyes. It would make her look more "alive". And add some color.

Then it will stop being good to start being great!

That's good for your first drawing^^ What I did to get better is I stared down refs and tried to copy there style. Then as I got better I slowly developed my own style. Y'know, experimented.

Here ya go.

It's the best proportion study on fillies I've found so far. Just keep drawing and you'll improve.
