OC, linework experiment

Moved to Tucson, experimented a bit with my style.

First attempt turned out to be an absolute disaster and second turned out bit better but I didn't color it.

Critical criticism on the general linework would be very much appreciated.

The uncolored version is the second attempt picture and I realized that there's some kind of blip on her neck which I'm going to spend some time tomorrow trying to get rid of.

I just do not like the colored version because of so many problems associated with it. Her face is weird, linework is just too dark and her hindleg is messed up. I've at least learn some many things while trying these pieces.

My critique:

First picture:

  • Very nice line work, very clean and smooth.
  • The expression your alicorn has is priceless, I love it.
  • His/her hair is quite simply amazing.
  • The hoof that sticks out under the towel however is very bony and frail. You would think an alicorn would have srong, thick hooves.
  • The horn is nice and pointy, unlike other artists who make it rounded.

4/5

Second picture:

  • Once agian your line work is quite simply clean and smooth.
  • The hooves are bony, which seems to be your style.
  • The hair is nice and ruffled, giving it a nice look.
  • Dat cutie mark. All I can say for that.
  • The expression is remarkable, once again.
  • Can't say much for the horn.
  • The wing looks magnificent.

4/5

Thank you, you are very correct on hoof being perhaps too skinny. I'm going to work on trying to get a right proportion for that. The second picture however I am still not that pleased with, I had a feeling that the picture wasn't going to work out too well because I felt my underdrawing had a several issues; and all those issues became more pronounced after I've applied the linework. However like the artist I've been learning from have said 'stick with what you have done and learn from your mistake after you are finished.'

Don't misunderstand me, these are both very good drawings. I rather enjoy the second one much more than the first, honestly.

Thank you =)

Updated version with full color and background done. I've decided that I should at least make it a complete picture instead leaving it like that.

Edit: realized one of the fill was missing; fixed it.
