Roleplay World - Post Count incrementation removed in Roleplays

Recently, post count incrementation was removed for Roleplay Planning & OOC Discussion as detailed here. As per the suggestion of other members, as well as general observation of roleplay attitudes, it has been decided that disabling post count in Roleplays as well would be the best course of action.

 

This is due to how quickly posts are made within the Roleplays section, allowing members who simply frequent Roleplays to earn higher badges faster and rather unfairly as compared to those who do not. We do not feel it is fair to others who contribute in a more balanced manner across the site, nor do we feel that the current quality of roleplay posts is deserving of post count incrementation.

 

From now on, posts will no longer increase in ALL of Roleplay World again. However, we still implore and expect as much quality content in Roleplay World as the rest of the site. Even if your posts do not count, the same rules still apply and a standard must be held. Any spammish or rule-breaking behavior will still be treated as usual.

Great! Thanks! You removed the post count in the one section, other than cloudsdale, that I frequent. I do occasionally go to other subforums, yes, but not that often. Now how am I gonna rank up?

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU. So what? Just because people who roleplay level up fast that means that has to be completely ousted? That seems a little discriminatory to me. Well it's a bit discriminatory to those who don't RP as well, RP'ing posts didn't count before because Rp world was merged with Cloudsdale Colosseum, and it seemed more fair that way, and some members find it unfair that others are getting high ranks for only RP'ing >.> Edited August 5, 2012 by Pinkazoid

I highly doubt the section will lose that much activity. People post in there like wild, and really fast. But if it loses a little, it probably will be better in the long run. The quality in there as of late has been lower as compared to the rest of the site, and we need to encourage members to slow down, stop their rapid-fire chatroom-style posting, and post as is expected on the forums. Overall, I believe the change is for the better. We have several members who have only been here for a month and has a higher badge than a majority of other members and earned their badges through spamming one-liners. It isn't fair.

In my above post: just because post count was removed, does not mean that I will be expecting any less of roleplayers. The character limit will stay as it is as roleplays are expected to have longer posts anyway. It will not be reduced, and it will not be removed. lol, saw this coming. Let's just stick with it this time, if possible, that's all I can hope for. I'm not an RP whorse so I don't care whether it counts or not personally, but it's gotta be better to just stick with one way of doing things, after all. We now had our testing session, it apparently failed to meet Omnipony's standards, and now we are back to the way it was :3

In case you forgot, months ago you will not get any post count from Roleplaying!

 

It's a rather recent updates about the post count gain, and in that short time we got at least three users with over two thousands post alone from RP world. Magical, isn't it?

Some of the most creative, thoughtful people create RP's, I am second in command in one that is becoming one of the biggest most amazing RP's i have ever attended. I helped build the entire lore of the RP ground up. It has probably the best plot out of any roleplay I have played and I plan on making a fanfic out of it. So, I ask you, why should rpers be looked down upon? It has become my favorite past time activity and I really do not want to leave a forum because they discriminate upon RPers

There are people who only post in forum games, but you don't see them complaining. They enjoy what they post, and don't give a crap that posts don't count.

 

I roleplayed when nothing counted, and I enjoyed it. I actually have over 15,000 posts in the archive, and none of it counts.

 

You roleplay for the FUN of it, not because your posts go up.

Most RPs have dialogue, at least most of the RPs I'm in. Reducing it by 50 would help tremendously with the quality of those bits. It doesn't seem like much, but it makes a difference

Do you really only say two things in real life? You also think things. Just saying something short in a roleplay is pointless. You need to give attention to detail, so someone can add something back.

Well, I'm an Rp'er myself, I haven't been active this whole week, however I've come across members who easily gain their badges through low quality posts.

 

Not all Rp'ers are like this, but the ones who are, can be frankly annoying, they've reached badges that take others months to achieve, and they gain them in weeks.

Ok, so first off, Roleplaying takes skill. It is practically text based improv, if I am posting something creative and I am doing it often I expect to get it counted towards post count. Second, Games (well most of them) take little to no skill whatsoever, some are just one word posts, so of course they should not be counted.

 

Are you people really going to use the "well a couple months ago you wouldn't have been making any posts" ? I had not attended any forum at all a couple months ago, I learned of this through a mistake on google and decided to join. I did not even know the joys of roleplaying until now. Bottom line is that it really is discrimination no matter how you look at it.
