NavelColt 22,882 August 5, 2012 Share August 5, 2012 (edited) Sorry if this has been done before. Searched this forum, didn't find it. Links work for the initial status, but don't for replies. Why? Is this just how the board works? Something else that would require third party codes to get around, perhaps? Because just saying, it's a tad inconvenient. Yes, yet more complaining from Discord about his laziness not being appeased, but hey, on the internet with fickle people, the more convenience, the better. And it really just feels like something that should be a feature. Edited August 5, 2012 by ~Chaotic Discord~
Nas 2,873 August 5, 2012 Share August 5, 2012 Yeah, I full-on 110% agree that that part of the coding is ludicrous. I really hope it's optional, because it's kinda weird having to Copypasta each link in a status update. 1 My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...

I don't mind either, but if it is at all possible, whether a simple fix or third party codes someones has to develop, I think it's more than worth the time to make it possible, as it ups the convenience, which, again, can be a large factor in a site's makeup. Plus, I mean they're links for a reason, having to copy and paste seems very unnecessary.

I don't think it's an error, this is certainly not something new, it's been this way for a while. I've just now gotten to a point where I wanted to point it out. Strife 455 August 5, 2012 Share August 5, 2012 Actually, it is a well-known ... oversight. Every forum I've been to that runs this software does the same thing. It bothers a TON of people, but Invision Power Services doesn't really have a real responsive customer service team.

Bohtty 1,775 August 5, 2012 Share August 5, 2012 It's not really an error per-say. It's just a feature they haven't built into comments on statuses. It's just interpreting everything as plain text. My guess is they just got lazy and decided to implement the simplest commenting system they could. xD Feld0 would know most, but I think if we want it we either have to mod it in ourself, which would probably be pretty easy in comparison to some tasks, or we can open a thread on the IPS forum and ask them to implement it in their official build. Shiki 5,855 August 5, 2012 Share August 5, 2012 I've yet to make a comment on anyone's status -- hell, I haven't even put down a status yet, myself -- so this kind of thing really doesn't even affect me. You'll be entranced by me ♥
NavelColt 22,882 August 5, 2012 Author Share August 5, 2012 Well we can ask god man himself then, and see if we can't get -someone- to try and make a work around, unless it's somehow too hard. Though like Bohtty said, this -seems- like a minor thing that wouldn't be that hard to do.
Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,527 August 6, 2012 Founder Share August 6, 2012 Actually, it is a well-known ... oversight. Every forum I've been to that runs this software does the same thing. It bothers a TON of people, but Invision Power Services doesn't really have a real responsive customer service team. My experience with IPS customer support has been first-rate. The support team is, however, separate from the developers, who do the job of implementing new features. I have seen some of my suggestions accepted and implemented into the core before. This is nothing more than a shortcoming in the status update commenting system. The status updates system is pretty barebones as it is, so I wouldn't be surprised if comments aren't parsed in any fashion to turn URL's into links. IPS have hinted that they are looking to improve the status updates system in the future, but I'll suggest this to them in their feedback section. It only makes sense, really. 2 Avatar credit: robinrain8 Signature credit: Kyoshi
Dave247 568 August 9, 2012 Share August 9, 2012 You could try manually entering the URL BBCode but as Fedl0 said how the comment function is limited I doubt it would work.
