Help coming up with a name!

I'm having trouble coming up with a name for my OC pony here but her story is like this:

 

 

Her mother is a zebra; her father a pegasus. Grew up on land [Not in Equestria, probably where Zecora is from], but isn't afraid to venture up in the clouds. She doesn't have her cutie mark. She basially gave up on forcing herself to try and find it and thought it would come easier if it found her. She's traveled on hoof throughout Equestria rather than flying becuase having a close up look of something different is better than a general overview. Open to trying new things. KInd of embarrassed of ponies finding out she's a pegasus becuase the stripes and wings bewilder ponies more. However, she's not afraid of soaring in the clouds like the rest of the pegasi.

 

I was orignally going to call her Striker and make her black with white stripes [like the pokemon Blitzle] but threw it out the window. Like, whenever ponies don't listen to her, she gets angry and can stomp out a lighting bolt from the puffiest white cloud. But I don't like this idea anymore.

 

I'm trying to find a name that suits her since she likes to be on the land and sky equally

It could be something, that has something to do whit your profile name. It, could maybe be a good idea, if you change her colors.

Octavinyl, I would add color to her, but I don't have any skills in photoshop or gimp or some other paint program. I usually use color pencils, but I'm never any good at coloring and shading and whatnot.

Your character has an interesting backstory. I can't really think of a name though. Storm Bird? I dunno man, but you could always use the random pony name generator.

I was thinking of maybe Horizon since it's where the land meets the sky but I'm not sure if it would work for how she looks.

DylanKLJ and Jalaton, I think those names have some possiblity, Horizon and Soul Wing. And I love the fact that people are getting as stumped as me when it comes to naming this interesting cross breed.

 

Ok, I've found a couple of names for my OC pony. I've narrowed it down to the following:

• Adulei
• Nutad
• Rinow
• Aolani [A-oh-law-nee] I think Hawaiian for heavenly cloud
• Alaula [A-loo-la] *Hawaiian for Light of Dawn which is similar to horizon

I honestly could not find a nice translation for Horizon in any language.

Since your OC loves to be on land and sky...perhaps Skystrike would be a good name! Or Thundercloud. Or Thunderstrike!

hmmm... those names are all hawaiian right? Well shes half Zebra and grew up from where Zecoras from right? Maybe the name should be African. Perhaps in swahili? i thinks thats what Zecora was speaking in. I went on google translate i typed in horizon for swahili and got "upeo wa macho" ... yeah thats doesn't seem like a name at all... i did more research and found that literally means "maximum of eyes"? O_o its google translate... what u gonna do? I guess there no literal word for horizon in that language. But something in swahili may seem better.

 

EDIT: i typed in "sky land" and got "anga ardhi" does that sound good?

idk... i feel the mane should be darker. maybe a dark brown. That pic doesn't say what the manes color should be. =/ But ofcourse thats not up to me to decide. Just my opinion.

Well if u go darker u hit brown don't u? i mean u will eventualy hit black heheh. Maybe a brownish color might seem better.

Yeah seems a liitle better than just a pale pinkish color. Gives her a bit more color. But i guess we have to see what SnoNight has to say on the matter.

@Shadow Chaser, thanks for giving my OC some color. I really appreciate that! I was thinking of a white mane and her snout would be air brush color, not solid. Also a stripe in her hair like Crest toothpaste. But now that I see those colors on her, don't know if I should stay with the traditional black main color and white stripes :/

What about that "anga ardhi"? Means sky land. I certainly thought it seems interesting. But whatever thats ur choice. Out of the hawaiian names i like the Alaula one. Also u wanted a white mane on her? ... hmmm... imagining that... it seems interesting. imo it seems a little ... pale? idk how to put it. But i like the brown in there. Zebras can be brown can't they? meh =/

I'm still digging Adulei. And I'll work on recoloring her some time tomorrow. That part is too easy.

 

Edit: Something like this? I wanted to change the hair but wasn't sure what to change it to.

If she were to be the original colors, I was thinking a sand for main fur, dull tan for stripes, dark brown hooves, kinda airbrushed dark brown snout, and white main with a brown streak in the middle.

 

But now that I've seen and also colored her with both of my ideas, I honestly don't know what scheme to choose or just come up with a better one. @Shadow Chaser You honestly don't have to color her anymore. you've done more than enough

I've got nothing better to do and recoloring is such a quick swap that it takes me maybe 5 minutes in all. Zebras are hard to color though. Black and white, I think, will always look best but she didn't look bad with the dusty brown colors. Stripes just make it rather difficult for all the colors to blend.

imo the white mane would seem right with the sandy coat. How bout a dull brownish? or a tanish sort of color. Like the snout or stripes but little different. Makes her see more like she from the desert. If thats ok with u ofcourse. Its ur choice... maybe i should just stop saying my opinions...

To the pony name generator!! It helps for inspiration for me at least. Love the backstory though its great. Fluttercora came in my head but i dont think it sounds good.
