Kapi 215 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 Dawww, now I feel even more sorry for poor little Scoots. Here's a thought though, WHAT IF the reason she is portrayed as an orphan is because of this? It might be a bit deep for a kids show, but its worth a thought, maybe her parents were disappointed in her ability to fly. Or, perhaps its just thoughts running wild, and its not true. Food for thought. "No, I am not going to run, I am not going to hide, I am going to take a stand and fight!"

Food for thought. That's not too deep. I've seen a kid's show that featured a horrendously evil villain taking over a kingdom and turning the families of most of the main characters into robots, while said main characters had to form a resistance against the villain. That's deep. In all seriousness though, it's an interesting concept. If Scootaloo is indeed crippled like Lauren Faust said, and it caused that to happen to her, then it would definitely make a great episode. But just to forewarn you all, it would probably be one of those 'very special' episodes. Don't expect there to be alot of humor in an episode like that. talkingmuffin 32 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 (edited) While disappointing to hear, I have to make a rebuttal. Scootaloo is actually a chicken. Also, as we all know chickens cannot fly. Therefore that is the real reason why she cannot fly. Kidding, very sad to think one of my favorite fillies have this problem. Kapi 215 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 That's not too deep. That's deep. By any chance, are you talking about "Sonic the Hedgehog?" (SatAM) In all seriousness though, it's an interesting concept. If Scootaloo is indeed crippled like Lauren Faust said, and it caused that to happen to her, then it would definitely make a great episode. But just to forewarn you all, it would probably be one of those 'very special' episodes. Don't expect there to be alot of humor in an episode like that. My train of thought is this, Pegasus ponies are supposed to be able to fly. If Scootaloo is crippled, and is not capable of flight at all, and her parents knew of this, they may have been upset, and possibly decided "she's not one of them." This would explain several things, at least. There are real world examples of this kind of situation. It could also be that we don't know much about her "just because.". Same with several other characters on the show, but I think the fact that she's "crippled" sheds a little bit more light on her life. I should note though that even if what I said is true, it still doesn't mean her and RD are related. Its been stated on numerous occasions that they're not, BUT, that, and everything else could possibly change. TailsIsNotAlone 3,695 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 (edited) There must be an episode about this, and I'm not even a fan of the CMC. But if they're allowing Lauren's plans to remain canon, it's an issue that should be explored. It would also address those fillies' urgent need for some character development, so they're not just running around annoying us for 22 minutes. My idea: Scootaloo, RD and Fluttershy nurse an injured bird back to health so it can fly again. Fluttershy would be in her element, we would see a different side of Dashie, and most of all, it's a good way to give Scoot her cutie mark. kirbyboi 588 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 (edited) Scootaloo.....crippled? D: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Probably not true. But then again, in some one episode where they start making all the newspaper articles, Scootaloo couldn't really fly. But maybe that's because she's just a fillie. After all, it took time for unicorns to get magic, right? And Sweetie belle doesn't really use her magic either....at least, not yet. In one episode, I want to see if she can fly, or have Rainbow Dash teach her how to fly and do a sonic rainboom. Now THAT would be a cool episode! Shadow Chaser 633 September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 (edited) I think I'm a little late to this party but the optimist in me loves the idea that Scootaloo can't fly. Because it can easily be used to teach kids that, just because you can't do one thing that you really want to do, doesn't mean you can't be great at something else all together that incorporates your love of that first passion. The pessimist in me sees it as a kind of: No matter how hard you work sometimes your dreams are just a little out of reach. (And then the optimist comes back and adds: But that doesn't mean you should ever stop trying.) I really like Scoots and all the CMCs. I've always found their episodes to be a little awkward but cute all the same. I think if they do stick with her being unable to fly, as far as an episode, then it has to come on the shoulders of all the other ponies sharing stories of things that wanted but just couldn't have. Maybe have a quick visit from Celestia to admit that even her wings were a little weak when she started flying. Edited September 23, 2012 by Shadow Chaser 1 "The dead don't talk.
