Somewhat. It connects to your phone via Blue Tooth. So it basically becomes an extension of your phone. This one doesn't have a speaker on it, which is fine, because I don't want to talk to people on a watch. It does have a microphone for voice commands. But I will probably never use that.

 

There are ones that can almost be your phone, but they require a data plan. And I always have my phone on me anyway. This is so I don't have to keep taking my phone out, which helps the phone battery and reduces the chance of me dropping my phone.
