"They're all coming from the Fade, dimwit, or have you forgotten the whole point of this?" Jack said in his usual cynical voice, "According to the demon, the portal is in the abandoned asylum. Do you know where that could be?"

 

 

 

"Oh my, Risho's dead now as well, and they likely know where we are now, too. I suppose we should be scarred now." Butajiri said.

 

"Risho and Hirue were lower class. All they were good for was stalling for time. I will not make their mistakes of overconfidence, I know the enemy is strong."

 

"Are they too strong for you, Gama?"

 

"Strength means nothing if you cannot move. Let the master of disguise handle them."

Maven looked at him, "Nightfall, whatever you're seeing, we can't. Trust me, to us, it looks like you're chasing your tail," she turns to Jack, "You're demon makin' him crazy, or just giving him insigt to something the rest of us can't see? Because we really don't need another crazy pony." *Gestures at Sapphire*

 

Sapphire: "He-ey!"

 

"Crazy?!"

Nightfall stopped and stared at Maven. It was true. His brain was working overtime, it seemed.

"I- I guess you're right.. Let's just get to that asylum as fast as we can... Before I do anymore damage..."

Nightfall felt terrible inside. His visions of his parents were slowly flooding his mind. Before he knew it, he was collapsing onto his knees.

Sapphire stared at Jack for a long time, then sighed. She walked up to him and softly smacked him; she was tiredish of fighting, "Would you please stop calling Nighty dimwit, and other derogatory names. He has self-confidence and worry issues sometimes, and you tend to feed the flames."

Cherry Blossom began to feel impatient, but she knew that a job like this would require discipline. "Maybe it's safe to come inside now. Whatever is happening in there..." She thought to herself as she slowly flew inside of the police station. Her stomach was beginning to be "full of butterflies" when she got inside.

"I'm so sorry. " Jack said sarcastically "Do you think the demons will be sensitive about his self confidence issues? Maybe you should give them a firm talking to while they're eating children, or you could start worrying about the real problem before that happens. Now does anyone know where the Asylum is?."

Nightfall pointed a hoof as he slowly got up. His legs were shaking, but for no obvious reason.

"It's that way, just keep going that way, and you'll find it somewhere over there."

He couldn't think clearly. This demon's power must have drained his own, because negative thoughts came to his mind.

Sapphire stared hard at Jack, "Just because the demons would do it doesn't mean YOU have to do it. What purpose does it surve? To toughen him up? He's already tough! He's been through a lot and he's gunna go through more and you're STILL insulting him!" She teared up and slammed a hoof into the side walk, cracking it a little.

 

Maven came up next to Nightfall, "Hey, chin up there. Pay attention to more than the invisi-bugs. You're mare-friend is picking a fight with your demonized friend." She hums a light tune, looking at him.

"Maven, Den, neither of you need to follow, though I will not stop you if you so choose." Jack started to walk in the specified direction. "Nightfall, Ai expect you to come."

 

 

 

A cloaked figure stood at the entrance to the asylum with the same posture and height as Risho.

She angrily munches on a brownie, gets distracted, and becomes happy again, "I'll go." She says cheerily. She looks at Nightfall quizzically, "Are you feeling sick, Nighty? Do you want a brownie too?" she walked up to him and offered him one.

She angrily munches on a brownie, gets distracted, and becomes happy again, "I'll go." She says cheerily. She looks at Nightfall quizzically, "Are you feeling sick, Nighty? Do you want a brownie too?" she walked up to him and offered him one.

 

"Maven, this better not be some ploy to get me to come."

He looked up at Sapphire.

"Not just sick... Like I'm responsible... Responsible for... Well, you know. And I'm sorry, but I don't feel like eating sweets right now..."

He hung his head.

"Maybe... Maybe I should go... Maybe I'll die and get what I deserve..."

"At this rate the portal will open in a matter of hours. We cannot wait for Maven. Looks like it's just me and Sapphire." Jack turned to Nightfall. "I hate to leave without my favorite dimwit. But like I said before I cannot force you. Enjoy the bugs." he began to walk expecting Sapphire to follow.

He got up, head hung, and started walking slowly after Jack.

"Your body is in shock, Nightfall, you are not being possessed." Jack assured, "It will pass in time." Jack lead the way as they walked to the abandoned asylum. Standing at the entrance was Gama, the cloaked figure that stood as tall as Risho.

 

"Only three?" he asked, "I was told to prepare for four guests. It is unfortunate if one of you fell to Risho's trickery. No warrior should die to a coward without honor."

He didn't know what he was doing here, yet. All he knew is that the era of superheroes had to end.

 

Oh, it was nice having them around, to be sure. Villains being defeated, petty crimes being stopped, but it was just a vicious cycle. As long as there were heroes, there would be villains, and vice versa. Heck, eventually some of the heroes would become the villains themselves. He didn't necessarily like the task, but it stood in front of him, crystal clear. The vigilantes and villains all needed to be stopped. And they needed to be stopped immediately.

 

Wits stepped into the Police Station and showed his badge to the secretary. It said "Wits End, Detective Specialist". These ponies had strange and powerful magic abilities, and the station needed someone who could understand them, find them, and stop them. It wasn't ideal, but it was necessary. He had been charged by Celestia herself to do his best to stop this menace. Right now, though, the first order of business was to establish contact with the Chief of Police. That's where he was headed right now.

 

No more nonsense. This was an end.

Cherry Blossom turned to see a stallion that just walked inside of the Police station. She just decided to get herself to a waiting chair to wait for whoever was in charge to come back. Though she kept staring at the stallion, the look on his face made it seem he was determined to do something.

Upon realizing that nobody was present, Wits backed up out of the station and examined it. It appeared a crisis was up. He used a magic pulse to try and decide what was wrong, then made a call on his phone to the chief of police to try and understand the situation.

 

"Detective Specialist Wits End," he said, his voice quick and concise. "Give me the basics of the situation."

(Birthday dinner is delicious but time consuming; don't be surprised if it takes me a while to post)

 

The Music Maven entered the police station and sighed. Two ponies here for whatever reason, one in a waiting chair, the other standing. "You ponies can't be here," she hissed, "The place is rigged to blow, and we can't defuse the bombs. Unfortunately they don't have ears, and our police squad, minus two cops, quit a few days ago. I can attempt to help a reasonable request." She had a headache already.

Cherry Blossom panicked and immediately jumped off of the waiting chair when another pony spoke. "E-Excuse me, but did you say b-bombs?!" She asked in a soft but frightened tone. Her body was shaking at the thought of the police station becoming a million bite sized pieces.

Maven rolled her eyes and played a calming song on the flute she picked behind the desk. The atmosphere grew calmer and it would take a very strong-willed pony to break it. She then said, "Remain calm and exit the building. We can talk more there." She gestures to the door.

Cherry Blossom flew outside of the police department exactly as she was told to do so. She began to relax and started to breathe at a normal pace. She then waited outside in front of the police station. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." Cherry Blossom thought to herself.

Jack eyed the black, studded cloak that Gama wore. "That robe! You are one of the elite assassins of the..."

 

"... One of the elite assassins for the king of Demon world's fifth territory. I'm surprised that you knew that, most demons don't know of our order."

 

Jack glanced at Den and Nightfall. "Be careful. Even the weakest of this order are much stronger than the last demons we fought."

She saw the pony dressed up like a detective looking at her distastefully. She shrugged and went outside. "So, why are you here? And what is your name?" She asked the waiting pony, with a bit of a musical lilt, "Sorry I wasn't here sooner, there's a bit of a discrepancy."
