"WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!?" The doctor roared. He tried to extend his leg again, but nothing happened. His Transformation was wearing off. His muscles, teeth and bones slowly retracted to their normal size, until he was the same, old mess he had been. He ran into a corner and took a defensive pose. "No!" He yelled, "Wait! What if I told you their parents were still alive! But only know where they are and only I know how to cure them! Kill me now and you'll have two more innocent deaths on your conscience! And know you can't handle that, can you?"

Jack sullenly said, "I refuse to fight you because you do not give me reason to. As for what I do, you're going to have to get more specific with that question."

Nightfall swung a bit too late, and ended up falling hard on his right side, recurring everything. He swore he heard a crack near his shoulder. He could only glare at the Doctor.

"Then get out. Now."

He sounded stern, hurt, and pissed off. Nightfall just watched the Doctor from his side. He lifted his head slightly, but he was hurting and couldn't hold his head up for long.

[Octavia's Bow 2,035]

"Round and round the bullet train," he sang squeakily, "I don't have to kill you!" he giggles, taking out a pair of hoofcuffs. He snapped them around both of their wrists. "Now we can be bestest friends forever and you won't hurt the captain! Isn't it great?" He begins to prance around the doctor, occasionally falling down and forcing him to turn in circles. Obviously, he'd gone bonkers. "Now we have to go outside and give the Captain time," *Laughter and dragging of evil mad scientists outside of the room*

Lapis closed his eyes in frustration. He hated having to explain when ponies weren't clever enough to understand him. Perhaps this pony wasn't as smart as himself. He reopened his eyes and stared deeply into Jack's. "I have this urge to fight. I gained these powers, and I want to use them. I was once a normal pony, who's only passion was the acquisition of knowledge. I was a gentle stallion, who didn't want to hurt anypony. But something happened, of which I'm not at liberty to tell you about. As I was saying, I just want to fight, but I hold myself back. I've noticed you have unusual power as well. What do you do with it? What are you hoping to achieve in life? Just satisfy my desire to learn. If you wish us to part company, I'll oblige. I have nothing better to do..." he said with a distant look in his eyes.

Jack continued to speak in his usual manner. "I seek power because it allows me to do what I see fit. I fight with it when I see fit. I have no aspirations other than what I want at any given time and with power I can obtain it. There was a time when I fought under a code and obeyed the orders of the only pony I have ever come to respect, but that time is not now. And don't you think for a minute that we are equals. I have obtained through pain what you could never read in a book. I have had enough of your talk of greatness. Your power is nothing. Be gone."

[Nightfall 3,950]

Nightfall lie on the floor, reflecting on what happened to Den. He tried looking around before finding a wheelchair. But he remember he would need somepony to push it for him. Unless...

He magically, and slightly painfully, brought the wheelchair over and tried climbing into it. He needed to get Den and figure out what had happened to him.

Ichigaki reached into his coat pocket with his free hoof. He pulled out a small remote and pressed a red button, which seemed to be the only button on the remote. "You can't outsmart the brilliant Dr. Ichigaki!" He gloated, "I would like to introduce one of my earlier experi-" He was forced to the ground again by Den's circling. "WILL YOU STOP THAT?!?"

Lapis chuckled softly. "Well, you aren't as boring as I thought. You know very little of me. I've seen the world and then some. I had a glorious life. But that life died with my sanity. You see this lovely little gem. Perhaps I told you of it. It is what gave me my powers, but it came at a cost. I am most certainly not the pony I once was. Think on that when you question who I am. And I'm only unused to these abilities. I know with time you shall come to respect me. Good day, Jack the mysterious unicorn." he said mostly with humored sarcasm. With that he turned around and hailed a taxi. He returned once again to his warehouse basement on the outskirts of the city. There he went back to his monitors and resumed watching Manehatten.

[Octavia's Bow 2,035]

"All around the mulberry bush," he sings merrily prancing around the doctor, "The copper crushed the button," he stops on the part of the remote that didn't have the red button on it, "The doctor sang along with his song, Pop! Goes the pumpkin," he says, jumping. Then he started rolling on the floor laughing.

[Nightfall 3,950]

"Den!"

Nightfall had gotten into the wheelchair and was rolling up, slowly, towards the two.

"Den! What in Celestia's name is wrong with you! And as your commanding officer, I demand to know!"

Nightfall was ready to fight and/or call in back-up. Den was messed up in the head, and if he couldn't get an answer on how now, he would get on later, when he technology on his side.

"Sorry, Den is out right now," Den says, the fog in his eyes clearing momentarily,"He says he is emotionally unprepared for duty at the moment, and that right now the killing of three innocent young people has grated on his mind, and that you should probably send him to jail for murdering innocent ponies," he adds in a sing-song voice. Then his eyes cloud over again and he dances around the doctor.

"Sorry, Den is out right now," Den says, the fog in his eyes clearing momentarily,"He says he is emotionally unprepared for duty at the moment, and that right now the killing of three innocent young people has grated on his mind, and that you should probably send him to jail for murdering innocent ponies," he adds in a sing-song voice. Then his eyes cloud over again and he dances around the doctor.

 

Nightfall closed his eyes.

"I respect you protecting me, Den, but because you've gone crazy..."

Nightfall's horn started glowing in an attempt to call back-up. He started standing up, but it was hard, because he was still unstable, and the wheelchair couldn't do much to provide stability, being a wheelchair.

"bingo!" The doctor said happily as he wiped the blood from his mouth, "He's gone mad, and you're about to be mine! My beautiful Gatasubal can't be far off now. He always comes when I call for him. I'm sure you aren't familiar with my work so I'll give you a hint. Gatasubal's name translates to Spectral Steel Beast. Such a lovely name, Don't you think?"

Den layed down, shaking,"The eart is spinning sideways," he giggles, "And it's fading like a lightbulb," he adds, beginning to shake. And then a very Den-like voice says, "Urg, so this is what shock is like. Sir, if I die, can you avoid mentioning the dead foals at my burial. It would kill my brother." Then he started shaking violently on the floor.

"I'd suggest you start running now, officer. Gatasubal is very efficient!" The doctor said to Nightfall between laughs. Den's hysterical performance was beginning to amuse him. "Your partner is very entertaining, I really must say."

 

A faint booming sound could be heard from outside the hospital.

[Nightfall 3,950]

Nightfall looked up and closed his eyes. He slowly lifted himself into the air with his wings. A shaft of white light shot upwards as his hooves and legs extended. He looked down at them with pure white eyes and a slightly stern demeanor.

"Run. Run for your sake, doctor."

He sounded like the voice of a thousand tongues.

Den stopped spazzing and looked around him. His mouth was dry and his shoulder was on fire. His shoulder had managed a thin scab and he looked at his hoof. It was still connected to the doctor and he smiled grimly, "Ohoh, this is gunna be fun," he says, smiling sadistically. He took his handcuffed hoof and began to wail on the doctor as hard as he could, "I hope your monstrous friend is efficient. That way I can use him to kill you and not have to worry about the moon," he snarls.

The doctor braced himself in a corner. "TOO LATE!" The doctor shouted. A huge mechanical tube shot through the hospital window, leaving shards of glass flying through the room and onto the floor. "MEET GATASUBAL! He's a real bitch to get through airport security, but I always bring a little insurance." The mechanical tube hooked to the window frame as the robot controlling it began to pull itself up the hospital walls. "Yes Gatasubal is one of my earlier inventions, and he does make quite a scene, so let's make this quick." A second tube crashed into the room and clung to the wall.

Nightfall turned around sharply. He pointed his horn at the robot, then shot a quick succession of slightly harmful spells. His wings were moving slowly, gracefully, keeping him absolutely level. But in the back of his mind, the new powerful Nightfall knew this battle would be hard, considering he low his level of power was already.

"Oh, I'm looking forward to it, doctor" he spits, dragging him to the window, "Let's see if he has a friend or foe reader," he adds, propping the doc up against the window. "If not, I'm more than sure the captain can handle him while you and I both fall to our deaths. You ever hear of retribution, doctor? I have three foals in mind right now that would have had retribution on their minds, if they were still with us." He flung the doctor into one of the tubes on the wall hard enough to dent it*

[Miss Light Diamond 2,802]

After a few hours of sleep Clayton got up put some bits into his bag and flew back into the city. On his way downtown he flew by the hospital where he could see what looked to be a robot climbing the side of the building with a couple robotic pipes going into some of the windows. This looks interesting. Clayton thought landing on a nearby building and waiting to see what happens next.

The tube rapped around the doctor and held him up. The body attached to rhe tubes pulled itself up to the window. It looked nothing like a pony. It was an enormous, eggshaped steel ball with a red light in the center of its body. The fact that it made no noise gave it a ghostly feel.

 

The doctor ordered the machine, "Go now, Gatasugal! Kill the pegasus, capture the alicorn!"

 

The machine extended its steel arm at Den.

[Nightfall 3,950]

Nightfall increased his shots' power, targeting the red light. He was beginning to get desperate. He couldn't end up a lab rat. All he needed was to shut the machine down or die trying. He wouldn't accept being captured.

"Doctor, shut it down..."

The alicorn's pure white eyes narrowed.

The lasers bounced off of Gatasubal, causing no harm. Its armor wasn't even scorched.

 

"Yes, I think you will find my robot quite unbreakable! You see, nothing can break his armor, and he cannot feel pain!"

 

(Hint: even the strongest substance breaks when crashed into itself, and pain is not a weakness.)

Den ducked and it broke the handcuffs. He picked up a monitor and smashed it over the metallic arm, watching sparks go across the metal plating. Then he dove for the sword he dropped earlier and came up in a defensive position. He watched the robot carefully.
