The unicorn easily dodged his simple attacks. They were not worth memorizing. Wits did not even seem to be trying. The unicorn took that as an insult. "I hope you can do more than that, detective. It's getting very boring... Perhaps I was wrong to assume you were going to bring entertainment.

 

((He's using very basic attacks while he tries to lock down his aura. Its his standard technique.))

 

Wits kept lobbing simple attacks and simply charged attacks, focusing more on keeping the enemy way, as he dug deeper into his aura, discovering his weaknesses and coming closer to being able to lock down his magic and movement.

 

"You're an interesting fellow, aren't you?" he said, speaking calmly. "Not from around here. Or this dimension, for this matter."

Cherry Blossom flew inside of the police station lobby, it seemed to be as secure as yesterday, but sh didn't dare to go deeper into the police station. She looked around and saw an air vent; she could possibly get through the station using those without triggering the explosives.

"Enough talking!" The unicorn wailed. He stepped onto the dirt and began to spin. The rotations became more rapid and he actually dug himself into the ground. A few moments later, he jumped out and was competely covered by a layer of dirt that was packed as hard as rock and strengthened by his strange energy. "Armor Of Clay!"

"Enough talking!" The unicorn wailed. He stepped onto the dirt and began to spin. The rotations became more rapid and he actually dug himself into the ground. A few moments later, he jumped out and was competely covered by a layer of dirt that was packed as hard as rock and strengthened by his strange energy. "Armor Of Clay!"

 

Wits made a few tentative plucks at his aura.

 

If he had calculated right, they should shut off the magic to this new attack, but for direct magical prevention, he needed more time, something that was not readily available.

 

But now, there was a lot of spare dirt....

 

He launched a blast at the ground.

 

"See you later!" he shouted, and a bunch of dust flew everywhere, obscuring the vision of anyone around.

Delphina nodded, but said "I'm not letting you in until you say the words, Nightfall." She stared at him, semi-hopeful from behind the door.

 

"What words..? Um... 'May I come in?' Um..."

He blushed. He assumed he knew which words she wanted for him to say, but... could he say them..?

"Delphina, do you want me to say... those... words? As in, um... Really..?"

He kept blushing. He couldn't keep of from saying them any longer.

"Delphina... Um... I... I love you, Delphina..."

His blush was very obvious now.

Cherry Blossom inhaled and exhaled as she climbed into the air vent. She kept breathing tensely as she crawled deeper into the into the air vent. There was a small, but little object coming close by. As she took a close look at it, she realized that it was a spider. Cherry Blossom immediately shrieked as she saw the insect, but it crawled away without causing any harm. She inhaled and exhaled again, then continued onward. Cherry Blossom was beginning to feel even more afraid as the air vent became darker and darker. She would look down through open air vents to see if it was the armory, but she would have a severe headache every few minutes. Cherry Blossom closed her eyes as her first friend, and nightmare began to speak. She lost control of her thought and she began to sing...

 

"The itsy-bitsy spider

Climbed up the water spout

Down came the rain

And washed the spider out

Out came the sun

And dried up all the rain

And the itsy-bitsy spider

Climbed up the spout again." It was a ghostly version of Cherry Blossom's voice, but then, it was Sour Blossom singing...

 

Cherry Blossom regained her consciousness and began screaming uncontrollably.

The armor stayed in place on the Unicorn's body, but it was disconnected from his energy. That made little difference to him. He could see Wit's aura clearly through the haze of dirt. "I hope you don't think I rely on my eyes to fight. I am no amateur." A small chip fell off of his armor as it was struck by a rock.

"Don't presume I rely on obfuscation as my major tactic," was Wits' reply.

 

He went for a weak point on his aura. Wasn't sure if it was magic or motion or health, but it was there, so he attacked it with a huge amount of force, as much as he could manage.

 

"I tend to be a bit more subtle than that."

Den noticed the change, "So this is Sour Blossom. Okay, let's try not to blow ourselves up, shall we?" He says from behind her. It was a hint hint to keep moving.

 

(No, the bombs can't be defused, but I think we should be able to access the armory)

 

Delphina closed the door and breathed, thinking. She thought for a while, and then undid the lock, letting him in, saying, "Just close it gently, I just cleaned up," and disapeering into the kitchen area."

Cherry Blossom noticed Den right behind her and immediately calmed down. She inhaled and exhaled once more, but she went into another direction which was the recruiting room. "You go ahead and gather some equipment at the armory, I have to go get my badge and papers." she said to him as she opened a vent and dropped down to the recruiting office. She found a few registration papers and started filling them in a nearby pen. Eventually she finished and put them into a scanner which would make her ID card and official papers.

Nightfall almost left when she reopened the doors. He stepped inside and slowly, gently closed the door behind him. He looked around and notice a lot of music sheets, and the cello in the corner. He walked around, slowly, trying really hard not mess anything up. He walked into the kitchen.

"Delphina... If I'm interrupting anything, just... um..."

"You best shut up now."

"Agreed."

The unicorn felt a cold sensation in his legs. He shifted his eyes. "I see, you're attacking my aura. A coward's tactic. Too bad for you, because this is not my aura. Everything you see here is fake, and now I know not to leave my disguise. Thank you for the warning, friend."

She poured them both one and set them down on the table, humming a quick song to move the papers to a shelf. She beckoned for him to sit, "Tell that demon inside your head to shut up. You always get a pained look when he speaks. I know it's the demon; I have a brother like you."

 

Den nodded and climbed down the other way. He grabbed a new uniform for himself, and another for Cherry, guessing the size. Then he grabbed a duffle and filled it with weapons, calling, "You alright over there?"

"Yeah I'm really okay now that you're here with me, partner!" Cherry Blossom shouted as she grabbed her fresh ID card and papers. She flew back up into the air vent and climbed out into the armory. Cherry Blossom looked around and saw a riot shield that they may be able to use. She tried to haul it into the air vent, but it was too heavy for her and she started panting. "Aw, horsefeathers," said Wits. "Time for Plan B." He pulled out his gun and started fire as many times as he could at the pony, 12 times out of his pistol and charging his shot with as much magic power as he could manage.

 

"Please Celestia pleae Celestia please Celestia," he began to murmur as he shot.

Nightfall stood there for a moment, then walked over to the table and sat down. He looked at the wine (Nightfall didn't normally drink alcohol; he didn't like its taste.). He then looked up at Delphina.

"Ok, fine, you win. Delphina, I feel like I'm ruining something of yours. If you wanted it to be Sapphire and I while you went off looking for some other pony, go ahead and kick me out."

"Let me handle the riot sheild," he said, taking it from her. He handed her a 10 mm pistol, saying, "For emergencies only. This is 10 mm, so it'll take more then one unless you hit something vital." He tossed the bag into the air vent and strapped the shield onto his back, crawling forward and pushing the bag out.

She took the firearm and stared at for a few minutes. "Am I really going to shoot this to hurt somepony? If you want, I can do it for you!" Cherry Blossom developed another headache, but recovered from it after a few seconds. She noticed the uniform that he was holding, so she asked, "Umm, do you mind if I try that on?"

Delphina sighed, "Nightfall, I don't know what I want anymore. The best way to describe what I feel right now would be to play it, because I have no idea how to sing it, and no idea how to verbalize it. It's... Complicated," she says. She sipped her wine and sighed again.

"You know, to be honest, until you and Sapphire came along, I was beginning to think the same way..."

Nightfall looked at the center of the table and stared into space. He absent minded,y took a sip of the wine, but the taste of alcohol brought him back. He maybe gagged a bit, then swallowed.

"Sorry," he blushed. "I don't normally drink alcohol..."

"Bullets now? You must be desperate. My armor of clay is bullet proof!" He allowed one shot to hit him. Though the bullet was stopped, he felt a searing pain in his shoulder. Damn, he thought, he isn't a fool after all. And with my armor of clay disconnected from my energy, it will be all but useless! He quickly recycled the same technique Wits had used on Rugby's football and disenchanted the bullets. Allowing the clay wall to stop them.

Den nodded, "Sure. They're supposed to be for you anyway." He passed it back to her and waited patiently. His thoughts were on the commotion in the streets earlier, and how he had to get there quickly. He started whistling to take his mind off his duties, shivering from the air in the vent.

 

Delphina sighed, then laughed as he gagged, "It's an acquired taste. That is to say, the more you drink, the better it tastes." She gets up from the table and tunes up her cello. She took great care, even wiping rosin off her strings. She sat there looking at it.

Cherry Blossom quickly put on the uniform and put the hoofgun into the holster. She grabbed a few hoofcuffs and put them into her new police equipment belt. Thinking about what might happen to them, she threw a helmet with tactical goggles attached and got one for herself. "Things may get very, bad..." she implied as she threw over a bullet proof vest, but she put on a full special weapons and tactics outift on, just in case.

He smiled, thinking she now that he was a fool. He thought he was a fool. Or the demon was making him think so. And the demon began twisting his mind again. The demons he killed.. Den.. Wits and Jack.. Sapphire.. His parents.. He closed his eyes, trying to hide the tears welling up.

"Sorry... Is there some couch I may sit on..?"

"You catch on quick," Wits said. "Let's try something a little more... direct..." And with that, Wits launched himself at the foe, generating a shield and propelling himself forward. It would be much harder to remove the magic form the bullet if HE was the bullet. "FOR LUNAAAAA!" He yelled sing-songily as he charged.
