Jack charged a second strike, this time it was a larger amount of energy. "I hate that we have to rush through this." he commented, "It would be better if we had just a few more years to train. That being said, It's time to rush. get ready again, you have ten seconds."

 

"Rush? What do you mean by that?"

Nightfall kept charging the shield in his hoof.

"So you mean you're going to rush at me, or am I going to rush at you?"

He was confused, but kept the energy going to his hoof. He started trying to build a sword out of the energy, but then thought maybe that wasn't the right idea.

Jack sighed as he was misinterpreted. "We aren't sparring, dimwit. I meant that I wanted to take the training slower, but we don't have enough time. Now prepare your shield again, we're going to keep doing this until you don't move an inch!" He finished charging and waited.

"Okay, you see that's where you're wrong. I did not move an inch the last time you tried this."

He huffed then continue charging the shield.

"Alright, I'm ready. Take your shot."

Secretly, he hoped he would not take the shot. He was getting a bit… Nervous. Also, he was wasting time, he thought.

"I-I killed them all Den... I left all those newborn foals without parents... I'm just a terrible pony and I deserve and execution for my crimes, but that would be selfish of me, for leaving you here all alone..." Cherry Blossom wiped off her tears, but she was extremely upset for the mass murder she committed.

Den didn't really know what to say, so he just held her tightly. "I wish I could protect you from all of the hardships of the world," he finally murmured,"But either I'm a very bad coltfriend, or my abilities are inadequate. I'm sorry Cherry Blossom." He hunged her closer so she wouldn't see his tears, but if she was very careful, she'd be able to feel them.

"Look," Wits said. "You're kind of creepy. All you ever do is talk in stupid, transparent metaphors and try and touch people. This is kind of highly illegal. I obviously can't harm you until the game starts, but I'm guessing the same applies to you. So you go home and I"ll get back work and we'll face off later, okay?

"You're sad, but I should be the one who is sorry Den. You're not a mass murderer like me. I'm so sorry..." Cherry Blossom flet much better when Den held her close. Her loneliness was just drifting away into the dark memories of her past. "Whatever happens, you still love me?"

"Always and forever," he said, holding her tightly, with his wings still around her. "And if you sift through my memories, you'll find that I have killed ponies, and I don't ever want to it again." His eyes glowed brighter as she excepted his hug; her love raised his spirit.

Cherry Blossom relaxed her head on Den's chest and burst out crying. "But h-how can I make up for all those innocent ponies I've killed? I'ts not like I can bring them back to life." she was still upset about the massacre she had left at the hospital, but she was determined about something, she didn't know what it was.

He broke a little so he could search her eyes, and decided she could handle the truth. "You can't, but you can help make the world a better place, to honor their memory. If you can stop yourself from killing ponies, that's a start. And let's not forget, you're my partner. We have eachother's backs."

"I don't want to be a monster anymore Den... I just want to go back to the way I was..." Cherry Blossom smiled at Den and gave him a little nuzzle. There was one stallion that swept her out of her loneliness, and it was Den. She didn't want to die anymore, she owed it to all of the ponies she's killed.

He nods and brushes her cheek with his hoof lovingly, saying, "I know." He wraps his arms around her head and pulls her into another kiss, opening up their link so she could feel what he felt. It was a very strong connection of love, with his other emotions, like worry and compassion, mixed in.

"No you're thinking of lust. He's the touchy feely one of us. find the seven other players and tell them the rules." said Karasu, "You know them well. They were all involved with the closing of the portal. And all but one of them was involved in your fight against Rando. Two great stories I might add."

Cherry Blossom was happy and she closed her eyes during the kiss, but she immediately broke away and started coughing out the inky fluid again. "I feel so sick right now..." she continued coughing, but she didn't seem to look like in good condition. Cherry Blossom was becoming very ill at the moment.

Nightfall channeled more energy into the shield, as it grew and got thicker slowly. He felt like he had a chance to attack Jack now. He was getting impatient.

"We'll, stop hurting yourself, dimwit! Channel it out and do your job!" He tried his best to mock Jack's voice.

Den set her on the make-shift bench in the corner. He forgot to shut the link, so she might have felt his spike of fear that he always got when sompony he cared about got ill. He rubbed her back and began to think, also blocking the link. He remembered the last time she'd thrown up the inky substance; right before she went feral last time. He narrowed his eyes, but he wasn't going to leave Cherry in this condition.

Cherry Blossom began violently spitting out the substance. She began to feel very sore in every part of her body. "Den, I feel so terrible right now. I feel like my whole body is rotting for no reason." she put a hoof to her own heart and felt a heart burn shock through her.

Den nearly cried; all he could do was rub her back and clean up the spot she was throwing up on. This was an illness he didn't know how to treat. However, he added what she said to his notes on her illness. He felt that if he wrote it down, he could give it to Wits; maybe he could help her. "I'm sorry," he murmurs, "I'm such a bad partner I can't even protect you from one of the only things I've ever studied; illness."

"I-It's okay, you probably don't know about my conditio-" Cherry Blossom continued to violently cough, but she was throwing up more of the liquid each time she coughed. She was feeling very lightheaded and her body started to her even more from the sores.

He rubbed her back more, trying to stop himself from crying, "What do you know about your condition?" he asked, more to keep her awake and away from death than to get information. He wipped some of the liquid off of her mouth and shook it off his hoof; it was slightly sticky, warm, and ink-black. He wrote it down.

"Well my whlole body feels really sore and the black liquid tastes a lot like blood. My skin seems to be able to shield against even the most grim damages. It also seems to regenerate any wound I get." She started to groan in pain as she started rolling around.

He frowned, "Like blood? That's strange, blood's supposed to be red..." He smelled his hoof; it even smelled a bit like blood. "It could be that you're body's make-up is compansating for the harder life-style, and it's gone to an extreme..." It SOUNDED a little extreme to him, but so did super-heroes until he met Maven.

Cherry Blossom blacked out again, but she was feeling extremely lighthead. On the inside, her heart was being surrounded by the substance, it was slowly infecting every organ in her body. Only time would decide her fate in her current condition or her old self.

"Wits, this is Den," the sorrowful pony says into his radio, "Cherry Blossom just passed out. It would be very nice if you swung by, over," he says. He checks her for a pulse, and gets a faint one. Worriedly, he presses an ear to his chest; it was louder than it should be.

"That would be me, Nightfall, Den, Cherry, that Jack fellow, Sapphire, and one other. Care to enlighten me. As for the other piece, the King has indeed taken some time to be more defensive, which fulfills that quite nicely, if you accept me or Jack as a Rook and Nightfall as the king."
