This is the official thread for my novel called Helldandy. All current chapters are posted here and it is updated periodically.

Intro:

The raindrops splattered on my window as I felt the pane. The world never did appreciate me… You know bad luck and all. I was that much either. I’m not particularly athletic, intelligent, popular, or sexy. Over the past few months I have been contemplating suicide.

Three years ago my mother died, followed by my father committing suicide a few weeks after. So, I moved over to the US where my Aunt and Uncle lived. Believe me, being a British girl from North Yorkshire living in New York City isn’t easy. I am bullied a lot in High School because I “talk funny” or because I’m obsessed with electricity.

Soon, depression began settling in. My uncle started having heart problems and my aunt’s blood pressure rose extremely every time he made a noise. A violent divorce broke out between them, leaving my uncle dead of a heart attack three weeks ago. My aunt hasn’t stopped crying since.

Tonight I had plans, but of course the world stopped me. I felt like a burden. My aunt can’t afford to feed me or clothe me and the teachers all hate me. I have no friends and no life. Tonight… I was going to hang myself.

After thinking about my life for half an hour, I decided to just brave it through the storm and go outside. I grabbed the rope on my dresser and unlocked my window. I climbed out slowly, knowing that this was the last time I would be indoors.

I put my hood up and looked up and down the street for a good tall tree. I found one about thirty feet down the street and went to my backyard to grab a stepping stool.

But, when I came back around front, a strong pulsating sensation flew through my body from head to toe. Then, I felt my hairs stand up. A strong shriek of horror escaped my mouth. My life flashed before my eyes… and I saw something more. I didn’t want to go now! But, it was too late. My eyes rolled over and my body hit the ground limp…

Chapter One:

A beeping noise penetrated my brain. The noise repeated several times and I got enough strength to open my eyes. “Tonitrui! Thank God you’re awake!” I heard my aunts’ voice call out to me.

I tried to respond, but all I could get out was an awful moan. “Don’t push yourself, honey. You don’t have to respond”. My aunt was now standing over me stroking my face as if I was her child.

A door opened on the far left of the room and a tall nurse with blonde hair walked in. “Wonderful, you’re awake!” The nurse said, abnormally happy. “You’ve been out for three weeks and your vital signs were really dropping. It’s good you’re back to the world of the living” The nurse said, grabbing a blood pressure cuff.

The nurse then put the cuff on my arm and began squeezing the ball on the other end. About the third time she squeezed the ball, an electrical pulse went through my fingers, into the metal bed railing, and then into the nurses hip. “Oww!” The nurse jumped, startled by the shock.

The nurse bent over to pick up the ball she dropped when she was shocked, and then tried taking my blood pressure again. The exact same thing happened. I clanked over at my aunt and saw that she was sweaty... Not wanting her last family member to die.

The nurse sighed. “I’ll just get the doctor.” The nurse then stormed out the door. My aunt smiled down at me and playfully said “You know, your new hairstyle suits you!” She then held up a mirror for me.

My hair was singed! Well, what was left anyway. My aunt told the doctors not to shave my head because “It would be neat to have in our scrap-book” Sometime I question my aunts’ sanity.

Anyways, my hair did seem to have a small hue to it… I couldn’t tell. I began trying to lift up my middle finger towards my aunt, but the doctor interrupted. “Miss Tonitrue? Am I saying that correctly?” I moaned. My aunt thankfully corrected him. “Right, Miss Tonitrui, so far all of our tests have come back fine. But, your heart and brain have more electricity in their neurons than normal” The doctor sounded very serious.

My aunt cringed. “Is something going to happen to her?” she said, her voice shaky. The doctor sighed, “We don’t think so… But we can’t say much. It appears that somehow the excess electricity in her neurons is being transferred into her finger tips…”

My aunt grabbed her chest… I guess stress gets the best of us.
