on a MLD point, i like to the story but only when i give it a re-read and go into depth with it and i was one of the first Brony related things i got into a big discussion about back around October.

on a anti-brony point, it was a slow process from personal experiences also i have no problems with Bronies its more what it begining to stand for from the people who see it as a revolution and then try to measure there bronieness to other bronies to try to make them appear as the better brony, also the idea of 'true-bronie' pisses me off big time and that f :( king brony song represents everything that's wrong with and i'm gonna stop there because this is suppose to be a topic about MLP not why im not a bronie and now im to lazy to delete what iv'e already typed.

For some reason, someone going to full on discussion for something like MLD seems to make some sense in it XD. And on the other point, to be honest, I haven't seen that "Who's a better brony" problem, but then again, I might not be that deep in the internet yet XD. And as for the song, I just laugh my flank, pure and simple. Especially at the guy complaining about the pony shirts not being in his size XD. But eh, let's just leave it at that shall we? No need to let steam off when there's no need (that's what being alone in home is for XD).

where is the review?

well whatever it was a bit melodramatic and dragged on way too long and it repeated itself pointlessly quite alot. If it was abridged it would end up with so much more impact.

I'm guessing most of you actually never read the text but listened to mic.

without mic speaking you will see these weaknesses in writing. mic's reading distracts you from it.

To be honest, the depth of the story HIGHLY varies according to who you ask. Not everyone is able to inmerse themselves deep in a story very difficult. I think I heard Mic's reading, it was long after I had read the story. And I didn't give into much more thought. I just inmersed myself, and that's it. The fact that some have a better capacity for that than others CAN change one's opinion, unbiased or not.

Its a good story in my opinion. I didn't cry but thats just me. I still felt quite sad and was pretty close i'd say. Still i didn't.

It was still good though very heart touching. It was quite sad and happy very bittersweet. Nicely written especially because its a fan based thing. It makes me kinda jealous tho.

To me, i think it's one of the better fanfics out there. I liked it, and i thought it was sad. Also, most of the other fanfics in our fandom suck buttocks. An example of a terrible (insert swear here)y athuor is orange. What he writes is bucked up. Take "1-4th gear scootabuse" this involve scootaloo be abused. It absolutley TEARS apart the cheracter of rainbow dash. As THE ELEMENT OF LOYALTY BEATS UP HER BIGGEST FAN. Anyways, mld is great.

To be honest, while it was touching, I don't completely understand its popularity or its status as a memetic tearjerker. In my opinion there are many stories that are written better and many that tug at the heartstrings more. I liked it just fine though.

There's tons of stories that felt sadder than MLD ever did. Hell, 90% of MLD was incredibly difficult to take seriously, it lost me when some emo guy finds a cartoon horse in a box out of nowhere

I have only read a few fanfics, but from what I've seen so far, MLD was average.  Actually, I didn't read it but I listened to it as a reading on Youtube.  With tearjerking music, yes, it did tug at my heartstrings a bit.  But anyway, the thing I liked about it the least was that a lot of emotion was laid on thick and heavy.  Usually sad emotion.  The author never gives his reader a chance to come up for air.  Apologies for not knowing his name, but I've read that he has since written stories that are superior from a critical viewpoint.  But to date, none of them caught on the way MLD did.  I think the reason MLD strikes such a strong chord with the fandom is it offers a lot of fans an opportunity for self insertion.  Many bronies complain about lacking a sense of love and purpose in real life and this enables them to identify with the story's protagonist.

Also, a story doesn't have be a critically acclaimed masterpiece to be popular.   Look at all the movies that suck in terms of pacing, themes, character development and so on and yet gross millions of dollars.  People like what they like and MLD has earned its place in Brony culture.

I'm the guy who made the infamous epic-length blog post about all the reasons why MLD sucks.

TL;DR, it was heavy handed, poorly written, ill-conceived, and uninspired. Our fandom is capable of so much better than a pile of horseapples like that, and I'm not just talking the big name fanfics like FO:E. I'm about half-way into "Of Skies Long Forgotten" by The24thPegasus, and it's good enough to be a legit novel.

That's a fanfic that makes us look good, MLD is just emotional junk food.

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.
