gaming Can you get banned on Xbox Live for modding an offline game?

I've modded GTA 4 and accidentally got an achievement (the half million dollars achievement). I've heard that if you earn an achievement from modding you will be banned. Is this true?

Probably not, I mean they can, but if it's just a one time accident nothing will probably come of it. Bans come more form using mods in multiplayer games to cheat.

To be quite honest, I've gotten a few achievements because of mods from various games. I haven't gotten banned from anything but Black Ops (in which, I purposely went and modded online for teh lulz).

 

EDIT: I skimmed and thought we were only talking about the game's online mode.

 

There's no way you would ever get banned from XBL over such a thing. I'm sure things would be looked over unless you got 3000G per second.

It depends how you do it. More than likely no, not from how you did it. Ive done a couple as well.

 

Now if you mod your gamerscore directly and Blatantly you can be.

 

online can get you only banned from the game and its sister games should the company feel like it. But not from xbox Live. They might just reset gamerscore, not sure if they actually do that or not though.

Probably not, especially considering it was a one-time accident. My cousin and a friend of his for awhile purposefully modded to get achievements, and they almost got banned from Xbox Live because of it, but I can't imagine they'd make a fuss over a one-time incident, especially if you're not doing any modding for multiplayer gaming; that's the type of modding they especially crack down on.
