Hello, ponies of ponykind! I am here with a question... if I were to suggest to Twilight Sparkle (AKA Feld0) and knighty (mod of FIM Fiction) to link the sites, would I get a positive response? Please post your FIM Fiction username if you are a dual member.

I would love to have the sites linked. It seems like an easy way to share fictions that members recently read and enjoyed. However we already do have a fanfic recommendation thread where we can just post links to stuff like that. :3

 

Also on fimfiction my username is MJP2010. I'm currently writing a fanfic but I'm suffering some lack of motivation to keep writing.

I do understand that FimFiction is an extremely popular site for many of MLPF's users, but it's far from being "mainstream" in the same league as Steam, deviantART, or YouTube, which I do provide profile fields for. So... because of the site's relatively niche status, I feel that adding a dedicated profile field for them here would imply that some sort of affiliation exists between me and Knighty, or that I endorse them as -the- pony fan fiction site, which is not the case.

 

As far as webmastering is concerned, I'd be giving FimFiction free advertising for nothing in return.

I'm Clarity on there as well. Trying to write a fanfic myself, but never getting the inspiration. Only one person @@Lightning Fluttershy, would help me with it, and he's also having trouble with his fic.

 

Link between the sites would be nice, because I love reading fanfics. Though lately I've been inactive there because of the disappointing lack of AJ fanfics. All there are in the feature box are stupid, overused ideas like alicorn Twilight, Scootaloo orphan, or TwiDash shippings. -_-

Back on topic, how about a more dynamic box that was more like, Other contact info or something? Where we could put an email, fimfic account, or really anything. I think that would work really well.

If Knighty is willing to establish a formal partnership between MLP Forums and FimFiction, it is something I would be more than happy to endorse and integrate on my end. Both communities are relatively large and well-established within the pony fandom, and I can see both MLP Forums and FimFiction gaining quite a bit from working together. We'd have a fan fiction hosting site, and FimFiction would have a forum community.

 

MLP Forums will soon be linked up with Pony.fm, which is essentially the FimFiction of pony fan music, so having a connection would certainly be strategic for all three sites.

 

So, I'm down. Have you talked to Knighty yet, ?

I love the idea. I am currently waiting on a response from knighty... this was mainly a speculation and a poll. I have enough info now, and I know what you want, Oh Great Twilight Sparkle (Feld0) so I can begin "negotiations" (ha ha ). Keep giving me feedback, guys! I agree with Feld0's earlier response, for the record. I have a FIMfiction membership under the same name and they're an attractive site with a good format, but I don't want to hold them up as the one and only site for our pony stories. Many of the best ones do find their way there, but...I have to say their screening feature rubs me the wrong way, and their search feature is a constipated mess. ^^

Hah, Knighty's favorite pony is Twilight as well. Feld0 and them should get along just fine.

 

The more I think about this, the more great of an idea it sounds. A massively known fiction archive for ponies, and a massively used discussion board for ponies affiliating together would do nothing but assist both in terms of not just traffic but also opportunity. Though they have 'forums' for the Groups feature, they're nothing at all compared to what we have to offer here. I'm curious to see what Knighty's thoughts are on the situational idea.
