gaming Would the Assassins Creed series be better without Desmond?

i personally think the Assassins Creed franchise would be better without desmond, adding him i think limits what they can do with the story, it seems like desmond is used as a linking passage and to be the every day man for us to relate to, but all he does (especially in AC3) is whine and complain about things, i think the apple and that stuff would be a better linking item between the games, what do you all think?

I also think that at times he is pretty useless. I would rather be an anciet assassin rather than some complaining guy, but he is very important to the story of Assassin's Creed. Without him, I don't think the story line would of gone as smoothly if he wasn't there.

I think the storyline would obviously drastically change, but that's not really all that bad if you just minus the whole apple thing.

I gave up trying to figure out what the hell was going on at the end of Brotherhood.

I was actually replaying Brotherhood like a week ago and I thought about this myself. Whenever I am playing as Desmond or am watching cut-scenes featuring him I feel like I just want to move on and play as the real assassins. I guess he is important to the story and so he's a necessary burden to live with, but this doesn't stop him from being really annoying http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png .

Desmond is the main reason Altair, Ezio, and Conner are connected. Granted that something else might had been done when the first Assassin's Creed game came out. There's so many things I want to say about this but insted these links should help why Desmond is important to the franchise.

Also I've played through AC3 and I was really satisfied walking in the shoes of Desmond, making use of all those skills he had to learn from Ezio, getting more insight to what could be inside the Grand Vault, up until...

he had to die in the end to save humanity rather than survive and let humanity twist what he had written to save them again for a third time. Fucking Juno, dude!

Don't read the second spoiler within the first one if you haven't finished Assassin's Creed 3!

I've played through AssCreed II and am in the process of playing Brotherhood. As much as I love the gameplay, I really don't like the modern-day storyline with the Animus and whatnot. The whole concept of reliving Desmond's ancestors' lives is just silly and redundant; I would've rather enjoyed a series that told the story of Templars and Assassins fighting throughout the centuries purely from a historical perspective without the sci-fi stuff. It would've been more immersive, coherent and interesting, in my opinion.

Well, the thing is, I really like Desmond. He is there to get a pause from the real gameplay, to see someone elses view of the story. For example, exploring modern day Monterriggioni is really badass!

AC3 is going to be the last game featuring him, so it'll be fun to see what they'll come up with next.

Honestly I found it kinda painful when I am enjoying slaughtering thousands of guards enjoying the epic story line of Altiar, Ezio, Conner when suddenly I get pulled out of the Animus, just to listen to Desmond bitch and moan.

So, yeah in my opinion it would be better without him.
