(SPOILER) Questions regarding Princess Cadence

I don't know if I should put spoiler by this point, but only one and a half day has passed. I shall assume, not everyone has been able to see the chapters yet, Anyway, back to the topic in case.

 

So, we already got our pretty share of Cadence might-be-backstory and development. Her name as Princess, and her cutie mark. AKA, there's a good chance she is related to a sort of royalty in the Crystal Empire, and also, that her cutie mark not only represents love, her special talent, BUT the power to "revive" the Crystal Empire with it, and also, the Crystal Heart. And this is something that has lots of strength after the episodes (Cereal Velocity from EQD made a post that had some of these thing slingering around, you should check it out too, in my opinion: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/11/the-crystal-empire-parts-1-and-2.html). So question one is:

 

"How related do you think Cadence is related to the Crystal Empire?"

 

The other question is rather different. None of us would have probably EVER thought Cadence would re-appear in the show again, considering some of us weren't even sure if there was going to be a Season 3, and let alone with such involvement, back when Season 2 ended. However, it got me thinking. My wonder is if the writers were able to set up something for Season 3 when Cadence was created, or it was by chance that her cutie mark ended up being a crystal heart. So, my question is:

 

"If you had heard about the Crystal Empire right after Cadence appeared...would you have thought she would have any relationship or involvement at all with the Crystal Empire?

 

Sorry if some of these things were already discussed in the thread about the episode, but I don't know if they were.

To be honest, I saw this coming loooong in advance. As soon as I saw the words "crystal ponies" in the episode synopsis, my thoughts went to Cadance's crystal heart cutie mark. Even further, her mane design matches the crystal ponies - coincidence?

 

She rescued the crystal heart (shaped like her cutie mark), she protected the kingdom with her husband, and wouldn't you know it: the kingdom seems to be leaderless at the moment. I think I know a certain couple that could easily fit right in...I was actually very happy to see everything turn out the way it did. I hope that Shining Armor and Cadance become the new rulers of the Crystal Kingdom, because that would be an epic turn of events.

Anyway, yep, I agree with all you said. Although to be perfectly honest, I didn't even thought there would be a connection. But I DID think that Cadence's cutie mark was slightly different and peculiar.

It's not just you - the forum's host server(s) have been experiencing intermittent problems. Sometimes it loads as usual, and sometimes it takes a few minutes to load the home page. It all depends.

 

Anyways, I'm now desperate to see what the MLP team comes up with in the future. I'd love to see an episode about Cadance and Shining Armor being granted full ruling privileges and assisting in rebuilding one of the coolest looking kingdoms ever!

I've read all the previous posts and it all makes sense. In fact, I'm a bit mad at myself for not being more observant. In addition to everything else, one of the villagers even said, referring to Cadance, "The Crystal Princess has returned!" or something along those lines. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20.

 

While it looks as funny as hell watching Shining throw Cadance at the falling crystal, if you watch her behavior just before the throw, she WANTS to be thrown at it. One of the things that stick out in my mind about Cadance from the Canterlot wedding is that, for an alicorn, she could barely fly. It was more like she spread her wings and glided herself and Twilight to safety. But on this occasion, once she has the crystal in her grasp, she can fly like a rocket. Pretty amazing considering she was exhausted and on the verge of passing out again just a few minutes ago. Did anybody else notice that Cadance's crystal cutie mark briefly glows when she's putting the original crystal back in place?

Err did she look older with the wrinkels only because of the curse? In Canterlot wedding, she seemed younger. I dont remember if she got back to normal in the end

That was because of a lack of sleep since she had to keep the barrier up at all times. Back on topic, as soon as they announced the whole cyrstal pony thing I put two and two together. What is throwing me off is that the Crystal Empire has been gone for 1,000 years and yet Cadence was in Canterlot when Twilghit was a filly. I hope we get some sort of explanation near the end.

I hadn'ta thought much of the connection before watching episode 1&2, but I started hoping for one the minute I saw her sitting on a crystal replica of Celestia's throne. Maybe she discovered her cutie mark when she used the crystal heart to defeat King Somba, but as she was leaving the kingdom to finish things up at home, the kingdom disappeared. That's why she was the first pony to be sent back when the Crystal Empire returned. It's also why she wanted to be thrown at the crystal heart. And now she will finally claim the throne.

Personally, I think Celestia always knew that Cadence was destined to be the leader of the Crystal empire and that Twilight was destined to help her, even before Twilight earned her CM. Celestia probably had been educating Cadence to be an effective leader ever since fillyhood so she wouldn't become a selfish snob like Blueblood or the other Canterlot elite. She made sure that Cadence learned humility and friendship by living and working like a normal citizen. By allowing her to foal sit Twilight, Cadence would learn compassion and responsibility while also building a strong bond with the pony that would aid her in reviving her kingdom.

It would seem that the writers already had the Crystal Empire in mind when writing about the "Royal Wedding," as Cadance had the crystal heart as her cutie mark.

What is throwing me off is that the Crystal Empire has been gone for 1,000 years and yet Cadence was in Canterlot when Twilghit was a filly.

I'm thinking that Cadence MIGHT be a descendant, and that she may look like the princess who was in the Crystal Empire before King Sombra took control, but I'm not sure.
