*Warning eyes may bleed* My first(proably last) Drawing of my oc/y I don't draw.

Ok so I've said a few things once or twice about how bad of an artist I am, and I actually one day decided to draw a pony.. (why? Idk I was bored). So using my terrible art skills I opened up gimp and got to work. I kinda looked at my OC I made in pony creator a bit, and tried to get the body structure in my head. It took me something like 3-4 hours, I don't remember exactly how long.

I wasn't really planning on posting it, but if anybodys really curious, feel free to gaze upon it*Warning it may cause bleeding of the eyes*

 

 

And thats why i'm not an artist. I don't really plan to be one, but I'm just making a point I guess . Idk exactly why, but I felt I had to post it no matter how bad it is.

I drew this with a mouse and using the program GIMP. Feel free to offer critique if you really want to, I certainly won't be hurt if you say its bad because I already know that . However I don't know if I'll ever be posting anymore pony art regardless, or even making any. Maybe I'll do it when I'm bored for the heck of it, but I doubt i'll be posting anymore of it anytime soon.

 

Who truly knows I guess, one things for sure though I don't think I'm going to be a professional artist anytime soon. Regardless I hope you had some enjoyment from looking at my mediocre art .

I'm an attention whore for having a little fun drawing myself a pony and then posting it on the MLP forums to show people who I'm not an artist? And to make them feel more accomplished for something that not everyone can do?

I kind of like it. The abstract art style is fascinating and can evoke many different feelings. One could simply look at this and say the artist swiftly put this together with no time placed into detail or shading, but I beg to differ. This feeling was OBVIOUSLY the intent of this art, making it worth a million theoretical dollars!...

 

Ok, maybe I was going a bit overboard. Still better than anything I could spit out of gimp from scratch.

 

EDIT: The intent of this was to encourage the OP with some truthful words. I don't create things in gimp, I only tweak my photographs' levels and exposure when absolutely necessary. Considering the only thing I've spit out completely from scratch out of gimp was a circle and 2 rectangles for a pong clone, my statement is factual and I stand behind it.

Draw with reference- so many wonders to doing it, you'll be sure to get better XD you'll better learn the figure of whatever it is your drawing, rather then just getting the proportions in your head and going with it

Now, I've never used Gimp but I'm sure you can do better than that. You can take a look at some tutorials on how to draw ponies for a start, and don't forget that there's always the option to correct your drawing as much as you want. If you're not satisfied with something, you can spend hours fixing it until you consider it presentable (don't overdo it though, if you obsess to much over it without asking for feedback, you'll end up in art limbo FOREVEEEER)

Yeah I think the outline turned out pretty crappy, I wasn't really sure how big I was going to make it. So it ended up being kinda random.

Well true anybody can draw, and it is more difficult with a mouse. However not everybody can draw good. .

Maybe when I'm bored I'll try it on paper or something. Maybe it'll be better, or maybe worse.

And if I had to try and fix this until I considered it presentable... well that could take forever, due to poor skill, and perfectionism. I guess I could lighten up if I had to.

Drawing with a mouse is HARD. I draw with the laptop touchpad, which is even HARDER. I also use GIMP and can't draw ponies for crap. Your first attempt looks better than mine did.

 

Don't give up. :3 Try using a reference next time, or several, okay? NEVER try to draw your first time at something by memory. It never works.

Yeah, like I said maybe I'll do a little bit of it. The thing is I'm not like alot of the people who are actually professionals on the site, because I already have other things I do so I don't know how much time I could devote to this compared to the actual professionals. Although I'm sure I could atleast make them look decent . I highly doubt I'll top the amazing artist in this community anyday soon. There are some astounding artist here.

Referencing simply means looking at a drawing while doing yours. I use references in my drawings all the time! Especially when I'm trying to do a pose or style I've never tried before. They do wonders, but you still have to practice and work hard.

And I am so thankful I don't have to use my touchpad for anything anymore. Touchpads are so glitchy and annoying for everything you use them for. I just disabled mine so it doesn't randomly get set off when my hands accidentally rest on it or something.

I'm atleast now considering doing another drawing. Although considering the other things I have to do right now it would really at most only be a casual thing .

I guess the color scheme is fine . I think if I had to pick something I did the best with it would be the eyes. There still pretty eh, but compared to the rest I think they turned out best.

Actually besides proportions/anatomy you're pretty good. And correctly proportioning parts of objects is one of the last skills most people learn when drawing.
