Coincidence or developing plot device? (theory)

In the season 3 premiere, the mane six go to save the Crystal Empire (duh). BUT a possible plot device was hidden until an overview of the Crystal Empire was shown. The streets surrounding the castle are shaped like Twilight's cutie mark stars. This could show that Twilight has some family history linked to the Crystal Empire. Besides that, how does an average everyday filly get an alicorn foalsitter and not a regular unicorn, pegasus, or earth pony? Twilight, Cadence, and the Crystal empire could have a much deeper connection than on the visible surface.

Well its certainly an interesting theory, I've always thought maybe because of twilights brother was the reasoning behind why twilight had cadence as a foalsitter. Maybe its just a coincidence.

Also i always saw the picture as more of a full start and not the same star as twilights, I suppose you can look at as being the same, but they don't quite match up enough for me.

I think the only real connection to the crystal empire is cadence, I dunno about twilight being royalty as a crystal pony.

 

Although its a possibility as a theory for sure. I'm wondering when exaclty they're going to bring up the crystal empire again and do some more resolving of some things. I'm hoping it doesn't get thrown out and left behind.

Adding to that theory would be the book that Celestia and Luna were holding at the end of the Season 3 premiere. Could it contain some sort of rite procedures for Twilight to become a new princess? Sides, the monarchs did point out that Twilight would eventually take the next step once she passed her test...

I have always just seen the layout of the streets as more of a snowflake. This would make sense as snowflakes are a CRYSTALline structure, as related to the CRYSTAL ponies.

I guess I can kinda see where you're going with this, but I'd find it more interesting that Princess Cadence's cutie mark and the crystal heart are the same design. Combined with the fact she's referred to as 'the Crystal Princess' by one of the locals, makes me wonder where Cadence came from originally.

This is even more true when you look at the snowflake on the flag of the Crystal Empire and how similar the layout is to the layout of the streets.

What's been pointed out to me is the cover of said book has Stars and a swirl, which leans more towards Star Swirl the Bearded in my mind. Considering Twilight's obsession with, and talent in, magic I figure it more likely she'll be headed in the area of revolutionizing magic. Just my thoughts on what I've witnessed so far.

I have a theory. I think the Crystal Empire reappearing now is not an accident, but a result of the fact that Princess Cadance got married. Apart from the timing being exact (it would take time for news to come from the Arctic, another real world name drop, so it's possible that it happened at the same time as she became a ruling (i.e. married) princess, the crystal ponies seemed to recognize her as "The Crystal Princess", her cutie mark contains the Crystal Heart, and when she turned into a Crystal pony herself at the end, her mane rearranged itself into the same style as she wore at her wedding.

 

I think there's a definite connection, but I don't really see the layout of the city as matching Twilight's 'mark. If there were "suburbs" that formed the smaller stars on the map, that would be pretty definite. As it is, I'm inclined to call it an unintended resemblance.

That is a very interesting idea and it could work. Still I don't think Twilight having a babysitter who is an alicorn is anything important. One she could have just wanted to babysit young ponies or Celestia could have told Cadence to watch her, when Twilight became her student.
