Changelings looking into the Mirror Pool

Ok, we know when someone uses the mirror pool it creates an imperfect copy of the person. What happens is a disguised changelings uses it.

 

I think the pool would probably replicate the visual aspects of the person, so the copy changeling would look like the pony the original had taken the form of. Would the copy then have the power to change its shape. similar to how the Pinkie clones inherited Pinkie's strange abilities? Also, if the clone changeling could change appearance, would it's natural form be the changeling form or the image it had when it originally climbed out of the pool.

 

Just some food for thought, sorry if it's been discussed before.

That is certainly and interesting idea, I think a changeling would appear as the pony they are impersonating and then be unable to change. You have to take into account the rhyme that pinkie used.

also the rhyme says "...doubly mared" or something to that effect, sooo how would that affect a stallion?

It doesn't matter, there are like ten stallions in Equestria anyway

 

I bet that they would appear as whatever they had shifted into but still be a changeling and still have pretty much the same personality

Simply because it is called the mirror pool, I think it would create a copy of the pony the changeling is impersonating. There's no reason to believe it would be able to change and even if it could, it wouldn't have a changelings memories and might not even know it could change. But now I'm thinking way too hard about this.

Well we will never know unless the shows creators tell us (I doubt, unless someone asked them at a Q&A panel.) but I would think it would copy the form not the ability as well.

Interesting theory i just figured if a disguised changeling went throught the pool they come out the same being able to undisguise themselves too since they are the same person  technically.

hmmm...this is a rather interesting idea. it all depends on what exactly does the mirror pool copy.

 

However, I do believe that a changeling would be perfectly able to "clone" itself, and still be able to change. Should the pool only transfer the mirror image and that's it, then yes, they'd be forced to stay in that certain position. I however, think that the copies all the body traits aside from image only, thus enabling a changeling that goes as, say, Braeburn, still be able to change, as the original traits and essence belong to the changeling. This means, under the illusion, it's still the changeling with natural body trait of shapeshifting.

Oh wow, very intriguing topic. Hmmmm. I believe the mirror would create a duplicate of whatever the changeling was currently looking like, but it's personality would, obviously, remain that of the changeling and not of the thing they're copying. Even with their own copying they can't replicate personality, only voice and appearance.

 

Oh, I also don't think the duplicates would have the same powers as the original changeling, but that's just my immediate thought.

 

So in the end, all the changelings would gain from the mirror pool is what everyone else does: More numbers to their ranks.

Well, technically speaking, if you say Pinkie's abilities to break physics and stuff as her type of "magic" then technically mirror pool DID copy that kind of forces.  However, I think that aside from the fact that dozens of Pinkies and the moral of the story were better for this kind of plot, the writers probably did it so as to let us generate ideas onto whether or not, for example, a cloned unicorn would retain the magical abilities it is able to use.

Well, this topic is certainly thinking outside of the box; well done, Pirate Prince, well done indeed.  I'm inclined to agree with most of the theories thrown around so far; my main question is, how much more feral would Changeling copies be from the original Changelings?  Changelings are quite primitive and animalistic as it is, and it seems, from what we know about them, that the only direction they really receive is from the hive mind, controlled by Queen Chrysalis.  But would a copy actually be connected to that hive mind?  I'm inclined to think that it wouldn't, and, taken along with the mentally debilitating effects that the Mirror Pool seemed to have on the Pinkie clones, as such would be completely feral and vicious, the Changeling equivalent of a rabid dog.  Now that would be pretty terrifying!

I hadn't thought about this. But could they even get to the pond? I thought Twilight covered up the entrance with a giant bolder.

 

Even if they could get to it, I think it would make a duplicate of whatever pony they were disguised as, which would cause massive havoc on all of Ponyville and Equestria. But I could be completely wrong. This idea is really interesting to think about. It would make a great season finale.

I think since it copies what your like at the moment, the changeling would look like pony, but act like a changeling.  Or something to that effect.

Other than physical appearances, the pool's clones also copy the exact mindset of the copied individual at the moment. At the time when Pinkie cloned herself, she was all about "FUN FUN FUN", her clones turned out crazy

 

My bet is the Changeling's clones would look like the pony currently copied by the changeling, and the clones would be all "infiltration mode"
