Kyubey 60 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 There was still a lot more discrimination, and technology has had a massive boost since then, even if it was a time of improvement. I honestly find it annoying when people say "Oh, I wish I lived during the '40s!". Life was pretty hard if you weren't a straight rich white man back then, so most people will have a real tough time. But living in the '80s? It was a great deal better than then, but no. I think I'll stick to my own era, thanks.
Dusty Soul 2,611 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 Yes, the 80's were pretty cool. Though it all depends if I was living in LA. Big bands playing every weekend. As for life, probably. 1 Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube

This time is already not progressive enough for me, in fact no where near where it needs to be. My coworkers were talking about something like this, except the 1960s, and I said "No, not progressive enough for me." They gave me an odd look, and I was thinking "Um... Being progressive in the 1960s meant seeing blacks as equal to you." If they think that's too progressive, well... Wow. But I do live in the South. (BTW, I hope the word I used for them (blacks) wasn't offensive, I never know which word to use anymore...) Everything needs more woodwind! A Blithering Div 247 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 Not in the slightest. Sure, the Commodore 64 was the bees knees, but there wasn't really an internet. Just Compuserve and various BBS's. Modems were measured in Bauds per Second. Cars got worse mileage with the same amount of power. The Berlin Wall existed. The Cold War was still raging. Vinyl was being phased out with inferior tapes and CDs. There was more Racial and Sexual Orientation stigma than today, not to mention the whole AIDS thing. Pop music consisted of Motley Crue, Def Leopard, Devo, Lover Boy and New Kids on the Block. Cell phones came in the form of either expensive bricks or CB radio. Batteries were even worse than they are now. LEDs were still kind of new and blue ones didn't exist yet. The US government was busy trying to deal with drug cartels in southern and central America over Cocaine, much more than today. Given just what I know, today is far better than yesterday and the future is looking even better. I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?
Homura Akemi 974 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 No clue. I wasn't born yet. Nostalgia makes us think everything was better back then. The 80's had problems of its own. Sometimes, we just look at the good when time has passed. I prefer to look at a brighter future.
khaine21x3 789 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 Better food - you guys should seriously try free ranged animals/eggs that ate natural diet instead of GMO crap.Even organic doesn't produce the quality that oldschool style does. Better music Cassette tape players were pretty all right I guess, people still use em where I come from. It sucks that we didn't have calculator, comptuer, gaming consoles or the internet back then.Dial ups sucks so bad esp for playing the very few games that had tcp/ip. Books were useful instead of being tabloid crap about Obama or beiber's life.
XrosOver 613 December 16, 2012 Share December 16, 2012 Life was not exactly better thirty years ago but if you were asking sixty years ago I would agree wholeheartedly. The 1980's was a chaotic time in the areas of social life. I have no experience living in that time but I feel that our current time is better than the 1980's. The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?
