MLP Forums should go dark this Friday for 1 minute

That should read "MLP Forums should go dark THIS Friday for 1 minute. There is a world wide moment of silence the internet  is doing on Friday at 9:30am Eastern time. I think we should be apart of this. Some of those kids could have been MLP fans but more then that, we as a community should show our respect and join the over 100,000 websites shutting down for one minute. Heres the article. What say you?

I obviously agree. I think small gestures like this is what makes our community that much more special. This was something that really shook a lot of people, a lot of Bronies. I hope we can take just a minute of our day and give it to remember those kids.

"High-profile Silicon Valley venture capitalist Ron Conway is working hard to promote the online moment of silence, which is part of a larger campaign for federal gun control legislation"

I'm not against it or anything but it seems to be a part of a large sinister agenda.

I guess I'll play devil's advocate...

I don't like the reasoning behind doing this. I can comprehend that victims of Sandy should get our blessings or respects or whatever, but to go dark in order to pay respects is an irrelevant way to deal with a situation like this. Something that can produce some money into restoring the carnage should be the main focus because what happened was that a natural disaster destroyed a part of the US (forgive me for over-exaggerating if I did).

At least with the SOPA and the PIPA act, websites went dark because the main focus involved the internet being even MORE constrained by government, which is relevant to the situation. THIS situation isn't relevant to a website blackout - if you wanted to do something for Sandy victims, do something involving actually helping out Sandy victims.

To simplify it, donating money to impoverished nations (despite the chance of an organation getting hold of said money to use for something else) is more effective than going on a blackout to pay respects.

I'd be okay with it. I think as long as it doesn't actively support gun control (maybe a little disclaimer saying it's for the kids/teachers and not political?) and actually is for a moment of silence for the victims I am okay with it.

I agree that MLP Forums should go dark for a minute to rember the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.  Also there should be a text when it is going dark ,why the forums is dark.

I say we should, because everypony here knows about this tragedy that has touched all of us.. on how cruel this world can be to hurt such innocent children.. that were killed because of what we don't know.

We should pay our respects to them because they were the beauty of this planet.. kid's show life and happiness.. but all that Killer did was take it all away and hurt us all in our hearts, cause when you look at your younger siblings(if you have any) on how this could happen to them too, and we don't want that to happen right? As a community we should pay our respects by doing the 1 minute of silence.. hell i'd rather do a 5 minutes of silence because i care enough, what about everypony else here? Brohoof this post if you think we should do the 1 minute of silence or may as well do a 5 minutes silence.

Thanks everypony.

In all honesty, I definitely would not mind this site going dark for one minute. It is one minute to show our respects for lives lost during the recent events and I would be fine with it
