visual art My "New" Truck

Recommended Posts

She may not be a 2013 Chevy but she looks like she rolled out of a 1982 Chevrolet Dealer's showroom.

I found this truck on the internet a few days ago and I showed my dad, of course her took to it as well considering he has owned his share of trucks in the past, & who doesn't have a soft spot for a good ol' truck? So after a few hours at the dealership we ended up gettin' her.

This truck was basically "restored" to the point where it looks stock. She's packin' a new 350cu in 5.7 Liter V8 with around 350 horsepower under the hood & a four-barrel edelbrock carburetor. True dual exhaust out the back with chrome tips, she sounds mean.

For the time period, this truck was top of the line with it's power windows & locks along with heating & air conditioning. It also features cruise control, adjustable bench seat & steering column. And that's all stock options back in the day. This truck interestingly enough came from Texas, and the original sticker price was in the glove compartment with all the options listed; it came out to be $8,600 back in 1982.

I'm a sucker for a nice vehicle as well, i'm definitely lucky that I found one in such great condition for the amount that they were asking.

The truck was originally from Texas, apparently the guy who did the restoration on it purchased it and brought it back to Illinois (where I live) and after the restoration, sold it to the dealership I purchased it from. Older cars don't seem to last up here in the midwest with all the snow & salt on the roads.

They say the best trucks come from Texas, I now believe them after I saw this puppy!

I drive a truck so yeah, I agree with WingedRatchet that is one sweet truck. Standard cab short bed that thing should go like a rocket even though it's truck. lol

She'll get up and go with that 5.7 Liter 350 V8 under the hood, can't beat the sound either!

I also have a 06' Pontiac GTO with the 6.0L and I am going to have a tough time choosing what one to drive, even though some would be like "oh that's just a old truck" vs the people that would say "wow that's a fancy sports car"...

But as I always say, you can't beat a truck.

nice truck, but theres a more pressing question at hand now.

did you pop its cherry on a empty stretch of untouched road by ripping a nice fat #11? my lil 2.3 Ranger can rip burnouts like a champ, so a v8 should be a smoke machine lol.

Thank you for the compliment in the truck!

I haven't had a chance to really drive her (other than the test drive of course) because by the time the paperwork was finished, it was dark and it was just me and my father. My father cannot see well enough to drive in the dark so we had to leave the ol' Silverado here at the dealer, I plan to pick her up tomorrow. The odd thing is, the truck has Mickey Thompson street slicks on the back, I need to get another set of tires for the rear on her for the winter.

'Murica. Land o' trucks that we reference as woman instead of as inanimate trucks.

Anyways- nice truck. Sure you could of gotten a Prius, or something more... practical... but trucks are always nice. :)

id take an older truck over a newer truck any day of the week. theyre simplier, they sound better, theyre easier to work out, they look better, etc.

It ain't AMURIKA without trucks or big engines.

Practicality to one is different to another, because I sure wouldn't be buyin' no foreign electric car or whatever. I want some good ol' American power under the hood.

I also have a 2006 Pontiac GTO 6.0 liter, i'm not really into small motors. Like Granddaddy always said: "Go big or go home."

But I thank you for the compliment on the truck, much obliged.
