DoctorWhovian1902 596 December 30, 2012 Author Share December 30, 2012 Besides there are MILLIONS OF BRONIES in the world. Not just a few. MILLIONS. While I believe that completely, my parents are going to require proof from a "reliable source" (news, scientists, etc.) in order to even humor the idea. So if you can find a source, I'd be forever in debt to you. You can also try using things that completely break the whole stereotype, like music, and some of the animations out there, which would probably help a lot. I have tried that, but they tend to just brush it off as nothing after I tell them a brony made it and it was MLP inspired.

I know exactly what you're thinking of. But his parents, like I said before, allow certain things and don't allow certain things, any way you put it. My parents, though they love me, don't allow a ton of the things I really want to do. It's not due to the fact that they hate me; it's just because they don't like the thing that I want to do. Now, the reasons they don't like it are up to them; I'm sure his parents have proposed the facts as to why they don't want him to be a brony; not doing so would be ignorant. But we aren't the ones to tell him to defy his parents' rules. He is living under their roof and is their child in the end.

uuunph 288 December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 A difference they don't seem to see, as it appears to me at least that they require complete submission to their beliefs. It didn't go at all. I just couldn't figure out how to bring the show up to him. Forget the fact that he's basically the determinant in my future as far as my parents are concerned, it's also whether his hatred will be fueled or doused. It ain't easy, and it makes my blood go cold every time I think about it. If it finally comes down to it, "Sonic Rainboom" or "Return of Harmony" are my picks for him (He was already introduced to Dr. Who by a friend of ours. Since the episode was about an hour long, I feel my means are justified.). What do you think? Oh, alright. So you think you're friend is going to influence what your parents think? I'd say Sonic Rainboom is a good episode for introducing him to the show, if you have to. Return of Harmony is also good, and if he's willing to watch 40 minutes of this show, I'd say go for it. Mainly because 20 minutes of watching ponies when it's new to you, doesn't really get you "used to it", you know? I'd be kind of reluctant to show anyone the show at all, since it took me like, 11 episodes to realize I liked it. So yeah, I guess Return of Harmony, more time is better.

MagicalStarRain 599 December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 So I've been hearing that your parents want you to watch and play bloody, gore-filled things as opposed to an innocent show that has morals and stuff? Along with my rebellious advice and the one I posted about going deep into their motives, why not give them something gorey from this fandom? Show them Cupcakes or Rainbow Factory! And about the episode selection, I suggest Return to Harmony or The Crystal Empire. 2 Click this dragon hatchling to help it grow, please!

I've seen what happens to people when their parents keep them under their thumbs too long. I never said you did. Let me quote the post I was talking about: Do not stand down to them. Go on edge, defend yourselves, clearly these people are intolerant and really why should you let them boss you around? Don't let them make you a push over because they're your parents. You tell them flat out that you'll do what makes you happy. Don't let them be intolerant. Your parents cannot force you to stop being a brony. You should even tell them that if you want. Don't let them change who you are. If they push you towards leaving the fandom, push them back. I'd hate to lose a wonderful member of the community like you. They act as if this is some sort of parents vs. kids or something. It doesn't work that way. The part I bolded is probably the part I disagree with the most. You can't just TELL YOUR PARENTS WHAT YOU'RE GONNA DO AND THAT THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. Again, it doesn't work that way. You are legally under their control until you are 18. If you do what is bolded, punishments are likely to follow and your life will be even more miserable than it is. Not to mention that you also won't be able to be a brony either. I've seen what happens to people when their parents keep them under their thumbs too long. Sure, once he has enough money to live by himself and can sustain a good life, go for it if he wants to. But until then, he has to live with his parents or else his life will probably go downhill. You have to remember people, I don't think losing the relationship with your parents and just leaving and defying them is worth your bronyship. TheSupremeLeaderOfChaos 1,206 December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 Your parents have many rights. They gave you the gift of life after all! But one right they absolutely do not have is the right to force you not to like something. People tell children to obey and respect their parents. But if your dad came up to you and asked you to jump off the edge of a cliff, would you? Of course not! Parents are supposed to support their child in whatever their child does(unless it's illegal or something, in which case, well you should listen to your parents). But if there is one thing this show has impacted me init is being happy. I didnt even know how bad I felt inside until I began watching this show. Then. I began feeling truly happy. No parent has the right to take happiness away from their child. I don't care if it's a 'kid's' show! If it makes you happy, tell them! Don't be mean about it. Just tell them how you feel about it! About your friend. You never know what could happen when you show him the fandom. My friend got me into it by showing me a cool song. I was so curious about the song, I had to watch the show! I would show him the first two of the first season and then your favorite episodes. Even if he doesn't love it, if he is a true friend, he will stick with you. Stay strong, dude. GuillermoGage 246 December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 What's so conservative about these faggots? Friendship is Magic is a lot more morally well-rounded than a murder simulator like Call of Duty, which they want their son to play. The Thread Creator actually brohoofed a post in which I called his parents faggots. That it actually quite amusing. But something I don't know yet is how the relationship with his parents was before this. Their reaction to something as harmless as this series suggests that they have been draconian in other ways and have enforced macho crap before, unless maybe this really was a surprise about their character that they had such a reaction to this? I may be wrong, but they kind of seem too trendy to be the more predictable type of stingy traditional parents. The excuses they put up seem to derive from their brains being saturated by mass-media douchebaggery. A major theme of raising your kids up to have good-ol', timeless morals is (teaching your kids) not to be influenced by contemporary media cynics, which is.... well, I think that is where they got this idea to jump down their kid's throat like this.

I mean, lots of important newspapers from the world have put the spotlight on us and actually weren't bad on how they portrayed us, and evena political group in Germany requests "Ponytime", which is like a break in which they watch pony episodes to calm the mood down, from time to time, but the amount is never revelead. Only bronies probably have tried doing the calculations. Sorry. Or what Savato gave you, which I hope works for something. The Thread Creator actually brohoofed a post in which I called his parents faggots. That it actually quite amusing. Hold the phone, now, I was focusing more on the fact the irony being presented in the fact my parents are fine with me playing a "murder simulator" as it was put, as opposed to watching an innocent TV show. Besides, I've already been called an immature faggot by a friend of mine for liking the show, so brohoofing something using similar vocabulary wouldn't really prove any points (no offense GuillermoGage). Giving the silent treatment, starving myself, and being depressed would make them worried, but when they figure out it's because of me not watching the show, they'd be furious and wouldn't listen to reason. I may be wrong, but they kind of seem too trendy to be the more predictable type of stingy traditional parents. The excuses they put up seem to derive from their brains being saturated by mass-media douchebaggery. Well, they do follow the news a lot, and they've bought into the idea that violent video games are a definite factor in mass shootings. And if I try to show anything that would prove against it, they'd say it's not a reliable source or something similar. Same thing with this, they saw one article slandering bronies and that's how they've justified their actions. Forget the positive articles that have been written about us, no, they're clearly written by unreliable people that just happened to be on the news team.
