Isn't it interesting how:

·Abraham and Sarai were too old
·Jacob was a deceiver and liar
·Leah was ugly
·Joseph was abused
·Gideon was scared
·Samson had long hair and was a womaniser
·Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
·Isaiah preached naked
·Jonah ran from God
·Peter denied Christ
·The Samaritan women was a multiple divorcee
·Zaccheus was too small
·Thomas was a doubter
·Timothy had an ulcer and
·Lazarus was dead!·

"Lazarus was dead" Laughed at this part.

Well no ones perfect.

Don't forget that Moses killed a guy! We had a thing about this in church called "Sunday School Heroes." The pastor told us this for when we felt like we didn't deserve salvation, that even the greatest figures in the Bible sinned! Not including Jesus, of course.

Hey it doesn't exactly say Leah was ugly :( Rachel was just more loved by Jacob is all, no need to insult the poor girl ^_^

It's random because I just don't see why if he actually does do this he can't do it with people who are truly devoted and need him most :( That's the whole point I'm trying to make, I don't want to believe in an unfair God so I would just prefer to believe he doesn't actually make contact with anyone directly -_-

Well that's your belief and I won't say it's wrong, but again, how do you know some people more "want" that connection rather than strictly "need" it? If a child thinks they need to do something that they think is vital to their survival, but the parent knows their child better than they know themselves, is the parents being unfair? Specifically, if they never take the training wheels of their kids bike so they never learn to ride on their own, is that person a good parent?

What does getting blasted with holy magic feel like? I know it hurts the heck out of demons and such but...what does it feel like on regular people or monsters in a battle?

In what game or movie are you talking about?

Just a personal quirk, I'd rather not consider it "holy magic" as 1) it's not magic 2) some Christians condone magic as being associated with the devil.

Aside from that, it sounds like you're basing this off of some game context, just like @Steel Accord said. All I can imagine is that it's probably a very cleansing/weight-lifting feeling.

I understand lol. I was just wondering what it feels like getting blasted in the face with a holy laser blast or something, and yes, some christians DO condone magic as being associated with the devil. I actually didn't know that till I was 14. Sorry if I said anything offensive >_<

No offense taken. I guess I should have worded it more like "be careful what you say regarding magic" or something. :)

You didn't I just wasn't sure exactly what you were asking.

To answer your question, I don't think you are framing it properly. The Catholic Church does do exorcisms, but the priest performing them isn't using the cross like a magic wand in Harry Potter, it's a battle of will and faith against the intruding party.

So using . . . whatever your defining against people would not even work. God isn't a weapon to bludgeon people over the head with, much as the atheists accuse Him of being. To be filled with the Holy Spirit, you need only meditate, pray, go to a church, or receive Communion to feel. I know I always feel like a million dollars after mass.

Of course, not all Christians regard "magic" as being outside of God.

What exactly do you mean by anointed? In my (very much Catholic) experience, that specific term doesn't get thrown around a lot.

While grandma puts her hand on my head then starts praying for me and then puts the oil on my forehead.

I don't know, sounds a little archaic to me, but I don't know your grandmother or your denomination so I'm likely just being paranoid.

It just occurred to me how awful that sounded so I would appreciate if you disregard my words. Instead I will say, with sincerity, that I'm happy you are even considering being anointed.

Same here with Steel, not sure what your denomination is or who your grandmother is, but usually, I'd think someone like a pastor, or someone with religious authority would anoint. Then again, what am I saying, we've got Extraordinary Minsters who go about anointing and distributing communion... but then again, they've been given the authority to do so as laymen.

I do admit, that I may have come across as being harsh/accusatory as well. I didn't mean to either. Just with religious differences, the internet, and lack of knowledge leaves people hanging and making assumptions. It is indeed a good thing(regardless of her religious affiliations) that you are getting anointed by your grandmother. In God's eyes, at the very least you're striving to get closer to Him, to become one with Him, through any means necessary, whether official or not... and that's what really counts.

You're welcome, and have a good night :)

Speaking of denominations, what denomination is everyone here in? Not to judge or anything; I'm just curious.

So far I know Steel Accord and I think Sudo Krenton are catholic. I myself am part of a "Church of Christ".

You are correct but I think it's also fair to mention I'm what is technically known as an ecumenical Catholic. (And I would personally add an outright syncretic one.)

You'd be correct in thinking that. I grew up as a Roman Catholic, but with some exposure to the Byzantine Catholic rite. Both hold the same beliefs and teachings, they just conduct conduct services and the liturgical year differently. I prefer the Byzantine rite over the Roman rite.... just a matter of preference.

I would call myself non denominational. Even though I grew up with generally Protestant teachings, I just don't really see myself as one denomination or the other

Fair enough; I wasn't sure what denomination I was until I looked it up XD

Oh, but I spent high school with a Christian co-op group(I was homeschooled). So I got exposure from multiple different denominations and beliefs... We'd have debates, even though we were supposed to be studying or learning xD. Some pretty awesome people I met at the co-op.

I went to a Catholic grade school but then a private high school, so I was exposed to different denominations and religions then.
