What do you wish for generation 5?

I want it a TV-14 show, a few guns once and a while, just to give it flare. It definitely needs some shipping, so we can have a more interesting tone. It needs more male characters, because you need it. A futuristic tone perhaps, it would make so much sense and it could connect with FIM lightly. Some more light shed on what happened 1,000 years ago would be nice.

But one thing that comes to my mind is a none cartoon live-action movie sinceMLP ain't tried that yet, something animated like how they did Alvin and the Chipmunks movies with Jason Lee without the bad script. And NOT pastel colored ponies or any of that stuff but maybe slightly cartoony (like AATC) but more realistic looking and different characters (so not the mane 6), maybe a remake (not word for word scene by scene) remake of Escape From Midnight Castle.

 

That's my idea I came up with: I suppose maybe the time G5 comes a long G4 might have run out of ideas and would be a bad idea to redo in G5. But speaking from now at season 4 (as I write this it is) I'd want another G4: which is my least favorite but more honest answer on  the G5 topic. I agree at present that another G4 show would be great, but only downside is everyone says the same thing about G5 and I wanted to come up with something else

I want more plastic in the toys... G1 toys fit my hands pretty comfortably when I was six.  The original brown pony was a bit big when I was young, and I haven't handled any of the G4 ponies, but they look small.

 

The original MLP and Friends had a ton of characters, but I remember some of the personalities like WindWhistler.  Perhaps the next series could focus on AppleBloom, SweetyBelle, and Scootaloo, and each episode has them meeting new ponies and writing to the others about their adventures.

I'm part of the original age demographic for MLP toys, and my mother is still storing them and my legos... My first pony that wasn't the huge brown one was FireFly... I shaved her recently because I wanted to re-root her and turn her into a pegleg parrot pegasus.  (We finally stopped trying to glue her leg back on when I was young.)  I originally thought my only valueable pony was Mimic, but there are a few others that I treated nicer and might be worth trying to sell without the bait tag.

As I have said. I would love it if they did like what they did with Beast Wars. Have it set in the same universe at a different time, be slightly more mature. Explore and expand the universe, and have a much larger overarching story line.

I wouldn't expect mature stuff since mlp is after all targetted towards kids. (so we wouldn't be seeing any PG-13 stuff)

 

I would say G5 would basically be a replica of G4. This guess is taken from relationship between G1 and G2 (G1 was a success, hence G2 replica)

If there would be a Generation 5 around sometime in the future, whoever makes it should be really sure to make it better than G4, otherwise it will only end up being a flop. Some things I'd like to see in G5 would probably be new ponies as main protagonists (nothing against the current ones but it's supposed to be an entirely new generation) who should be dealing with similar adventures like the current season but at the same time show some problems of the society (it's been shown in G4 several times but not quite as much as I'd like to see it really). If it only were a remake of G4, it is probably going to be boring really fast but considering the recently won Brony Community I would say G5 would go in a mature way most likely, no age restrictions but the plot involves topics that children might not understand that much a little more.

Anything connected to G4 would just be marked as either a G4.5 prequel, sequel or spinoff. All ideas I like, but we're talking G5, something different.

 

As much as I love regular animation, maybe it wouldn't be a bad Idea to go CGI. Use Garry's mod and Source editor to make the series more or less (or just get the teams who did main frame, beast wars & transformers prime). Or maybe go halfway and do a video game type animation style, like they did in Gundam SD, Transformers Energon & Cybertron, or in the Inuyasha: Feudal Combat, .//Hack: Infection or Jet Set Radio Future games.   

 

For story, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to go the G1 route and throw in humans. See how humans would react in the fantastical, near Utopian world of Equestria. Perhaps have an alliance forged between various human and pony characters to face off against threats from either world or to confront every day and personal problems in some slice of life scenarios. Maybe have the humans turn into ponies and gain special powers or have the ponies turn into humans ala EQG but retain their powers. We could have the whole human and pony/creature partnerships akin to Pokemon, Digimon, Zach Bell, S-cry-ed, Dragonaut, Soul Eater, Moncole knights or Beyblade.  Maybe it could be both sides working together to discover a hidden link between the human and equine realms, or perhaps a human/pony was raised int he opposite realm and must know find a way back and discover the truth behind their home realm and themselves.

 

Or we could do what Digimon Season 3 did, and have MLP G4 be a legit franchise within the continuity of the show, and the show is about bronies, non-fans, or even haters learning that Equestria is real, and beings from that realm are crossing into the human world, and the human characters must cross over into Equestria to face both adventure and personal challenges. Things could get really deep for a kids show.

I think they've got G4 pretty much perfect, I don't feel the need for another MLP generation.

 

I also disagree with making it PG - both us (bronies) and them (kids) all enjoy the show to quite an extent, and I believe that Hasbro have got a very good balance between satisfying the two age groups. We can't expect Hasbro to cater the show just for us, so lets just keep it G.

Think about this: G1 was focused towards little kids/babies, G2 was focused towards kids, G3 was focused towards 6 or 8 year olds, and G4 is focused bigger kids/young adults. G5 will probably evolve in age and become a show for teens or older kids, meaning a more intense experience.

Meh. Theres no real reason why Hasbro would follow that line. They were probally testing out which They have no need to create  G5.

I mean I know this whole thread is about what things you would wish for if there was a G5 to come out. But why would we want a G5 now it has only been a couple years since the show was made with G4 set in stone. Plus it was G4 that brought out all the excellence we have now. Why would you want to rush out a G5 just already. 

 

I would not even know really what I would like to see in a G5...

When Gen 5 rolls around, I would like to see slight hints of the previous generations, but as The Weapon said, more sense of adventure throughout the land of Equestria, or whatever they're going to call it.

 

It'd be nice to see a few more stallions, but I don't wanna see the mares of the cast go all by boy-crazy... -.-

 

One more thing I'd like to see out of Gen 5 is a n animation style that closely resembles Gen 4… I know that's impossible, but it'd be nice to see!

I could care less on how the ponies appear on G5, since they're most likely going to change into something alien. But if they maintain that spirit it had in G4, I can accept it.
