After about a minute that felt like forever, Diamond leaned back and smiled. "Wow." She said, Hugging him tightly. "That was...Awesome." *Oh my sweet Celestia...I ACTUALLY HAVE A COLTFRIEND.* She thought, Nuzzling the side or Nightfall's neck. *This is...The best night ever.*

 

He closed his eyes and smiled, a bit red from blushing.

"Solidified. You have a marefriend. And a good looking one, who isn't much older than you AND is an alicorn. Better hope this isn't a dream..."

He hugged her back. After another minute, he let go and looked at her, still smiling.

"So... back to the dorms..? I'm feeling like I could drink a bit more to make sure this isn't a dream."

He laughed.

Luckily, feeling the shadows coming from down the hall, Lite could tell Sky was on his way here. She quickly threw on the dress, even though it itched like crazy, and waited for him to show up in the room. Surprisingly, she didn't feel the slightest bit nervous..

"Buck it. I'll go." Sky said as he walked towards the door but then stopped. "No, no I can't." He began to turn around but then stopped again. "No, I shall go I have to." Sky said to himself as he left the room and walked down the hallway until he was outside Life's room. *No turning back now.* He thought as he knocked on the door. "Hey, Lite it's me I'd just thought I'd come over to.." *Buck, I need a reason. Dammit I knew I shouldn't of come. Think, think, think.* ".. To uhhh see you?"

"Buck it. I'll go." Sky said as he walked towards the door but then stopped. "No, no I can't." He began to turn around but then stopped again. "No, I shall go I have to." Sky said to himself as he left the room and walked down the hallway until he was outside Life's room. *No turning back now.* He thought as he knocked on the door. "Hey, Lite it's me I'd just thought I'd come over to.." *Buck, I need a reason. Dammit I knew I shouldn't of come. Think, think, think.* ".. To uhhh see you?"

 

Lite was prepared, as her regular magic unlocked the door, and it swung open. "Oh, hi Sky.", she said a bit cheery. "It's nice of you to visit me... Why don't you come in? My roommate isn't in here, so you don't have to be embarrassed.", she said with a lightheartend smile.

Huh. Had he seriously not noticed yet? Well, Cascade wasn't going to draw attention to her own wings if she could help it.  "I'm fine," she said with a smile. She twined her tail with his as they began to walk, and she let him lead her to the restaurant. "I don't mind a bit of a walk."

Rambler didn't really say anything the rest of the way, choosing instead to just enjoy walking and being with Cascade.

 

Eventually they arrived their destination, a fairly upscale, but still relatively casual, restaurant.

 

"I hope this place is okay. It seemed appropriate for a first date, I guess."

Light was now nervous and distressed. He nudged her slightly, then looked at her.

"Of course we can."

He smiled, but deep inside, he was a bit sad.

"Everything was perfect... but now the mood has been slightly ruined, if not fully ruined."

He spread his own wings and started hovering.

You have really pretty eyes...", she said, glancing into his eyes, and seeing they WERE actually pretty.

"It looks good to me," Cascade said as she looked at the building. They were lead to a table by the hostess, and Cascade had to admit that she was rather impressed by the atmosphere. Even the seats were comfortable. She smiled as she looked at the menu, simply enjoying Rambler's presence. Although, admittedly, the silence did seem a bit drawn out.

Diamond joined him in the air and then started flying back to the school. "I'm so sorry Nightfall...I promised her that we would go shopping earlier...And then I got swept off my hooves by the nicest colt in the school." She said, Trying to lighten the mood as they flew.

Rambler felt an uncomfortable silence between them and tried to remedy it. He was worried that something was wrong, and it might well be his fault.

 

"Are you sure nothing's wrong? You can tell me. Is it me? Am I doing something wrong? Whatever it is, I'm sure it's okay, just please tell me."

Cascade rolled her eyes again. This colt truly was oblivious. She decided to just show him, and be done with it. "I'm sorry. It's just..." She didn't know how to say it, so she showed him instead. She branched out her wings slightly, just enough to show Rambler how they really looked. "The potion wore off..." And therefore, she was closer to her usual, self-conscious, nervous self. She couldn't help worrying that he might not like her as much because of it.

Rambler just stared at her wings for a while, not knowing what to say. If he said the wrong thing, their relationship could end before it really started. Eventually he couldn't figure out what he should say, so he just said everything and poured out all that was going through his mind.

 

"Wow... so this is what you were hiding when we first met? They're... incredible. I know you don't like them, but honestly I think their fine. Better than fine, actually; they just make you that much more special. Honestly, the reason I didn't notice them before is because i was just focused on how beautiful you are, and I wasn't really thinking about it. I think you look even better with your wings the way they are now. It's you that I care about, and I want you to be yourself, and to be comfortable that way. You shouldn't be ashamed of your wings; you should embrace them and the way they make you special."

"Nope." She said. She kept a very straight face for a moment then laughed. "I'm just kidding, Of course I'm sure about it." She smiled and walked up the stairs leading up their dorm room's. "Tonight...Was wonderful...And I definitely want to do it again." She said, Turning to look at Nightfall.

For that moment, his heart stopped and almost dropped. Then she laughed and said she was kidding. He stood there for a moment, then laughed himself.

"You scared me for a moment there."

And then she said she would like to do it again.

"So would I."

He smiled at her, gaining confidence.

Cascade's eyes welled up slightly, and she averted them from Rambler, forcing the tears back. It was wonderful. She could kiss him. Of course, she didn't; she remembered all too well last time what had happened, and didn't want to be left hanging again like she had with Star Keeper... If precedence served... But her wings did tuck shamefully back into her sides. Nice things other ponies said didn't fix her view of them. The memories of the times she had been teased in Los Pegasus didn't evaporate that quickly. "Thank you," was all she could manage to say.

Rambler saw her tear up at his statement and felt like he had to do something. He put his arm* around her in a comforting and affectionate way.

 

 "You don't have to thank me, I was just telling the truth. I think you're perfect just the way you are, and I want you to see that."

 

He really wanted her to realize just how amazing and beautiful she was.

Light looked sad, and was about to ask when he heard what she said. He simply walked in beside her, being close but not yet touching her. He stood there, silent, awaiting the answer. He was there because he had planned on being here and because Light seemed sad.

"Crying? Uh, no, I haven't been... Crying...", Lite nervously said, trying to conceal the fact that she did. She tried her best to shift the conversation. "So, uh... Looks like we're alone... Uh... You have really pretty eyes...", she said, glancing into his eyes, and seeing they WERE actually pretty.

"You know, you have pretty beautiful eyes too." *They'd look even better if you hadn't been crying.* Sky could quite easily tell that Lite had been crying but he decided not to press on the issue that had made her cry but instead help her forget about it and cheer her up. "In fact I'd say everything about you is beautiful." Sky complimented.
