Fender 1,283 January 28, 2013 Share January 28, 2013 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY3fSmwfvgw I think it all speaks for itself, the .MOV series in general is horrifying, yet hilarious, but the memes take it to a whole new level. Lightning Fluttershy 1,844 January 28, 2013 Share January 28, 2013 (edited) SHED.MOV is my personal favourite, and yes, it's because of Fluttershy. Even in that deranged, psychotic, murderous form, she manages to be cute to me. XD Not to mention she's hilarious. Galex Dj 173 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 this is my most favorite one yet due to the fact that i love robots and pony.mov and i guess the "wait up you asshole's what are we doing here" Those two are my favorites as well as the "Hey, Hey, Hey, what did I tell you about coming in my shed?" meme Anytime I show my friends the .MOV series, they always have nightmares the next night about ponies. But I'm always sitting in the back laughing my ass off. And that's why they think something is horribly wrong with me. TailsIsNotAlone 3,695 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 (edited) "Hmmm, let's see!!! Nope, that one isn't funny...no, not that one either...OR that one...notthatone notthatone notthatone notthatone.............." I don't think any of them are funny. In fact I'll take this opportunity to say my first and last word on these videos. Lauren Faust set out to create a show that deliberately bucked the trend of cheap, snarky nastiness that's so prevalent in American entertainment, even some children's entertainment. And the .MOV videos are exactly that. They represent everything that MLP is not. Now I like some of that stuff (Beavis and Butt-head) and it definitely has a place. But the My Little Pony fandom is not it. Edited January 29, 2013 by TailsIsNotAlone 4 "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..." Fresh Meat 115 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 SHED.MOV is probably the best so far ( or maybe PARTY.MOV ) I just love the fact that Flutters was made as the psychotic killer type; whom will always give me nightmares now. ~War is based on Deception_

While MLP is certainly a unique show, Faust wasn't really defying precedent by making a children's TV show that doesn't feature violence and sexual content. As to your problems with .MOV, there are really two issues. 1) You don't find the humor funny. 2) You find the tones/themes/animation to be a degradation to society. As the the first, there is nothing remotely wrong with that opinion, nor is it even possible to argue about (people have different tastes). As for the second...well...you're trying to say what the entire fandom should do. I can't help but feel that some of your criticism is not at the snarkiness of the humor, but at the fact that there is blood/profanity/drug use/etc (I doubt you would be as critical towards a perfectly PG show that just had a lot of sarcasm). That is, once more, a matter of personal taste. If you are disgusted by blood, or are more conservative and frown on depictions of drugs and sex, that's fine, just remember that it is an opinion. What I'm most intrigued by, though, is your attack on the show's "snarkiness", which is (at least in my mind) a negative term used to describe a sort of pointed sarcasm and cynicism. Unfortunately for people who do not like it, sarcasm has been a mainstay of American culture since the mid 19th century. Mark Twain's novels (which arguably created modern American literature) were so shocking because they were snarky; they had sarcastic, at times cynical social commentary. While you may feel that .MOV overdoes sarcasm, you must agree that sarcasm certainly does fill a purpose and role in society. Considering that .MOV has its moments of brilliant parody and social commentary (brilliant in the succinctness of the ideas, not in the originality), I find the "snarkiness" perfectly justified. So, in short, you don't have to watch .MOV. Just remember that it is a matter of taste, and that the series is not morally bankrupting. As one final note: It is quite clear the .MOV has not ruined or corrupted ponies. No one less than Ashleigh Ball, voice actor of Applejack and Rainbow Dash, said in an interview that she was a fan of .MOV. Andrea Libman, voice actor of Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, has expressed a bit more skepticism towards "the dark side", but was still willing to quote .MOV at a panel when a fan requested that she do a line. _____ As for favorite meme: Likely either "Ba ba ba" or "Crush Kill Destroy Swag". 2 #SOCKS

And the .MOV videos are exactly that. They represent everything that MLP is not. Now I like some of that stuff (Beavis and Butt-head) and it definitely has a place. But the My Little Pony fandom is not it. All in all, it's the obsurdity and incongruence that we find funny about it. Really, it is SO out of place that it's funny. Granted, it's a matter of taste, but there's no reason to say it just doesn't belong in full. Crude humor belongs anywhere and everywhere, really. I make crude jokes about my own beliefs, bronies sometimes, myself, anything I like, and anything other people believe in, or like, etc. in a way in which they don't have to hate me for it. In another sense, the .MOV series brings out darker sides of the characters we love. In a very real sense, the characters are perfectly portrayed as VERY HEAVILY exaggerated BAD sides of the real characters. Hence, Rarity's generosity portrayed as self-absorbed abuse of power, very easily reflects her actions in "Sleepless in Ponyville" how she made Sweetie Belle do everything, and still tried to seem completely innocent. Believe it or not, the characters we know and love, can be portrayed in many more ways than they usually are. While the .MOV series is for crude comedy, it also goes to show how very perceptive Hotdiggetydemon is and that he can make the opposite sides of the personalities of those innocent ponies we know so easily. It's art. To each their own though.
Nohbdy 4,108 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 I don't like any of the videos, frankly. While I recognize the passion and effort that goes into the series, I find the jokes crude and not at all funny. It's not why I watch ponies. Others see things differently, and I understand that, but this just isn't MLP to me. Also, OP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk No, seriously. PONY.MOV could be considered a meme, but each individual video is not a meme, just as individual image macros are not memes.
Abstract 832 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 SHED.mov. The others are also pretty funny, but this one takes the cake by far. I'm not going to quote any of the awesome lines for censorship purposes, but seriously, there's some comedic gold in there. "Let the steel of my resolve be not bested by the sum of my fears."
