Quip is apparently titanically stoned, and we have to sneak into a mountain which is guarded by a bunch of heavily armed pegasi. Also, we nearly had to fight an army of said pegasi, but Maroon created a distraction and they never found where we were hiding.

Okay...lets all just assume Flame had followed. Where is it they are hiding ? I need to make a post so I can catch up.

They're just in some random bushes not far from the foot of the mountain. Technically it's still in the forest.

Alright people, i'm going to be drawing a line under this RP here.

Activity has been dwindling rapidly and im not going to keep dragging you all back to it, it's not fair on those of you who aren't interested to keep posting just for the sake of it.

I would like to say a thank you for taking part in it, at least. Being my first RP and jumping into advanced DMing like that, I would like to think it went pretty well, all things considered.

It did start to get repetitive didn't it? I even felt that after a while.

I'm never really sure when to put the time skips in though, I mean I didn't want to skip ahead if someone had an idea to post something and make them miss their opportunity, and I didn't want to skip too often because that would have just not been worth doing.

I definitely need to learn pacing though, clearly!

And any suggestions on how I could make it more interesting than just walking around and fighting? I notice towards the end it just became walking around, which is never fun haha

I have to admit that even though I wasn't very active towards the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I'm sad to see it go. I think you did an excellent job for your first time DMing, especially having attempted something so ambitious. If it had moved a little faster, maybe with some puzzles and mystery solving type elements, it could have been truly great. As is, it was certainly a lot of fun.

Oh, and I might borrow the combat system you used sometime, if that's okay with you.

Go for it, I dont mind.

But if I might ask, how would one implement puzzle solving mechanics and have them open to the party?

I did consider having something like that at one point, but I figured it would have to ultimately be me that figured it out, to keep it making sense with the story (I had the entire thing planned out from start to finish, no point coming in half cocked is there?) and really, it would just be a time stretcher that would make the others feel like they weren't doing anything. At least in my eyes, that's the way it would go.

Speaking of the combat system... I have been doing a skype roleplay that has three different room types (horror house themed RP).

Puzzle, where there are objectives. The ponies have to determine if an objective is fake or not, and if its fake and they complete it, there is a trap. Once they complete all real objectives they move onto the next room. Fake objectives and real objectives are based on a flip of the coin. Trap lethality is based on a roll of the die from 1 to 6. 6 Being nothing happens.

Then there are trap rooms, where you have to move 3 times, and each move has a chance to spring a trap. Lethality and chance of hitting a trap is based on a roll of the die. Once they have moved 3 times, they move onto the next room.

Then there are riddles. If you get a riddle wrong, a trap activates, lethality is again based on a roll of the die. You must get 3 riddles correct to pass into the next room.

I got the idea of using die rolls and coin flips from this roleplay, and I must say its working rather well.

Well, I guess you could do something to affectively take yourself out of the puzzle solving process, and just give hints, but honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe you could have something where you get knocked unconscious or separated from the rest of the group and thus can't solve the puzzle, but you can offer hints out of character if necessary.

I never thought of using riddles...that's actually a good one that I WILL steal...sometime. And probably badly.

I'll take this advice on board for any other RPs i'll be doing, once I get some ideas.

If any of you feel like joining then... ;)

Aha, but I dont think i'll be making another for a while. Going to get some ideas and stuff in the books first.

And im glad my dice system worked out for everyone xD
