Applejack Sketches (Critiques Welcome)

So, one day, I wanted to do a couple sketches of Rainbow Dash.  So, naturally...it turned into Applejack, and I have no idea why!  Oh well, I need to draw AJ more anyway, so this is a start.

 

Not much to really say about these, other than if anyone has any critique, suggestions or whatever else to add, I would greatly appreciate it as I know there is more than one area in each of these that would use some type of improvement.  For example, in the top left sketch, I feel I could have done something to give it a more sense of movement.  And my apologizes for the poor quality; my drawings do tend to get a little messy, especially when I cram several in a small space.  As for her missing hat...we will just say Dash stole it and call it a day.

Those are really good, I love the more "realistic" style than the regular "cartoony" one.

The bottom left one is terrifying me, though.

I really can't see much to pick over here; the terrifying one looks a teeny bit weird to me, like her neck is too long or something. That's about it.

I really like your style. I love sketches like these though, to me they show more character than a finished product. They fit that middle ground of being refined, ready to be finished, but are still dirty.

 

Missing hat aside ("Curse you Rainbow Dash!") the one where she is rearing up is awesome. Would make a great tattoo. If you do requests or commissions we may need to chat since I've been trying to figure out a good AJ tattoo to get since I don't want just a cutie mark like so many get done.

Wow, that looks awesome! But I think the tail should be a bit longer on the bottom left one.

I also think it'd be amazing if you drew some Alicorns, your art style would be perfect for them!

These are some really well done sketches! They're quiet realistic looking compared to the cartoony look of normal AJ, but they're still pretty good.

 

The bottom left  one is a bit strange.. I dunno whats up with it but it looks like somethings up with it, almost looks like she has this menacing grin on her face or something.

 

They're all real good though! Great job .

Yes, this pose did give me a bit of trouble, seeing as how she is supposed to be rearing up and and her chest is suppose to be pointing more upward. If you see something off, then it is worth looking into. Perhaps the entire pose is off, positioning of the legs? Something with the shoulders? I am not quite sure but I will have to look at it again. Thank you for the comment!

First of all, thank you for the lovely comments. I really appreciate it.

 

I think that is one reason I am continually hesitant to finish any of my works is that I enjoy the rough look of these sketches or more unrefined drawing. Though I will concede that I wish I did have more finished drawings to share. I will have to find an effective way to fuse those two elements together.

 

Though it would be an absolute dream to take on commissions, I do not feel that my drawing abilities are refined enough for it I have a hard enough time trying to satisfy myself with my work, let alone someone willing to pay for it. However, I do have a request topic open in the Creative Resources area if you wish to look into that or you can simply PM me and we can talk there.

 

Finally, I do not have a DA account. I did quite some time ago, but I felt it was a wasted effort since my primary goal was to gather critique on my work that was never given. So, I closed it down. I just do not wish to start another one for the same thing to happen again.

 

Just a random question, but it there a limit to how much one type in one reply? I ask this becuase it seems I cannot reply to the other responses on this topic at this time.
