"spell? um maybe um." chatty had an idea in his head. "um maroon can i have the key a sec?" he took the key and walked over to the markings. that are now glowing much more now. he placed the key at the top of the markings that look like a horn and he read the spell. that is not a spell. the key started to move but stoped. chatty thought maybe a unicorn has to read it or we all have to chant it.

chatty told them all what he is thing "so we must try both methods and every unicorn needs to give the chant a go to see if it will work it is our only lead lets try" he looked over and tryed to think on what to do.   

 

(one pony has to get the key to move in one direction and we follow the floting key this is what i have in mind this will get us going i have a lesson now and it is two hours long be back in two hours)

Night Song nodded and took off into the woods. She still didn't try to fly and was still constantly stretching her wings and out repeatedly to prevent stiffness. She kept searching for the moss until she finally found some. Afterwards though, she couldn't tell which direction she had come from. So she finally tried flying and saw everypony to the east, so she flew in that direction and landed with a small sound of pain.

Quip started to get even more annoyed with the red pegasus. "If you want to go blindly walking into a cave, then go ahead. But i'm going to stay on the set path and get to where we were actually going"

Flame quietly followed behind everypony else. *I just want to find this amulet...if the key will help with that...than Great. Lets do the key thing.* He thought, looking into the cave. "I know one thing. We are not splitting up. We need lots of ponies if we're going into the cave. the whole group." He said.

(Can we just drop the key idea Chatty? It's been tried and failed, and I can't think of anything else other than what we're doing. I'll include your idea in a minute, in my own way)

 

"Alright, well...we're at the cave now so..." he sighed, looking back at everypony behind him "nothing ventured...nothing gained" he stepped into the gaping maw of the cave ahead, into total darkness. "Did anypony bring a torch? Gonna be hard to see if not" he crumpled his nose as a water drop dripped on it. "Now try and stay close, this cave isn't very big but it's easy to get lost in - i've been in here before"

Lost Knowledge stepped forward.

 

"I don't have a torch, but I think I can take care of it."

 

He focused his magic, causing his horn to glow brightly, illuminating the inside of the cave.

 

"Everypony will have to stay close to me, though. I can only illuminate a small area."

"Alright, good. Everypony keep an eye out for anything that looks out of place. Whatever looks in place here..." Discharge continued walking ahead of the group, just on the edge of Lost Knowledge's light. He almost fell into a pool a few steps further on, and more water dripped from the ceiling. "I think the chances of finding something like a lockbox in here are...slim" he mumbled, looking around some more. It was total darkness all around them now, only Lost knowledge's light was keeping them visible.

Maroon's ears perked up on the sound of dripping water. He never knew there was a lake or a river nearby. At least it was a good news, the Diamond Dogs, if there was any in the cave, wouldn't dare to dig around too much lest there would be a cave in. He absentmindedly lifted a nearby small rock with his telekinesis, bobbing it up and down as the group made their way into the cave.

They where searching around the cave for a good hour, getting further and further in and taking more twists and turns all the time. Eventually Discharge turned around and started making his way back out. "We're never going to find anything in here. It's a lost cause. We may as well take the path that we can see, at least."

 

After probably another two hours of making their way back out, thanks to being lost for a while, they finally say daylight again. Or whatever was left as the sun set over the horizon, at least. "Alright everypony quick, we need to grab some firewood for the night and we'll sleep in the mouth of the cave. It seems safe enough." 

 

(So, here's the time skip where everyone gets all healed up and stuff. Anyone want to do anything before we skip? I'll give you all some time to post, then we'll just...well...skip. You can post in the OOC if you're ready, or just not post at all. Either way is cool if you don't feel like it )

Maroon Sky was justifiably relieved when Ardent decided that enough was enough and left the damp cave behind them. Being lost in a tight, dark space was never a pleasant experience. When the last of the group exited the cave, he threw the earlier pebble to it, watching as the pebble bounced along the floor into the darkness. He shuddered. "Thanks Celestia for the sun..."

 

After stretching his back a few times, Maroon trotted to a nearby dead branches and lifted some to the group. "Do you think there would be another timberwolves this night?" He asked to nopony in particular.

"I hope not, and if there are...well..." Discharge replied curtly as he broke of a branch with his wing. "We shouldn't be needing too much wood tonight either, sleeping in the cave will hopefully reduce wind flow for putting out the fire." He piled the wood on in the middle of the cave's entrance, getting it ready to light. "Anyway, we're in an easily defended location, being here. We should be able to catch up on some rest" he was interrupted by his stomach rumbling "and apparently some food too." he chuckled. 

 

"Maroon, when you're finished with that, would you do the honours again please?" he asked, nodding at the pile of logs and grass.

"My pleasure." Maroon Sky kicked the pile a few times just to make sure there was nothing alive in it. When he was sure, he channelled the spell through his horn and soon the bonfire lit itself. The cave's entrance bathed in warm light. "I have some food with me. It should be enough for three ponies for about two days." He rummaged through his saddle bag, pulled out a small plastic bag filled with an assortment of dried bread and spices and offered it to Ardent. "It tastes weird, but you will love it after a while."

 

Maroon Sky took out another plastic bag and started eating it next to the bonfire.

Ardent took the back, and delved greedily into its contents. 

 

~ Time skip ~

 

It wasn't too long before he found himself waking up to birdsong the next morning. He looked around, and noticed everypony was also asleep around the fire still. 

 

"Early bird again Discharge...UP AND AT EM Everypony, we need to move again, following the tracks today." 

He was surprised at how well rested he felt, his injuries didn't hurt at all, and he felt strangely awake...

Flame reluctantly sat up and looked around. His leg was very stiff but...it wasn't hurting, in fact he felt rather surprised that it had healed so fast. "I bet it'll be good as new by the end of today." He muttered, slowly standing up. He yawned and stretched his wings and back.

chatty took what he could find to cover himsefl to keep warm. he kept a dagger under his make shift pillow a rock just in case and he tryed to get himself to sleep. he just thought what he could find with his skills and with that he drifted to sleep. chatty was rewoken he did not get to sleep. he just fell asleep and then woke up. "argh sunlight burns the eyes" chatty said half awake. he rubbed his eyes got his stuff and started to walk aroun a small area. to wake himself up and get ready to leave. he is very ready for this he thinks to himself. and he is ready for the task at hoof.

Quip popped upside down from a tree with a hoof full of berries. "I never sleep! At least, when I can't sleep. I took the time to search around and find some food. Although they are kinda disgusting... food is food! Might as well eat that instead of what we have packed, we can eat that stuff later" he said and disappeared back into the tree where he continued to eat his berries.

"How bizzarre..." Ardent laughed, amused by the ponies strange antics. He kicked over the firewood and covered it in dirt - not that there where many flames left by now. 

"Night Song, how're your wings? Can you fly any better yet?" Not that he actually expected her to know, unless she'd been flying during the night.

Lost Knowledge slowly got up, yawning and stretching as he did so.

 

"Alright, so what exactly is the plan for today? I think we pretty much exhausted all our leads yesterday, so are we going back to following the path, or what?"

 

He wasn't sure if continuing to move on was the wisest move, but he wasn't sure what more they could really do here.

Night Song woke up after an uncomfortable night of accidentally falling asleep on her outstretched right wing. She stretched it a little before flinching and gritting her teeth at the sharp pain. In response to Discharge's question, she replied,"I guess I can walk the whole way..."

Discharge frowned - "We need your wings Night, what about fighting? You need height with a bow." he tried to be comforting, but it was never really his thing. "and yes Lost, we'll be tracking that path. It seems like the most logical thing to do now and one we should have done in the first place..." he replied, but mumbling the last part to himself. 

 

Checking all his things where still together, he stood at the entrance to the cave ready to go.

"10 minutes for everypony to eat something and get ready. We're heading out soon" It was still dark outside, on account of the sun only just rising, but it was quickly getting lighter. He guessed in about 15 minutes they'd be well on their way. Back at the tracks in the hour...

Goldseek's eyes snapped open and he almost leapt to his hooves. He was determined to not be distracted today. He was annoyed at his random zoning out the the start of a fight. If it were to happen more, he would die. He knew he would die. Even with everypony else. The best way to not get distracted was to stay focused on what was going on.

Flame gave Discharge a confused look. "Hold on...Night isn't the only pegasus here...why do we need her wings ?" He asked, feeling a little confused as there were a few other pegasai including himself. "And I am never hungry in the morning...I will eat something later." He said, stretching his wings again.

It only makes sense for her to be up high." when he was stood next to him, he whispered in his ear "And I think she feels...I dunno I think she's still hurt over what happened yesterday. I just don't want her feeling like she's not being useful. After all, without her actually doing it, would anyone else have cleared the fog?" he flared his wings up demonstratively "I certainly couldn't have done it, even if I wanted to"

Flame raised an eyebrow. "There is no way we could have made it this far without her though...Never mind...I wont bring it up again." He muttered back, putting on his saddlebag. "Alright...do you think we should get going ?" He asked, tightening the straps on his saddlebag

"Definitely" he replied as he looked around the group. "Anypony who's not eaten, you'll have to eat on the walk" and he set off along the rocky path back to the chariot. "Quip, that means you too. Out of the tree, we're moving now."  

He took a look back at the rest of the group and noticed one of them was still sleeping - "Maroon! Are you coming or what?"
