Night Song stepped back when the creature finally fell. She went to retrieve her arrows, but could only walk because she ached so much from the impact of the attack. She slowly pulled out each arrow and hurried away from the Manticore before it could attack her again. She wobbled slowly back to the group.

@@Starshine,

Discharge nodded at Maroon sky when he said he'd be alright. Not being one to fuss over details, he just trusted he was okay.

"Hmm? Oh the key, yeah. I forgot about that." he said as he reached into his pocket. Looking over the key, he found nothing of interest, other than the same symbol than the one on the chariot. "Nothing of interest, see if you can find something" he said, placing the key on the chariot beside Maroon.

@,

"Don't worry about it, I know you're injured still, and everything turned out alright...more or less."
He looked around at the rest of the group - "can you see if you can help out with any injuries? I'm going to see if Night Song is alright, she took a big hit and...well...I don't know how well she'll hold up, she's only a little thing." he whispered.

He trotted over to Night Song quickly, standing in front of her while she was still away from everypony.
"Are you alright? You took a pretty nasty hit during that fight, and I think you hurt the tree too." he chuckled, trying to lighten the mood a little. "Good shooting by the way."

Maroon Sky took the small key with his telekinesis. It was a small thing, other than the moon symbol, it was particularly unremarkable in any way. He briefly wondered why Ardent gave the key to him. With a shrug he put the key in a small pouch in his saddlebag, next to the first aid supplies.

He tried to trot around the chariot for anything that might be worthy of notice, taking care of not putting too much weight on his dislocated hoof. There was nothing interesting around the chariot, other than the reins. Maroon Sky used his ignition spell to cut them off of the carriage and put the reins inside his saddlebag. With the chariot badly mangled and without a wheel, nopony would be able to pull it anyway.

"Hey Maroon, Let me get your hoof fixed." He said, walking over to Maroon. "My dad showed me how to do this and made sure I had it embedded in my mind...because walking is rather important." He chuckled. "That is...if you want a helping hoof." He said.

Night Song looked up immediately at Discharge with a faint hint of pride in her eyes. "Y-yeah... th-thanks!" she said shakily. She began opening her wings in and out, in and out to stretch them so that they wouldn't become stiff once they healed completely.

@@MagicalStarRain@@Starshine,

Discharge smiled warmly at her "take it easy, okay? We're all getting pretty worn down out here."

He returned to the chariot and started looking around for anything that may give them some clues as to the guards whereabouts.

"It's strange we don't see any tracks around here, there are clear signs of a struggle but..." something caught his eye. One of the corners of the seat had been burned. "...Maroon...you didn't hit this carriage with anything did you?" he called out, slightly confused.

Maroon Sky's ears perked on the offer. "That would be nice. Thanks." He felt bad not being able to help Flame Dancer on his shrapnel wound from the last night. "What about your own injuries?"

@,

"I figured there won't be any use for the reins to stay attached to the Chariot, so I cut it out." Maroon pointed a hoof to his saddlebag, one of the reins still popping out from the lid. "We may never know when we need to tie something."

"Alright, fair enough" he replied, still inspecting the chariot. There was nothing there, at all. He was just about to give up on it, when he noticed something...the fog had gone. Not that the missing fog made him stop checking, but in the distance he saw a glint out the corner of his eye, and several more burn marks on the nearby trees. "...how bad is your aim?" he asked as he laughed.

@@MagicalStarRain,

"Night Song, you feel like coming with me to check out that shiny thing in the distance?" he shouted over as he began walking slowly.

Maroon Sky could only sigh as Ardent pointed out the handiwork of his missed spells. "Bad enough to miss a charging timberwolf right in front of me. Fortunately I've never missed too far and hit a pony." He rubbed his horn, the fatigue from the previous night was almost gone. He never exactly missed a target and hit a pony, but he certainly had some kill count in the past. Not that he wanted to add more to the list, he wanted to avoid that if possible.

When Ardent trotted to check out for something, Maroon Sky called out to him, "Be careful, we don't know if there is anything else around here."

"Alright then...Sit down." He said, reaching into his saddle bag and pulling out a small wooden dowel. "Put that in your mouth...dislocated limbs are never really that fun." He said, holding out the dowel for Maroon to take. "And try not to move around allot...that could just make things worse."

Maroon Sky was a bit confused when Flame Dancer gave him a dowel. Was he supposed to bite it down? He highly doubted that a piece of wood could help in this matter.  He took it to his mouth nevertheless. When the dowel is secured between his jaws, he nodded to Flame Dancer. "Ahm ready."

"Alright...bite down." He said, taking Maroon's dislocated hoof in his own hooves. Then, he knocked it back into place with a rather satisfying click. "Well that's that...I remember dislocating my hoof when I was a foul...I was out camping so my father had to fix it for me...he had never really done it before so it hurt...quite a bit." He chuckled.

Night Song looked up again at Discharge and looked around. "Huh? What... what light?" she asked in wonder. "Could it be a guard with a f-flash mirror?" she asked, her voice becoming normal again. Although she could feel the pain leaving her body, she still kept stretching her wings in and out and didn't dare fly.

"I doubt it, not after this time. It's been at least 2 days. Come on, lets go." He started trotting in the direction of the glint, looking around and all the scorch marks on the surrounding trees. As he approached the shining object, he could make it out as a sword that had been stuck in a tree. He trotted up to it and started trying to pull it out, but it was wedged in pretty well.

Lost Knowledge saw Discharge trying to pull something out of a tree.

"Need some help?", he said, pulling on it with his magic.

"Wow, this thing is really stubborn"

Even with the full strength of his magic, Lost Knowledge was struggling to pull the sword free.

Quip followed Discharge in, wondering why a pony would shove a sword into a tree... unless it landed there somehow? "I don't think i wanna use a bomb on that thing. But i don't see any other way to get it out... it could be important. But i don't think its important enough to use a bomb on"

"I think *grunt* a bomb might *ugh* destroy it!" Discharge struggled as he fell over, the sword still in the tree.

"Whew! I don't see how it's important, other than the fact it's stuck in a tree. Clearly something went down here. Can you all look around and see if you find anything else?" After asking this, Discharge started looking around on the ground close to the sword, hoofing away the dirt and leaves looking for any prints or tracks.

@,

Maroon Sky bit down on the dowel, nearly breaking it in half and cracking one of his own teeth when Flame Dancer snapped his hoof back in place. He grunted loudly. When he was sure Flame Dancer was done, he spat the dowel to the ground. He tentatively moved the still hurting hoof around. It felt much better than before. "By Celestia... That fantastic!" He smiled to the pegasus and nodded in gratitude. "I owe you one. Thank you very much."

Quip's comment about pulling a something brought back Maroon Sky to his surroundings. Ardent and Lost were struggling to pull out a sword from a tree trunk. What kind of pony can shove a sword that deep to a tree? Maroon thought to himself. When Ardent told them to search around, Maroon Sky complied and start looking around. He noticed that there were a lot of scorched marks on the tree lines. "I don't think I ever used that much spells around here... Maybe fire was involved in whatever what was happened here back then?"

Goldseek stared at the defeated manticore. "Buck." He swore aloud. What was happening to him? He threw his scimitar to the floor. At the moment it was just a pointless piece of metal, to make him look intimidating at the most. He couldn't go on like this. He looked around. A few ponies were struggling to retrieve a sword from a tree. It didn't look to be important.

@@chattydash,

Discharge looked slightly bewildered, and just stood staring off into the distance as Chatty walked past him.

He closed his eyes and lowered his head, keeping his anger in check before he spoke. "The exact location is unknown right now, that's why we're here. It should be in the tower, but I highly doubt it considering the guards had sent word of a successful mission. I have no idea why Princess Luna wants the Amulet, she didn't say. All we know is that it has incredible power that doesn't want to enter the wrong hooves." He stood there silently for a few moments, shaking and calming himself back down "...and no, I didn't forget my best friend was killed less than 24 hours ago, no. I also didn't forget the fact that I just had to bury his body in a shallow river."

@@chattydash,

((Yeah, it's a forest.))

Discharge sighed and walked back to the pile of rocks -  on his way over he shouted to Chatty "You might want to have a look around here, see if there's anything you can find that might help us. You might recognise some of the symbols better than the rest of us, or something. I don't know just make yourself useful." He returned to rocks and kicked them to one side, mumbling to himself as he shuffled the dirt around, looking for anything useful himself.

After about 5 minutes of searching, he noticed something odd in the floor - a rather large claw-mark. He looked back at the Manticore's feet "but that came from the other way..." he said quietly to himself, before realising the claw marks only had 3 claws, not 4 like the Manticore. Searching around a little more, Discharge eventually found some more marks in the floor that vaguely reminded him of hoofmarks, accompanied by more claw marks. There was an obvious attempt at trying to cover them over, trying to hide their tracks..."I found something!" he shouted as he cantered back to the group. "Some tracks, leading off to the west...but, there are some odd tracks there that i'm not entirely familiar with too."

((Dashy, you can suggest anything you might find that may help us find the guards, it's open to suggestions on the fly))
