gaming Wii U

StormzInvader

Recommended Posts

Hey, guys! I posted this thread for all those who have a Wii U and are interested to talk about it here.

I would want to know what you guys think and what your favorite games are or any anticipated titles coming to the console.

If you guys wanna add me, my NNID would be TheStormzInvader and my backup would be TheStormz.

I actually had both Stormz and StormzInvader for me, but since my Wii U bricked, I had to make a new one with "The" in it. (Ahuhuhuhu :( )

I play a few games on my Wii U and I am anticipating other titles like Monster Hunter Ultimate :3

My games: (as of Feb. 7, 2013)

Assassin's Creed 3

Mario U

Nintendo Land

Black Ops 2

Scribblenauts: Unlimited

I would say that the Wii U is a great system. Though it has some bugs here and there, remember that there is still time to smoothen it out especially because it is relatively new. I believe that new patches would come out here and there in the future to address current problems like load times.

Hope to hear what you guys think about it!

I got a Basic Set Wii U on Friday. Been loving it ever since. The GamePad is great, although I wish the battery life was a little long. Miiverse is pretty neat. I have NSMB U for it.

Opionon NSMB U: Not onl is it the best NSMB title, I'd say it's the best 2D Mario platformer since Super Mario World from SNES!

Yeah, NSMBU is a pretty great game. Have had a ton of fun especially when I went to my friend's house, another friend brought his Wii U, I brought my game, we played 5 players. The guy on the Gamepad was making the game hard for us though. Blocking our path with those blocks. >.< It was the hardest game of Mario ever for me.

I have the Deluxe Set and also, what's your NNID? :P Add me!! :3

Anyway, My Nintendo Network ID is JTPrime ;)

Awesome! You can add me too, TheStormzInvader.

Also, do you play other games? Like any online ones like AC3 or BO2? :3 Or planning to get any upcoming online games like Monster Hunter or something? I'm sorry if I'm acting so eager. XP

Thanks. Well, I only have NSMB U at the moment. I certainly plan on purhcasing more games for it. I am considering Trine 2, Rayman, and MH 3 U for 3rd part games.

OH YEAH! I forgot about Rayman.. >.> I want that game too. :P

Now, I've got Pikmin, MHU, LoZ: WW remake, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and now, Rayman.

I liked the old Rayman like on the PS2. I played that a lot. :P I forgot the name, but I think it was just called Rayman. Not so sure though. Kinda forgot since I now my PS2 is in the back.

I actually don't have a WiiU. It looks cool, but right now I don't want to spend ~$200 on a console that may only last around 3 years. Later, I might get it though, as the games do look pretty cool.

Don't have it yet, but I intend to buy one some time this year. Especially after the announcement of the Wind Waker remake. Really looking forward to that release! I also have a couple of Wii games I want to finish, which I cannot play since I'm without a tv.

I can definitely recommend the Wii U! With all the games planned out so far for the Wii U and the possibilities shown by Nintendo Land and the fact it is relatively new, many more games would come to the Wii U.

It's been loads of fun. The Gamepad isn't even bulky. When I play AC3 or BO2 with it, I sometimes even forget I'm holding a screen in my hand which surprises me even up to now. :P

So far I haven't been sold. However, E3 2013 might change my mind. Particularly if the 3D Mario is an open-world platformer like SM64/Sunshine. If it's a continuation of the linearity of the Galaxy series and 3D Land I might have to pass.

Oddly enough I think Mario Kart U might be what tips me over. The reason being that due to an adapter I can actually get online with my Wii, and presumably a Wii U. I can't do that with the 3DS. So I value the Wii U for online gaming. I got the adapter really late (last year), so I'm ready to be playing online games at their height like I was able to do with Mario Kart Wii back when my Wi-Fi USB Connector worked...

So I'm gonna guess and say a Wii U is worth buying? I dunno I have been contemplating whether or not I should buy one. I mean from what I have heard they're pretty awesome :)

For me, it is worth buying. But you probably will still skeptical if you should get it or not, so I will tell you the genres I like the most, so you can at least set a bar on something.

I like shooters of any kind mostly.  Next would be RPG, Strategy, Puzzle, and all those other stuff.

Actually, I just go with any popular title or an unpopular title that goes along with the genres I like.

All games should be able to come to the Wii U. People just think that the Wii U is slow in terms of hardware and specs, but this was all confirmed to be not true. Most of these came from a rumor that THQ said that because of the Wii U's "horribly slow" CPU, they discontinued Metro Last Light. The real reason was because of their financial crisis that they weren't able to fund it anymore thus they just removed the project.

For the games you see right now, can you believe how good it is even at release? Developers are just getting used to it and the graphics are at par with Xbox and PS3 games as of now! Imagine the progress of developers for them to create games with those graphics on the other consoles. If you can tell and see, the Wii U had good graphics from the start because judging by how AC3 and BO2 looks like, they are pretty much identical. Also, the developers of Aliens: Colonial Marines did say that the Wii U version would be the best and they are working extra hard there.

As for gameplay, I'd say it is superb. It's not your regular controller kind of thing, but if you wish for it to be, it will be. I bought the Pro Controller for it which I'd say feels quite light and the battery lasts very long! It feels comfortable and not very hard to get used to which is great. The Pro Controller should be compatible with a ton more games in the future so I'd definitely recommend that as one of your extra accessories or controllers to get.

The Gamepad, the "real" controller for the Wii U, is where things start to get interesting though. With the showcase of Nintendo Land on the capabilities of the Wii U and also ZombiU, I'd say that there's a lot more to go. Judging by right now, developers don't really know how to use this system to its fullest and Nintendo should be trying to bring them out of their comfort zone and start developing games that would look good on it.

I dunno, this is all what I feel and others may have different insights about it.

Finally, it is up to you to decide. However, it is a definite thumbs-up in my book.

TL;DR? (Though I do recommend you reading through all of it) The Wii U is awesome.

I'm a little disappointed right now honestly, the only games I have are ZombiU and Mario Bros U and Nintendoland.  Nintendoland may be one of the hardest most annoying games I ever played (crashed into the last door of the final stage of F-Zero lool).  Beat Mario Bros U pretty fast but had to look up a few coins on it..

ZombiU is alright too, just a little short and I can't be bothered to play through it again or try and beat survival mode so nothing really to do there either.

I'm waiting for aliens colonial marines and monster hunter tri 3, I've never played one of those games before so it should be fun.  And I'm waiting for E3 so I can finally see Smash Bros and the other games I'm gonna have to wait another year for.  Honestly I think Nintendo really messed up...  There's really no games to buy yet and it's been almost 4 months now.  Even with monster hunter tri and aliens colonial marines they're not games I specifically care about when I buy a Nintendo system.

Don't worry, dude. Wind Waker on Wii U will definitely be a great game as it was a great game on the GC. :D

Also, why not try like BO2 or AC3? Those games are pretty sweet. I am quite addicted to them. :P

Not a huge fan of fps games and I'm very bored of CoD already.  I might try AC3 but my brother has it for PS3 so I'm not getting it for WiiU.  Mostly playing Xenoblade and a couple other Wii and 3ds games right now to hold me over, speaking of which I gotta go pick up fire emblem today or tomorrow

Can't wait for Windwaker and Xenoblade 2 ^^

Thanks for shinning a bit more light on it for me, I am definitely considering buying it, if it is good for the game genres you mentioned then we have pretty much the same taste in games! I will do a bit more research about it and give you my verdict on whether or not I will buy it :)

Well, I can't wait for Monster Hunter and Wind Waker! :D I mean, I didn't own a GC because I had a PS2. It wasn't a total loss because I had a lot of great memories with my PS2 also. :3

WOAH! Why did it not quote? Oh well, here's my response anyway.

You like the same genres as me? :D That's AWESOME!! When you do get it finally, let's play. Do you have a PS3? Or something?

There's a lot of stuff in xenoblade that annoys me (mostly just having to run everywhere on this gigantic map and a lot of the armor skins are recycled and the quests) but it is a very good rpg.  Definitely the best one I've played in a while.  It eats time away like nothing too lol

If this is gonna be your first time playing windwaker I envy you a little, the screen shots they show look awesomeeeeeee

Aww sweet! Now I want to get Xenoblade even more! :D I really wish I did play Chronicles and the first one on the Wii, but now I have other games on my list that have priorities like God of War or Fire Emblem or Pikmin.

Yeah, it's my first time to play Wind Waker and I'm glad Nintendo is going to be doing a remake! I played Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Those games were epic that they went to the DS that I can play Zelda anywhere. It was a dream come true along with OoT 3D.

I still want a Majora's Mask remake though. That game was pretty epic.

So many games I missed without getting a Gamecube. :( But I was able to play Sony exclusives once again which was pretty good too. :D

I love my Wii U so far and I can't wait to see all the exclusives. Although I have to admit, PS4 looks like it will be the Gamer's Choice. Wii U is a good console, but it clearly won't hit the hardware sales #1 spot like Wii did.
