Golden Age

Golden Age was awoken by a shaking sensation. "Sir! You alright? Wake up!"

"Aye? Aye! I'm up, I'm up." The lieutenant replied. He felt his head, and could feel sweat. "Must've been another nightmare sir." the soldier spoke again.

Once regaining his awareness, he reconized the soldier as one of his Sergeants. "Aye Ballyhooly, must've been one of 'em. Another bloody nightmare....just what I need. Thank ye kindly fer wakin' me up outta that. Like most of 'em, probably won't remember a damn thing by dawn hah! But, ye are uh...dismissed lad."

 

Ballyhooly gave a quick salute and walked out. Golden Age reached for his canteen and took a gulp. "Where the devil is that bloody Nightshade? A courier mission can't take...ah forget it! He's probably MIA or worse. Damn shame that be..." He returned to his cot and tried to get back to sleep

"APC is en-route now." Came the female voice of Cezary's ever-present AI

"Ok, I'm running out of music, but this next one is for my sister." He said, and again a looping tone started, mixing with his own guitar playing, this time a more somber tone.

"How do you think I feel? I'm talking to a pony and putting together guns that i had only seen in history books and my private collection... If I told any of my old friends about this, they'd call me crazy, but here I am." Said Cezary

"Now I'm going to get myself some sleep, I'll see y'all tomorrow." He said, grabbing his guitar and walking to his bunk. With a sigh, he went to sleep.

"One even led to another sir. But it would seem JT wishes to meet ASAP, and he invited the regiment as well. I think they said they're on their way to canterlot."  Nightshade was trying to catch his breath all the while standing completely still at attention. "At ease lad". Golden Age said. "Well, that's splendid! Are they the ones for singin'?"

 

"Yes sir, they're qutie the musical bunch." Nightshade said with a grin. "Well then," Golden Age replied "We should get along just fine hah! We're going to be marching out in about an hour. Think yer up fer it?"

 

"Sure sir."  Nightshade stated.

 

"Great, dissmissed." Nightshade walked off, while Golden Age went to address his men. "Lads! We're going to marching out in one hour. We're going out to Canterlot. Heavy marching order, full canteens, a haversack full of food, and most importantly yer blanket roll or yer knapsack." Golden Age changed his focus "Musicans!" The small group of musicians looked at him with curiousity and respect. "Tomorrow, 'tis yer time to shine! Especially once we get into Canterlot." Golden Age waited a few moments before speaking up again.

Hank and JT got up and went to the group "the best way and the safest way to Canterlot is probably using the blue box.. will you trust us and take that way with us?" the two smile as they watch them learn the gun "hey.. if you need any help just ask us okay?" Jack said

"Stack arms, find a shady tree to lie under" Golden Age stated. The march to Canterlot took them all night, some 15 miles. They stopped just outside the city limits in a small field. The men were exhausted, they quickly stacked their muskets and went for a tree to lie under and rest. Golden Age slowly unbuttoned his coat and did the same. He drank from his canteen and pulled out a tin whistle from his knapsack. It was covered with wear and signs of heavy use, but it only added to the character. "Now...we wait" He said to himself.
