writing Have I Fallen?

Implementation of ideas which hold no true purpose beyond being a deliberate definition

Ideas which are, in their own nature, neither malevolent nor beneficial

Such to which I found myself following, the majority of my life

And despite these ideas being not of malevolent intentions, they have led my life to ruin

Yes, an idea it was, and is, and always shall be

And it is what corrupted me with its promise of grand joy for all

It is in its own essence, a dream of sorts, and to which I need but reach out and grasp it

Slowly encasing the tangible dream within my fingertips, and bringing it closer

I went about my days here and there from that moment on

All about the lives of others I danced about

Bringing altogether a new sense of faith and hope, and a smile upon so many faces

This was the dream, an idea, and a one which seemed of benevolence… did it not?

But the world itself is not fond of dreamers and bringers of kindness

Its own instruction was that of ruin and torment, so that all will stay in the misery of life

All I saw, no matter which direction I looked, was the fall of heroes and saints

They all fall, whether it be to death, corruption, or loss of hope… they all fall

So, I have to ask of myself, as I am sure you wonder, have I yet to fall to this madness?

To which I wonder myself, contemplating the answer

“I wonder if I have fallen, truly I do. And if it is so that I have, what is left for me in this world?”

This is a lovely poem, David. The last two stanzas in particular really spoke to me. In fact, I see a lot of how I've been feeling lately in this poem. And of course, as always, it is beautifully composed. Keep up the good work.
