Ideas for a feasible future Changeling episode.

(edited)

This is to discuss the possibility of a future episode centred on the Changelings. However, one thing I must stress is that this episode idea has to be feasible, thus it could actually possibly happen and be worked into an actual episode. I've seen plenty of fanfictions, most of which I'm sure you'd agree would never happen in the show, mostly because the Changelings are excused and sanctified whilst the ponies are turned into the freaking Third Reich. You guys know what stories I'm talking about. But this Topic here is to discuss the idea for a potential episode.

So what's my take? I'd definitely like to see an episode with the ponies and Changelings, not necessarily becoming friends, but forming a peace or promise of non-aggression. I mean, come on people, if Celestia is so willing to give Discord, freaking DISCORD a chance to reform, then sorry, I cannot see any reason we she would not be willing to extend a friendly hoof to the Changelings. Here's my episode idea:

In order to try and establish a sense of Peaceful Coexistence (doubtfully the word used) between Equestria and the Changeling Kingdom, Chrysalis' daughter, the young Princess Pupa is sent over as an exchange student/take a tour of Equestria. The gang expect the daughter to be a fierce, black-hearted warrior-like princess, but when she arrives in her armored train (accompanied by armed guard) she is revealed to be a tiny, bespectacled and all around adorably sweet Changeling (add in asthma and the frequent use of inhaler) who could rival Sweetie Belle in terms of giving a viewer diabetes by her sheer cuteness.

Of course, we have the usual shenanigans with cultural clashes (bonus points if the Changelings' culture is given an explanation, something from the Far East like Japan and Korea would be really interesting), with a written message/threat by Chrysalis to the Mane Six that if a single hair on Pupa's pig tailed mane is hurt, she'll personally bite their heads off one by one. However, some of the Mane Six decide they want to see if they can pump any secret information about Changeling government and military secrets out of the filly (behind Celestia's back) by sending in the CMC to befriend her. They eventually get nothing and are surprised (despite Pupa's young age and already innocent appearance and demeanor) that she knows little to nothing of her mother's dealings and plans - she doesn't even know about the Canterlot Invasion, which can lead to a classic Fawlty Towers, "Don't mention the war/invasion!" set of jokes.

A good twist in the plot is that the CMC and Pupa go missing, and remembering Chrysalis' warning, begin a desperate search for them.

UPDATE:

OR Chrysalis' daughter and heir (a spoiled, sheltered brat in this scenario), has grown tired of palace life and wants to experience life as an ordinary filly. She knows it'll be difficult to do so amongst fillies of her own kind, so she sneaks out and somehow or another, travels to Equestria in the disguise of a unicorn filly where she ends up in Ponyville and meets the CMC. At first, she is excited, but the spoiled, sheltered Princess quickly becomes disgusted by the "filthy, common peasants" and only sticks around because unlike her mother, she adores apples and apple pie.

Meanwhile, the Mane Six become suspicious of the filly. A lot like her mother, the Princess is a VERY bad actor and it soon becomes blaring obvious she is a Changeling, what with her mannerisms and inconsistent story. What really clinches it is that Chrysalis, realizing her baby is missing and suspecting Equestria of kidnap, issues a threat against Equestria to return her "precious little baby"  or she will launch another invasion and the Mane Six put two and two together.

When they confront her in the sand box, the Princess' immediate response is to throw sand in their eyes and bolt. Thus begins the chase scene, where the kid pulls off a few tricks, taking after her mother, by pulling off a wounded gazelle gambit of her own by making bystanders think the others are hurting an innocent filly ("Help! Help! Those mean mares are trying to hurt me for no reason!"). Eventually, they catch her, force her to drop the disguise and must take her back to her mother without it making it indeed look like they kidnapped her.

I can definitely see these working out if it is done well. I'd like to see Dave Polsky or Meghan take a shot at it. Can't think of a title though. Free Brohoof to anyone who can come up with a title for these ideas.

So this is my idea for a workable future Changeling plot, what's yours?

For your idea, Magic Man: Changeling Excange.

Ok, i have a probable one, too .... or several, really.

One:

The combined power of Shining and Cadence is belived to have thrown away all changelings.

But perhaps some changelings was left behind, because "they just followed orders and didn't like the idea with an invasion to begin with".

Carefully, they have posed as ponies, or even guards, a little here and there, and some has even considered the idea of individual looks, instead of copying.

Succeeding or not, by using clothes if nothing else, and noticing that they can't duplicate the cutiemarks, they have been told that Twilight is the smartest around ...

Two:

One that was thrown away ... hit its head ... and forgot who/what it was/is, and has been walking around planlessly, and winds up .. in Ponyville.

MY IDEAS!!!!!

1. Chrysalis origin story (only if it ends up that she wasn't a natural born changeling). That love poison idea would be cool, if not horrendously dark.

2. Have a changeling try to become a part of pony society, either as a double agent or for wanting to not be under Chrysalis's rule anymore.

3. Royal baby is born to Cadence and Shinning Armor, Chrysalis kidnaps it (don't know why, maybe she's just feeling bitchy).

4. Celestia trying to form a peace between Equeatria and the changelings would be cool, but only after they return as bad guys a couple of times.

1. Hmm, sounds good, but I doubt it would be made into a full episode. Maybe as a subplot or a lengthy scene dedicated it could work.

2. That could work, just as long as the writers try to avoid every cliche in the book set out by fanfictions.

3. Ooo, that would be intense. I always liked the idea of her having her own child. Who knows? Maybe hers and SA and C's kid meet up and become friends, much to their parents' chagrin?

4. I could definitely see the reasoning in that, though we do have the comics, though how canon they are is up to the reader.

A Tale of Four Fillies?

Hope and Changelings?

The One With Chrsyalis's Daughter?

I dunno, I also have a problem with titles. Good idea, though. I never thought of Chrysalis having one legitimate offspring, as opposed to being the queen of an entire hive. She looks down on love as nothing more than food, so it'd be interesting to see her have genuine affection for someone.

Lets see ideas for the Changelings.

1. Queen Chrysalis sends in one of the changelings into Ponyville and tires to capture one of the 6. He then runs into Pinkie Pie, then she becomes his friend and that changeling learns about friendship and is having second thoughts about it. Pinkie finds outs about him being a changeling and captures her. Chrysalis begins the attack, but the Changeling frees Pinkie Pie and helps her get to her friends and saves the day. In the end he leaves as he needs to think about what comes next for him.

2. Like others, I like the idea Shinning Armor and Cadence having a baby and Queen Chrysalis tries to take her and tries to harness the baby alicorns power. I mean if Pumpkin Cake has all that power in a month, just think how powerful a baby alicorn would be. Side-note I don't believe if Chrysalis had a baby and Shining Armor and Cadence had one, they would become friends.

3. Queen Chrysalis unleashes a virus that is turning everypony into changelings. The only ones not affected are Twilight and the other Alicorn princess. The four fight Queen Chrysalis in a huge magic battle. They win, the ponies are restored and QC is turned into stone so she can never doing anything like this again.

I have my doubts about the Celestia and Queen Chrysalis making peace with one another. With Discord it's a little different. Discord could use his all powerful magic to help everypony and make Equestria a better place. Queen Chrysalis seems to not have anything that can befit the ponies. Not to mention I just like the idea of her being evil. So no peace!!!

Ugh, I'm a firm opponent of the hive idea. It just doesn't allow then to show Changelings as individuals with their own friends and families. But still, we're all entitled to our own opinions and fanon, so yeah.

I guess it would be nice to see Chrysalis have a cute little morality pet in having a cute, nice daughter.

Dude, I have tossed around the concepts of both 1 and 3 in my head for a while, even down to Pinkie being the one to befriend the changeling.

I also agree with Chrysalis being really hard to reform. My head canon is that the changelings could live in peace with the other races if Chrysalis didn't lead them astray and convince them that the ponies are nothing more than food. Because if you really look at her behavior in A Canterlot Wedding and the comics, she seems to be fueled not by a desire to save her subjects from starvation, but by a thirst for vengeance and need to control others (she takes pleasure in manipulating others).

Kudos to you, man, you're getting a brohoof next time I get on a computer!

I like and dislike the Changlings but i found them to be interesting because well.. shapeshifters are always cool. When you have the ability to change your form you use that ability to gain control politically somehow. Like the Undine in Star Trek. Celestia probably gave Discord the chance to reform because Discord is more.. omnipotent. She couldn't defeat him but she knows the EOH can, and he knows that too. Chrysalis didn't appear to be but i doubt she would lead the changelings to reform. They are scavangers and they might be able to be "reasoned" with if their hunger and need for food is satisfied.

My idea is that perhaps in the future Celestia sends the mane 6 out to explore to find a new place to house a new farm (maybe because certain areas have had a few bad growing seasons). Maybe they are accompanied by a special guide like Daring Do, Zecora or Trixie. Because the region she has sent them to has "Magical instability". They arrive to "Uncharted Equestria" (by stagecoach or balloon probably because the rail service hasn't been extended to such a region) to find that the area is exactly like Ponyville in every way shape and form. They discover the residents all look like the residents of ponyville and they even encounter doubles of themselves (again). All of this being an illusion created by Chrysalis to lure the ponies to them as prisoner. The illusion disappears to reveal a barren mostly lifeless landscape. The ponies reveal to Chrysalis that they are there to develop the land. Chrysalis initially receives this as a plot (as most villains do) and continues to hold them prisoner. Twilight manages to convince Chrysalis to show her that they mean to help. After a musical number involving the mane six (mostly under Applejack's guidence) they construct a small settlement and a farm. Trixie or Zecora reveal that it is possible for the Changlings to assume a normal form but such a spell only works if they "believe" that they can have a new life and that they will no longer have their "Changling" ability. After much skepticism Chrysalis agrees and one by one the Changlings assume a normal pony like form and Chrysalis is transformed into a normal Alicorn. (akin more to the liking of Cadence). The episode ends with the mane six and ponies from other regions of Equestria teaching the Changlings how to live normally. They continue to build and link their new home with the rest of Equestria. Celestia and Cadence arrive to congratulate the Changelings on their transformation and Chrysalis and Cadence "bury the hatchet".

Whew that was a lot but I really got thinking about this.

Initially my problem with this was that because the Changelings are depicted as a "horde" it would be hard for them to understand how to live "normally".

Well, that's really the fanon interpretation. There was much fanon interpretation of Discord prior to his reform episode, most of that being torpedoed now.

I think it's way too trite to pop up a Changeling who is perfectly nice and never wanted to do anything to anyone. While I'm sure such individuals exist, they don't make for much of interesting characters.

I'd rather have one about a Changeling spy who really is a spy, really did support the whole invasion plot, and makes up a whole fake backstory of resistance to Chrysalis and desire for peace with ponies to save his neck when he's caught. You'd have these series of "flashbacks" into Changeling politics where he plays up his role for the Ponies' sympathies. At first they believe him, but then keeping finding holes in his story. And as he's telling these stories, he gradually comes to wish that they were true, that he had done something to try and keep things from getting so bad for his people.

So you get to the end and he reveals that yes, he was a spy. Yes, he was an loyalist. No, he never did anything to stop Chrysalis. Yes, there were Changelings who had, but he wasn't one of them. So he basically throws himself on their mercy.

And they give him a second chance.

Episode ideas:

1) a changeling is sent to infiltrate the mane six. It captures and takes the form of one of the mane six. I'm thinking Pinkie Pie, because A) it may take her freinds longer to realize something is wrong because Pinkie Pie is known to be random and B ) it would give pressure on the changeling trying to act like Pinkie. Two scenarios can happen. They figure out they it's a changeling and rescue Pinkie. Our it turns out that the changeling likes the mane six and decideds to help them. (Don't say my last point is an Avatar reference because it wasn't).

2) Celestia tries to negotiate peace with the changelings. There are some issues.

3) an episode where a group of changelings are fed up with the queen and decide to try an live with the ponies. Queen Crystalis mistakes this for them secretly trying to infiltrate the enemy when in fact they just want to live in peace. Not sure what happens.

4) An episode where we see the origins of the changeling race.

5) Queen Crystalist finds Celestia an Luna's absence (they left for some royal duty) and launches an attack. Twilight (who is a princess now) is left in charge for that day. She was already worried enough about ruling the kingdom for a short while because she was not sure what to do, but now she has to handle an invasion. stuff happens and we get a happy ending.

These were also ideas I was just thinking of. Pinkie Pie seems like the one pony who could befriend and change a Changeling. I'm not sure about the Changelings living in peace with the ponies even if Queen Chrysalis is gone. Even if she leaves the changelings still need to feed on love. So I think it would be hard to change both of them seeing as they are kinda like the same character. Still maybe the comic well show us something when it comes out.

I actually have a good idea for a Changeling episode.

Chrysalis' daughter and heir, Princess Larva/Pupa/Imago whatever (in this scenario a spoiled, sheltered brat), has grown tired of palace life and wants to experience life as an ordinary filly. She knows it'll be difficult to do so amongst her own people, so sneaks out and somehow or another, travels to Equestria in the disguise of a unicorn filly where she ends up in Ponyville and meets the CMC.

I want a three part epic. I am thinking of a time travel episode. Essentially there can be a problem with Twilight. Let's say her over flux of magic puts her into a coma. While Twilight is asleep. Chrysalis tries to discover the secrets of the Nightmare Clouds which are responsible for creating Nightmare Moon. Chrysalis is somehow able to harness and manipulate the clouds to her whim. She becomes the most powerful being in all of Equestria. She defeats Celestia. Luna and Cadence without any effort. The mane 5 even though using the elements of harmony are defeated. I want to see the elements fail for once. Because I'm tired of it being the instafix for every problem. Instead of killing our heroines.,Chrysalis turns them into changelings and makes them a part of the hive mindset. The last one standing in the fight was Rainbow Dash. But she grew tired and weak until Chrysalis beat her into submission and Rainbow's last words were "I'm not afraid of you" Twilight awakens to find that of all Equestria is eternally dark and destroyed. The whole world is infected with changeling hives. I was thinking of having an situation where all the ponies are enslaved and their love is used to feed the new canterlot hive, which is the capital of the new changeling empire. Twilight, being the legacy of the alicorn must defeat Chrysalis and return to her own time somehow. Twilight get's her ass kicked by Chrissy and Chrysalis instead of trying to make Twilight a changeling wants to kill her instead. She thinks it's infinitely preferable than the shame of being a husk slave. Twilight defeats Chrissy by forming a shield around her horn which is about to emit a powerful beam which can kill Twilight. The explosion cripples Chrysalis and she is near death. I don't know how Twilight can get back to her time. But after she beats Chrysalis. She gives her friends their memories back, but is unable to turn them back into ponies.

This episode would be dark and I doubt it would happen. If not I would rather see a Chrysalis origin story

I don't really see the Changling's getting into an alliance with the ponies, their parasetic nature kinda makes it hard to believe for me, but I can see them coming back for some type of revenge.

How they'll come back exactly? Idk i'm not really the best at formulating ideas for episodes, but  I have a feeling we'll see the changlings sometime again.

Excuse me, but why do you think the ponies need to prove themselves to the Changelings? After what the Changelings did they should show they want peace to work by showing they are welling to be peaceful. Not doing some weak babysitting job to show it.
