So, I just saw this movie and I must say it's one of the better modern Disney movies, but not the best.

Here's a description I found on the wiki page.. I don't wanna spoil anything. :[

When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician and con artist with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot - fame and fortune are his for the taking - that is, until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard that everyone has been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity - and even a bit of wizardry - Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

So, let the discussion begin!

This actually looks like a pretty good movie, an I want to see it as soon as I can. I love Wizard of Oz, and a new movie about the Wizard sounds awesome.

Lol, I wonder if IT'll sync up with Dark Side of the Moon...

I think I'll watch this later on today. After I rent some games from Blockbuster, of course.

Anyways, it looks pretty awesome. I'll see later, of course.

Blockbuster still exists? :P. I want to see this movie. I've heard good things, plus Zach Braff is in it and you just have to love Zach Braff.

I was kinda skeptical when I first saw the posters for it at the cinema, but after watching the trailer for it, I cannot wait to see it.

It seems like such an awesome place to take the story of Oz, rather than have another reboot of the same story that everyone knows.

I think this has the potential to be one of those movies that stays with you long after leaving the cinema

(Oh boy, I just went cliché didn't I?)

You went cliché.. But not too cliché. :3

Yeah, it is pretty great not to see another reboot of a movie most people have seen at least 15 times in their life.

This had great special effects, a sweet irony, and the story itself was good.

Now I know how things came to be in the original one

The only thing I'm confused about is, what happened to Finley and China Girl? I mean, they aren't in the Wizard Of Oz.. So where were they then?

Finley and China Girl probably died. China Girl cracked to pieces, and Finley... he probably fell to his death after his wing broke or something.

*Wicked Witch of the West cackle*

Sometimes, I would watch the Wicked Witch melt in the original one and think to myself: "Why the fuck would she keep that bucket of water at her place if that's gonna melt her?"

One thing I was really impressed by when I saw it today was the CGI, especially on China Girl. My boyfriend pointed out that you could still the see the cracks in her legs even after they were fixed, whereas, usually things like that get overlooked.

I just saw it a few hours ago. James Franco was an excellent Oz, but I wasn't too keen on their decision to cast Mila Kunis as the Wicked Witch. I guess it was mostly because I couldn't shake my "That 70's Show" image of her from my mind (I'll share this link just because):

Overall though, the movie more than made up for that casting choice error. The special effects were superb (GREAT to see in 3D), the side characters were actually well-developed (I ended up caring about them a lot more than I thought I would), and I was actually touched by the message at the end. Just when I thought I'd been hand fed every half-baked moral cliche that Hollywood had to offer, along comes this incredibly sweet (and consistent) message about honesty vs. illusion, and the tricky catwalk between being "good" and being "great". I loved it!
