iOS App

Just wondered if anyone was curious if anyone was making a WORKING application for the iOS Platforms since the original IPS communities app got taken down from the App Store.

And another thing...if there was someone working on it, what would you like to see in it?

Well I don't think so. There's been a discussion about making an app for mlp forums but as I see it it's probably never going to happen. Also I believe that'd be for the Android OS. Not sure though.

Any problems you are having with the site from iOS in particular?

On my Ipad 3rd gen the forums end up this tiny bar on the right side of the screen (at any angle) that i need to zoom into.. that aside, just the missing java problems.

Loads as a proper mobile site on my Iphone 5 though.

As much as i want it to come true.

There might never be a mlpforums app.

I honestly think the biggest challenge will be copyright.

Y'all know how Hasbro is...

Well now there is an Equestria Daily app for iPhone, so there is a pretty minimal chance that Hasbro will take it down. I am sure if they contact Hasbro, they will give permission to make an app for discussing it. There even is an FiM forums app (I think that's what it's called)

Key Gear has told me an MLP Forums App has been brought up, however I don't know if it's even past being a concept yet.

The mobile version works just fine. And if you need to do something that isn't on the mobile site, you can always briefly switch to the full version.

I agree with that fact that the mobile version works fine, but its hard to really find boards, and it doesn't have any descriptions at all. It's also hard to access your profile.

I have an iPod Touch 4G, and I refuse to update it to iOS 6 because of all the horrible bugs people have reported in it.  But unfortunately, both the mobile and full versions of the MLP forums crash the Safari browser after just a few pages (especially if I'm in one of the image-heavy threads like the one in Forum Games).  The mobile version of the forums is also just minimally usable - it's really only good for reading topics and making simple text replies, but anything more advanced really requires the full site.

An app designed to work with this forum software would be very nice, particularly if it allowed even a third of the forum's functions with a decent UI that didn't crash half as much as the iPod's browser.

Yeah, I've wanted an app for the forums for a long time. Though I'd want an android app instead of an iOS app.

Your iPod browser crashes. Well, it's Apple.

Since my phone mysteriously snapped itself in half..

I was planning on getting an iPhone 5.

But since they are extremely overpriced, i'm probably just going to get an Android. *Samsung Galaxy*

But i'd rather have the app for Android, rather than iOS. Like said above, iOS has a buggy web browser.

An app is something we'd love to make available someday; unfortunately, our development resources are not unlimited, and are better put toward developing web applications that will run on anything with a web browser. These things cost time and money to make, neither of which our dev team has in unlimited supply.

If anyone's interested in financially sponsoring the development of an app, it could happen sooner. ;)
